• Understand how HR management policy frameworks and legislation contributes to your organization’s success in achieving its mission.
• Know the key elements of Standard Area 1.
• Be aware of resources that can assist you in implementing the Standard Area.
• Be able to identify next steps you must take to achieve this Standard Area.
HR Management Standards
• Standards are grouped into 6 broad clusters (p.4)

Standard Area 1: HR Management Policy
Framework & LegislationAll employers MUST understand and comply with legislation relating to employment.
Your HR policies and practices MUST take into account the laws and regulations re: the employer-employee relationship.

HR management policies are formalized, documented and approved by the Board or approval as designated to the CEO/ED

HR management policies comply with employment, workplace health and safety, and other related legislation as applicable in the jurisdiction in which the organization operates.
