    Thestatement

    by

    the

    KKE,

    the

    Communist

    Party

    of

    Greece,

    on

    the

    outcome

    in

    Greece

    of

    the

    recent elections to the European Parliament has been posted below.We in CPS believe

    thereare important lessons in theKKEvictory for thestruggle forpeaceandsocialism in

    Canada.

    The retentionby theKKEof itsdynamicand leading roleon the left inGreekpolitics isa

    triumphandvindicationofthecorrectapplicationofthescienceofMarxismLeninisminthe

    complexclass strugglesof the21stCentury.TheKKEvictorydemonstrateshowaLeninist

    party can confront the reactionary attacks from the right, the vacillationsofopportunist

    forces

    and

    anti

    communism

    and

    win.

    The

    KKE

    is

    successfully

    mastering

    the

    problems

    of

    the

    classstruggleinGreecewhileatthesametimemakinganimportantonemightsaydecisive,

    contributiontoassistingCommunistsandtheworkingclassindevelopedcapitalistcountries

    ofEuropetoadvancetheirstrugglesforpeaceandsocialism.

    Therearemany lessonsfortheCommunist left inNorthAmericaandspecifically inCanada

    providedby the line, strategy and tacticsof theKKE and its leadershipbased as it ison

    unshakeable fidelity to principle and Marxist Leninist fundamentals. The successful

    integration of the lessons by KKE from its revolutionary historic past to help solve the

    practical,theoreticalandideologicalproblemsofthepresentandfutureisexemplary.

    Suchanapproach isamodelwe inCanadaneed tostudydeeplyandwithoutreservation.

    TheCommunistPartyofCanadadidnotstartin1990.Withoutstudyingdeeplyandcritically

    and without subjectivity the period of the leadership of Tim Buck and the major

    contributionsbythewholePartytoMarxismLeninismintheperiodofBucksleadershipas

    appliedinparticulartothestudyoftheemergenceofCanadaasanimperialiststateandthe

    peculiaritiesofthatprocessasitaffectstheworkingclasstodayduetoourcloseproximity

    toUS imperialism, is vital toourprogress.One couldgo further and say thatwe cannot

    understandfullythetasksoftodayunlesswedothat.IfImaybepermittedtocoinaphrase,

    itwould

    TheCommunistPartyofCanadaasitapproachesits36thConventionconfrontstheneedto

    makeadecisive turn to themainstreamof the class struggle.Todo that its leadership is

    requiredto invitepublicly,amoreselfcriticalapproachto itsworkandwelcome intothat

    discussionthewholemembershipandperipheryofsupporterstoassist ittofindsolutions

    to the problems confronting the Party today. That cannot mean cherry picking what is

    complimentary to the current leadership and ignoring and banning what is critical. To

    prejudgeapolemic isanattempttoevade it.Thatwasnever theattitudeofLeninandall

    thosewho

    are

    guided

    by

    his

    example

    on

    matters

    theory

    and

    practice.

    WerecommendthattheCPC leadershipconsideradoptingasthefirststep inthatprocess

    theattitudeoftheKKEasstatedinitsevaluationoftheEUelections.TheKKEstates:

    The CC summed up its initial conclusions and promoted the process of discussionwithinthepartyandgeneralwithfriendsandsupportersofthePartyaswellaswithpeoplewhocooperateandstrugglealongwiththeParty:

    With respect, the Communist Party of Canada does not do that. In fact it is quite the

    opposite.

    The

    attitude

    that

    is

    more

    often

    encountered

    is

    distant,

    insular,

    and

    dour

    when

    requests for discussion are posed and in our view that attitude is not helpful andmust

    change.Thenotionof leadership infallibility,an intoleranceand irritationwithany critical

    commentary of its work is a feature of the attitude of some in the leadership of the

    CommunistPartyofCanadatodayanditisharmfultoourcause.

