Some of Poe’s most powerful works, including the lyrical poem Annabel Lee and the classics of horror, The Mask of the Red Death and The Cask of Amontillado, will be included in this stage adaptation. With his themes of jealousy, revenge and murder, Poe created dramatic images that continue to haunt the imagination with their intensity and originality.

God’s Country

Adapted from court testimony, news accounts and first-person interviews, God’s Country focuses on the white-supremacist movement in the 1980s and its spread in society and through different generations. In dramatizing the forces that led up to the murder of the Denver radio-show host, Alan Berg, the play-wright Steven Dietz brings dark and violent aspects of American society clearly into the spotlight.

Starting Here, Starting Now

Maltby and Shire collaborated to write the hit show Closer Than Ever, as well as the Broadway shows Baby and Big. Earlier in their careers, in 1977, they wrote the off-Broadway review Starting Here, Starting Now. Although not a traditional “book” musical, the show chronicles every aspect of relationships from dating to divorce. Each of their songs is a “mini-musical” of its own and their music captures the range of emotions that go along with learning to live with … or without … all of our significant others!

Visions of Kerouac

Jack Kerouac’s life, from the 1940s until the 1960s, is brought to the stage through his relationships with the Beat Generation and many of the preemi-nent artists of his time: Allen Ginsberg, William S. Burroughs, Gregory Cor-so and Neal Cassidy. Kerouac’s book On the Road captured many of these personalities, and in Visions of Kerouac, his own complex and compelling persona is puzzled together on the stage. Kerouac’s writings, his sexuality, his friendships and his influence on several generations of artists all form a fascinating dramatic and moving tapestry.

The Wild Party

Wild Party is peopled with an unforgettable assortment of Roaring Twenties

characters. The score by Andrew Lippa captures the sounds of the period and

the voices of the party-goers, all living on the edge, but some not living by the

next morning.

Join us as we end The Theatre Conservatory’s 2007-08 season with one wild party of a musical!
