The Lyres are made of Hytrel and are virtually indestructible; and as they require no elastics, they will never sag or need re-threading.

Mounting tie-pin microphones (also known as lavalier mics) on clothing is sensible practice when recording lengthy interviews outdoors, in preference to using a handheld mic - but lavalier mics mounted in this way are susceptible not only to wind noise, but also clothing rustle.