    Theevidenceforsuchanattitudeisthefailureofthepartyleadershiptoinviteonaregular

    basisadiscussionofitswork,toprovideavenueforsuchdiscussion,toorganizeratherthan

    manage such a discussion. Failure to do that sends amessage to their supporterwhich

    impliesleadershipmasteryofallaspectsofthecomplexitiesofthecurrentclassstrugglein

    ourcountry

    which

    in

    our

    view

    is

    remote

    from

    the

    truth.

    Periodic

    omnibus

    resolutions

    by

    the

    CentralCommitteewithferventcallsforactionbythemembershipwillnotachievetheturn

    thatisrequired.Somethingmoreisrequired.

    ThemainobstacletoabreakthroughforourParty intothemainstreamofmilitant labour

    politics inCanada today isnot limited to intensityofeffort. If thatwere the solution,we

    wouldbe rapidlygrowing in influenceandmembershipsince therearemanyexamplesof

    herculeaneffortsbyindividualpartymemberswhostruggleeverydaytoadvancethecause

    of theParty.Thecourageanddeterminationofmembers tostandascandidates, tocarry

    the

    Partys

    banners,

    to

    speak

    out

    for

    the

    Partys

    cause,

    to

    circulate

    its

    press,

    the

    example

    of

    fulltimeorganizersstrugglingtoadvancethecauseofthePartyundertryingcircumstances

    isnotinquestion.

    Nocomrades,thereissomethingmoreimportantthathastobedone.Whathastobedone

    is intherealmofpublicpropaganda,education,theoryand ideology.Wecontendthatthe

    Party leadershiphasbecome impatientand intolerantwith requests fordiscussionof this

    problem.Thereisadangerthatifthisdoesnotchange,thePartywillbereducedtobarren

    appeals to the membership for action that will not materialize in practice because the

    necessaryprogrammatic,

    theoretical

    and

    ideological

    problems

    confronting

    the

    membership

    anditssupportershavenotbeenadequatelysolved.

    Themain evidence of that problem is disdain for Communist polemicswith opportunist

    trends that arise in the labour and peoples movements and in its absence, an

    accommodation in practice to reformist and ultraleftist pressures on our Party and its

    supporterswhich they are poorly equipped to confront and defeat. For the Communist

    Partysleadershiptodenythisisthecaseisfolly.Itisrareforanycriticalevaluationsofalien

    pseudoMarxisttrendstobetakenupbytheleadershipoftheParty.Worse,thereappears

    in the name of unity, a deliberate avoidance of such evaluations. For example, the

    CommunistPartyhas citedEdBroadbent former leaderof theNDPand rightwing social

    democrat,(seeBroadbentsassessmentofpostwarpolitics intheMay2009issueofCCPA

    Monitor)and suchoraclesasSamGindinandLeoPanitchofSocialistProjectasevidence

    that the line of the Communist Party of Canada on labour policy, and in particular its

    criticisms of Buzz Hargrove and Ken Lewenza of the CAW must be correct. When

    Communists turn to rightwingsocialdemocracyand radicalpettybourgeois theorists for

    validationweasserttheCommunistshaveaproblem.

    DoweagreewithBroadbentssocialdemocraticreformistviewofpostwarclassandlabour

    historythat

    Broadbent

    lauds

    as

    a

    golden

    era

    and

    where

    he

    asserts

    that

    the

    people

    and

    workers of the North Atlantic countries were major beneficiaries? Broadbent extols

    withoutexplicitlysayingso,theroleofsocialdemocracyduringthecoldwar insubverting

    andaccommodatingtheleadershipoftheorganizedlabourmovementinCanadatotheanti

    communistandantiSovietcampaignsofimperialismthatcharacterizedthatera.

