Six Day Maine Bear Hunt Official Rules

The prize drawing will be held on Saturday, June 22, 2019 at the FTA/VTA convention. All VTA members, including renewals and new sign-ups at the convention, will be given a free ticket for the Bear Hunt after they have paid to enter the convention beginning June 20, 2019 through June 22, 2019 until 6:00 PM. Once a member has registered for a ticket, they do not need to be present at the drawing Saturday night during the band performance to win the Bear Hunt. However; a bonus prize of a one-half (½) Bear Mount donated by District 1 Director Travis Bandy, or other mount of equal or lesser value, will be awarded to the winner of the Bear Hunt if that winner is present at the drawing Saturday night. If the Bear Hunt winner is not present, a second drawing for the one-half (½) bear mount will be held until a member who is present is drawn. An alternative cash prize of $400 will be offered in lieu of the bear hunt.

Want extra chances to win the Bear Hunt? Any member who signs up a new member with a one-year regular membership or higher between now and 2:00 PM on June 22, 2019, will receive one free chance for the Bear Hunt for each new member signed up. You do not need to attend the convention for these free chances to be entered, however, mailed in applications with the recruiting member’s name somewhere on the form, must be received no later than 5:00 PM on June 17, 2019 to be entered. Exclusions for these extra chances include VTA members representing the VTA at a VTA function such as, but not limited to, Trapper Training courses and the Convention itself. The VTA reserves the right to exclude any questionable recruiting.

All VTA members who donate at least 6 hours of help to staff the convention will be given an extra chance at the Bear Hunt drawing. For this purpose, members must be pre-registered on the staffing schedule forms being organized by Travis Bandy, District 1 Director prior to the convention. Step up and help make the FTA/VTA convention a great success and get rewarded.

The VTA reserves the right to substitute prizes at their sole discretion. The VTA will not be held liable for any issues arising from the award of these prizes. Winners will be responsible for providing their own travel, licenses and weapons. Winner of Bear Hunt must accept prize within 15 business days of drawing. District 5 Report Hello District 5! On Saturday, June 22nd in addition to the annual FTA barefoot bear trap setting contest, we're also having the FTA National Predator Calling Championship. And Saturday evening nationally recognized bluegrass band Nothin Fancy will be playing.

This is going to be a huge event, and we are going to need your help to make it a success. How can you help? Well, the first thing you can do is help spread the word. Tell your hunting buddies, fishing buddies, co-workers, bartenders and priests. Tell everyone! Call your favorite supply dealers and tell them that you would like them to attend. Call your fur buyers and ask them to sponsor something at the show. Later, we're going to need manpower - folks to work the gates, folks to help dealers unload on Wednesday and pack up on Sunday, help with the grounds before/during/after, even if you only give a couple hours it will help. More information will be coming on this, but for now, just create buzz.

Our District 5 Family Picnic is September 23rd at the Rileyville Community Park - 480 Rileyville Road, Rileyville. We will start at 2pm, and plan to eat at 4pm. Please bring a covered dish and dessert. Hamburgers, hot dogs, and drinks provided by the district. You DO NOT have to be from district 5, or even a VTA member, to attend - everyone is invited and welcome.

That's all I have for now. If you have any questions email me - [email protected] or call me 540-435-4849.

Thanks, Bryan Nelson