    Did labourbenefit from the coldwarorwas itsessentialmilitancyundermined?That isa

    theme that demands critical in depth analysis to educate the working class and the

    contemporaryorganizedlabourmovementtodayaboutthesourceandcorrodingaffectof

    classcollaborationismandwhatare is real ideological, theoreticalandclassorigins. Inour

    differenceswiththeCPCoveritsresponsetotheMagnaCAWdealwedealtwiththatmatter

    which was pointedly ignored by the Party leadership. We are on the record with our

    assessmentofEdBroadbentandhisattacksonBuzzHargroveandhisviewsabout labour

    historyandinparticularastheyapplytotheCanadianautoworkers.

    Asimilarsituationprevailsonenvironmentaltheoryandthedominanceoverthisissuebyan

    array of liberal, humanist and social democratic academics activists and theorists. The

    Communistleft

    in

    Canada

    and

    the

    USA

    have

    made

    accommodations

    to

    classless

    environmental theories thatare inessenceantiworkingclassand thatmistakenlydeclare

    global warming to be a greater threat to human life and the future of the planet than

    nuclearweaponsand imperialistwar.We inCPShavealsostatedourviewsonthismatter

    attemptingtoapplyaclassanalysisbasedonMarxismtoestablishabasisforunitywiththis

    important movement. Our views on this matter were also pointedly ignored by the

    leadershipoftheCommunistPartywhichhasdonenooriginalCommunisttheoreticalwork

    onthisfile.

    Why is there no Communist class response to the theories of the radicalized liberal and

    socialdemocraticleft?Wecontendthatisaseriousweaknessandthefailuretodosoresults

    in lending credibility inside the organized labourmovement and themass antimonopoly

    movements of thepeople to reformist and nonMarxist views.One need only go to the

    websites of the CLC and its provincial affiliates to see the consequences of uncritical

    acceptancebytheleadershipoftheseorganizationsofsocialreformisttheoryandideology.

    Inparticularsuch influencesarethemainobstacletoorganized labourenteringmorefully

    into the struggle against militarism and war and for peace. That underlines the vital

    importanceandsignificanceofthereorganizationandroleofCanadianPeaceCongressand

    theWorldPeaceCouncilthatdoesnotreceiveeitherthepoliticalororganizationalsupport

    itdeserves.

    IsitunreasonableforPartymembersanditsbaseofsupporterstoexpectthattheChairof

    the Partys Labour Commissionwould be seizedwith the need to confront Broadbents

    social reformistmusingsabout labourhistory rather thanhisbewilderingandunrelenting

    attacks on theHargrove Lewenza leadership of the Canadian AutoWorkers that he has

    elaborated indetail inastringofbleakassessments inthepagesofPeoplesVoice.This is

    done at a timewhen the CAW confronts the full onslaught of a combinedUSCanadian

    finance capitalist attackon the union and the jobsof itsmembers. Is it unreasonable to

    expectthat

    andotheracademicswhoare leadingmembersof theCC,Provincial leaders, leadingand

    experiencedCommunist candidateswould at leastoccasionallywriteon an assigned and

    consistentbasis, critical Communist assessments about theoretical and policymatters as

    theyariseinthemassmovements?

    Wecontendthatthisisnotdonebecauseofthemistakenviewthattocriticizetheviewsof

    thosewithwhomweseektouniteinantimonopolystruggleswillharmthosemovements.

    Thatin

    our

    view

    is

    concession

    to

    anti

    communism.

    That

    problem

    has

    plagued

    our

    Party

    since

    Tim Buck stepped down from the leadership and a centrist approach emerged and

    dominated questions of unity often veering into openly revisionist territory. The centrist

    trend emerged as the dominant trend in Communist leadership assessment of what

    constituted a correct approach to labour unity and antimonopolymass struggles of the

    peopleandovertimeleaddirectlyandinexorablytotheinnerpartycrisisof1990.

    Centrismisthemostdifficultofdeviationstocorrectlyassessbecauseitseemssoplausible.

    What couldbemore common sense thanguarding againstleftdogmatismon theone

    handandrightrevisionismontheother?Oneneedonlyassert,whenconfrontedwitha

    difference, that there isa threat fromoneor theotherandquoteat length fromcorrect

    Marxist theory, with which no Communist will disagree. Such an approach becomes a

    contrivancetoevadetheurgentandnecessaryandpatientpolemicsanddiscussionofthe

    realobjectiveconcretenessofthe issuesthatunderlaydifferencesandthatcan leadto its

    resolutionwithoutsplits.

    Centrism effectively submerges differences in a welter of restatement of Communist

    fundamentalswithwhichnoCommunistchallenges.Themembership,andinparticularnew

    recruits,soonwearyofsuchbarrenandirritatinglylongwindeddiscussionsledbyleaders

    andtheir

    betters

    that

    evades

    the

    concreteness

    of

    issues

    and

    meanders

    all

    through

    the

    well

    knowntheoriesofMarxismwithouttalkingaboutitsconcreteapplicationinrealconditions.

    Isthereaneedtodiscusstheoryandideologyforotherthanreasonsofitsdirectapplication

    in the solvingofproblemsof theclass struggle?Likeanyother science the fundamentals

    mustbefirstbemasteredthroughstudyandeducation.Webelievethereisanurgentneed

    todo just that in thecourseofwhich theirpower in solvingcontemporaryproblemswill

    becomeclear.

    Forexample,LeninisoftenquotedthesedaysbyComradeSamWebb,GeneralSecretaryof

    theCPUSA

    whose

    views

    are

    in

    the

    public

    domain

    via

    the

    internet

    and

    where

    at

    least,

    the

    CPUSAinvitescommentonhisanalysis.ComradeWebbsbasiccontentionasweunderstand

    it is that Marxism Leninism upholds his thesis that the task of building the mass

    movements is the primary work of the Communist Party and its membership at this

    momentandintothefardistantfuture.Socialismheassertsisnotontheagenda,something

    that Comrade Kashtan also asserted at another time but in the context of the same

    discussionofcontemporarypoliticalandclassstruggles.Thedemandforconcentratingon

    building mass movements is asserted as though there were Communists who opposed

    buildingthe

    mass

    movements.

    We inCPScontendthatposingthequestion inthewayComradeWebbdoesneedscritical

    examination todaybecause inourview it isanevasionofamore importantquestion that

    needstobediscussedandthatwebelieveisatthenubofcurrentdifferencesofassessment

    and approach among Communists in Canada and the USA as to what a fully Marxist

    revolutionarylinefortodayshouldbe.

    Inourviewthatquestionis:Dowesetasideourtheoryandideologyinthenameofunity?

    Andevenmore importantlyand relevantwhat is the theoryand ideology thatwillbe set

    asideand

    what

    theory

    and

    ideology

    will

    take

    its

    place?

    Or

    alternatively

    are

    we

    in

    a

    period

    whereaneclecticismoftheoriesprevails,allofwhichhavesomeaspectofrelevance,andall

    ofwhich shouldmerit respectand tolerance?Or stated inanotherway,doesCommunist

    ideologyharm thebuildingof themassmovementsorstrengthenthem?Wecontend it is

    thelatterandnottheformer.

    SinceLenin is freelyquoted todefendvarious thesesemanating from the revisionist right

    andthemoderndayversionsoftheeconomistleftexpressedinsuchslogansas:theory

    isaprocess,Marxism isnotadogmaandotherstatements, itclearly invitesandmust

    leadtoadiscussionofthefundamentalsofLeninsteachingsonwhatconstitutestheroleof

    avanguardpartyincontemporarystruggles.

    WeproposethattheinvitationtoconsiderwhathasbecomeobsoleteinMarxismneedsto

    betakenup.Wealsoareoftheviewthattheonusfordoingsofirstofallfallsonthosewho

    suggest there is a need to revisit the matter of fundamentals. That needs to be done

    withoutfearandforthrightlyastowhatfundamentalistisproposedareobsolete,havelost

    theirrevolutionaryrelevanceandshouldbesetasideorrevised.To implythattheoriesdo

    notapplywithoutsayingwhytheydonotapplydoesnotdotheadvocatesofsuchaview

    muchcredit.

    SincequotingLenincanalsobeproblematicsincelikeMarxhecanbecalledintothedebate

    tobuttressoneor theotherpointofview,permitme toquote fromLeninsclassicwork

    What Is to BeDonewhere Lenin dealt exhaustivelywith the need for an unrelenting

    struggle for the purity of Marxist Leninist theory. Lenin was compelled in this work to

    confrontanoutofcontextquotefromMarxusedbyadvocatesofatrendamongRussian

    revolutionaries who revered direct action and expressed impatience with theory. Lenin

    arguedpassionatelyfor the idea that theorywasabsolutelyvital to revolutionaryadvance

    butnotjustanytheorybutascientifictheorythatfulfilledallofthemaintenantsofMarxism

    asdeveloped

    by

    Marx

    and

    Engels.

    HereiswhatLeninsaidofthismatter:Itisnecessaryinsupportofthepointofviewweare

    arguingforinthisarticletoquoteitfully:

    thecelebratedfreedomofcriticismdoesnotimplythesubstitutionofonetheoryforanother,butfreedomfromallintegralandconsideredtheory;itimplieseclecticismandlackofprinciple.Thosewhohavetheslightestacquaintancewiththeactualstateofourmovement cannot but see that the wide spread of Marxism was accompanied by acertainloweringoftheoreticallevel.Quiteanumberofpeoplewithverylittle,andevenatotal lack of theoretical training joined the movement because of its practicalsignificance and its practical successes. We can judge from that how tactless theRabocheyeDeloiswhen,withanairoftriumph,itquotesMarxsstatement:everystepofrealmovementismoreimportantthanadozenprograms.Torepeatthesewordsinaperiodoftheoreticalchaosislikewishingmournersatafuneralmanyhappyreturnsoftheday.MoreoverthesewordsofMarxaretakenfromhisletterontheGothaProgram,in which he sharply condemns eclecticism in the formation of principles: If you mustunite, Marx wrote to the party leaders, then enter into agreements to satisfy thepracticalaimsofthemovement,butdonotallowanybargainingoverprinciples,donotmake concessions in questions of theory. This was Marxs idea and yet there arepeopleamonguswhostriveinhisnametobelittlethesignificanceoftheory.EndofthequotationbyLeninfromWhatistoBeDone.

    Suchwas Lenins advice and attitude to thematterof theory. Can the Communist Party

    grow without a corresponding growth of the study and application of theory and a

    deepeningofCommunistideologyamongitsmembership?

    The Communist Party of Canada must look closely and without fear at not only the

    organizationalstateofthePartywhichinmanyrespectshasevolvedmoreintoacollection

    ofcollectives

    than

    an

    integrated

    and

    united

    vanguard

    Party

    of

    the

    Leninist

    type

    and,

    if

    it

    wishes toovercome thatorganizationalweakness,more importantly itmust address the

    weak state of its theoretical and ideologicalwork. If this is not done the organizational

    weaknesses in the Party will be deemed to be primarily due to a lack of effort by the

    membershipratherthanthetheoreticalinadequaciesoftheleadership.

    We in CPS say these things because of our deep conviction that the working class is

    demandingandurgently inneedofarevolutionaryresponsetotheeconomicandpolitical

    crisisit

    confronts

    today

    and

    that

    can

    only

    come

    from

    a

    strengthened

    Communist

    Party.

    Thegeneralpoliticalmalaiseamongthemassesexpressedindisillusionmentandboycotting

    ofelections,thepublicdisgustwithcapitalistpolitics,thewearinessandrevulsionwiththe

    war inAfghanistan,thedisillusionmentoftheyouthandtheabandonmentoftheirneeds,

    the anger at the indignities that continued to be imposed onworkingwomen, on racial

    minorities,onimmigrantworkers,thefrustrationofworkerswiththecorporateandfinance

    capitalistinvestorsusingthedepressionasthepretexttodeindustrializethemanufacturing

    sector,plunder thestateandpensionfunds, thecynicalselloutofourenergyandmining

    resources, the undermining of Parliament and its substitution by cosmopolitan decision

    making by finance capital at the IMF, theWorld Bank, theG8, atNATO headquarters in

    Brusselsand inthebackroomsoftheBilderbergGroupandDoha,anywhereexcept inthe

    ParliamentofCanadaallof thisandmorecharacterizesthecurrentstateofpoliticsthat

    criesoutforrevolutionarypresenceofMarxisminallofthemassmovementsoftheday.

    We inCPSsaythesethings inthefullknowledgeoftheenormousdifficultiesfacedbyour

    Partyanditssupporters.Sincewhenhasitbeenotherwise?

    Weare inspiredby the renaissanceofourmovement internationallyand theheroismand

    accomplishmentsofKKE, thepartiesof the remaining socialiststates,and theheroismof

    Communistsincountriesinrevolutionarytransition.WeforourpartinCanada,canandmust

    dobetter.

    On8thJunetheCCheldasessioninordertoelaborateafirstassessmentontheresultsof

    theEPelectionson7thJune2009.TheCCsummedup its initialconclusionsandpromoted

    theprocessofdiscussionwithin thepartyandgeneralwith friendsandsupportersof the

    PartyaswellaswithpeoplewhocooperateandstrugglealongwiththeParty.

    TheCCextendedmilitantgreetingstothemembersofthePartyandKNE,thefriendsand

    supportersoftheParty,thepeoplecooperatingwithKKEwhoworkedhardandstruggled

    alongwith

    the

    communists

    for

    the

    battle

    of

    the

    EP

    elections

    and

    notes

    that:

    the

    multifacetedpoliticalandmassactivityofthePartydevelopedunderparticularlyhard and

    complicatedconditionsthathavetodowiththeeconomiccrisisandthesystemselaborated

    Furthermore the CC estimates that: to a great extent these elections approach the

    characterofthebattleoftheparliamentaryelections.Ithasbeenthemostcomplicatedand

    hardEP electionsbattleover the last 25 years; it tookplaceunder the conditionsof the

    contradictoryimpactoftheeconomiccapitalistcrisisontheconsciousnessandthestanceof

    theworkingpeople.The reliableyardstickforthisbattle isthe resultof theparliamentary

    electionsin2007andtoalesserextenttheresultsoftheEPelectionsin2004astheywere

    heldafterthenationalelectionsandunderdifferentpoliticalconditions.

    TheCentralCommitteeunderlinedthatKKEmanagedtoconfrontthestrategyelaboratedin

    theranksofthesystemintheperiod20072009untiltheeveoftheelectionsthataimedat

    delivering an electoral and political blow on KKE and at its displacement from the 3rd

    position. Apart from the fierce attacks by the mass media, there were also continuous

    effortstopresentbyfabricatedsurveysthatthepoliticalpowerofKKEwasshrinkingeither

    belowSYRIZA,

    the

    new

    left

    welter,

    or

    below

    the

    new

    party

    of

    ecologists

    greens.

    At

    the

    same time the leaderships of the ultraright LAOS (Popular Orthodox Rally) and social

    democratPASOKlaunchedaprovocativeattackagainstKKE.Theytried,withoutproducing

    anyevidenceandresortingtodirtytricksandlies,toslanderKKEandpresentitasinvolved

    in scandals that shake the bourgeois parties over the last years, aiming at affecting the

    acknowledged morality of the communists and the confidence they enjoy among the

    people.

    ThisanticommunistattacktookplaceatatimewhenbothNDandPASOKpartiesprovedto

    bedippedintoscandalsandatthesametimealargepartofthepeoplewasdisappointedby

    the consequencesof the capitalist restructuringsandgenerally thepolicyof theEU. The

    slanderous campaign was realized with the active support and, in certain cases, the

    tolerance of the rest of the parties as well as of part of the media. However, anti

    communismisnotaGreekphenomenon;itssourcelieswithintheEUinstitutionsandmost

    of its memberstates, through the equation of fascism with communism and with

    persecutionsinseveralcountries.

    Toagreatextentthisattackfailedtoaccomplishitsgoals.However,itdidputobstaclesto

    thedynamicofthePartyinconditionsofthemassabstention.

    The CC communiqu underscored that escalation of the attack has been motivated

    especiallybytheconfirmedideologicalpoliticalunityofthePartywhichwasfurtherforged

    in the 18thCongresswith theeffort todraw importantconcussionsand lessons from the

    courseofthesocialistconstructioninthe20thCenturythatconstitutethestartingpointfor

    therevivalofthestruggleforsocialism.

    KKEfacedstraightforwardlytheprovocations,provingitsexperience,strengthandproof.It

    preventedtosomeextendthevoteofresistanceandcounterattacktobedirectedtoparties

    ofpainlessprotestthattherulingclassusesasobstaclestopeoplesradicalization.

    The CC of KKE evaluates as positive the final result achieved by KKE taking into

    considerationtheabovementionedfactors.Wereachtheconclusionthatsignificantpart

    votersofKKEduringthe lastyears,especially inthe2007elections,arenewvotersthat in

    themeantimewe have notmanaged to get in contactwith, to extend and deepen our

    bondsand,ofcourse,contributesothattheysystematicallytakepart inthestruggles.We

    mustdevelop reciprocalandclose ideologicalandpoliticalbondsthatconstitutethemost

    importantfactorofresistanceincomplexanddifficultconditions.

    Amongothers,theCCnotesthattheelectoralresultandtheconditionsingeneralrequire

    theutmost

    vigilance.

    No

    rest.

    The

    economic

    and

    political

    establishment

    in

    the

    country

    and

    theimperialistcenterswillnotgiveineasilyastheirobjectiveistodeliverablowtoKKE.The

    anticommunistattackwillcontinuewithdirtytricks,byallmeansandways.Theyaimatthe

    dynamicofKKEandmainlyattheroleitcancarryoutinthenearfutureinthedevelopment

    oftheclassstrugglethatconstitutestheimpetusforallpositivedevelopments.

    Furthermore, the CC of KKE considers that in the following period the attack against

    workers,peoplesrightsandKKEwillintensify;theslanderousattacksanddilemmasaiming

    tointimidate

    will

    increase.

    The

    resistance,

    the

    counterattack

    and

    the

    development

    of

    essentialideologicalandpoliticalbondswillbedeterminedwithinthelabormovementand

    generallythepopularmovementthroughallitsexpressions.ThebondsofthePartywiththe

    working class and thepopular strata, aswell as thebonds of themilitantbodiesof the

    movementwiththeirmembersandgenerallytheworkersmustgrowstronger().

    Today, more than ever, the great importance of the organized collective struggle is

    highlighted.Theindividualprotest,theeffortofeachonetofindindividualsolutionstothe

    impassesis

    not

    only

    ineffective

    but

    also

    detrimental

    because

    it

    postpones

    the

    struggle

    that

    needstobeconductedtodayfomentingillusionsandfatality.Thecollectiveresponsibilityis

    significant,though,inordertodevelopandbearresultsitmustbebasedevenmoreonthe

    awarenessof individualresponsibility,ontheconstantcontributionofeachcommunist,of

    eachmemberofKNE,ofeachpersonwhostruggles.

    TheCCexpresses theneed, inaspiritofmilitantoptimism, toassess thedifficultiesand

    opportunities that involve the consistent action according to Partys strategy and the

    elaboratedspecialization ineacharea, industryandregion. Itcallsuponthewiderworking

    class, theworking people, regardlessof political beliefs and preferences, to defend KKE

    against any slanderous attack taking into account that the anticommunist action and

    hysteriainflictblowsagainstthepopularmovementingeneral.
