Views «Take some height», many fabulous panoramas
are offered to you. On the Causse Mejean, The Roc
des Hourtous dominates the famous straits. The
«Saltadou» is an ideal viewpoint to admire the
Cirque de Saint-Chély du Tarn. On the side of the
Sauveterre Causse, the Sublime Point overlooks
the Cirque des Baumes. In the gorges, the Tarn
river disappears under the « Pas de soucy » chaos.
On the road to the Corniche des Cevennes, you
can admire breathtaking views of the Cevennes

Meet the atmosphere of the villages of past
ages, do not miss the medieval Sainte-Enimie
or Meyrueis the pioneer of tourism and its

24 THE PECHER SOURCE The Pêcher springs from a blockfield and flows through the village of Florac. The nearly 200 standing stones discovered to this day form one of the largest collection of menhirs in France. Following the 5-km trail you can see some of these stones and overlook the Causses. The Causses & The Cévennes World Heritage Site
Since 2011, the Causses and the Cévennes have been listed ont the prestigious list of World Heritage Sites as «Mediterranean agro-pastoral Cultural Landscape»By way of pastoral farming, men have shaped this territory since Prehistory, striving to reconcile leading the herds on the Causses or on the steep slopes of the Cévennes and growing the necessary forage and fodder crops.
The consequence of these activities are a modified landscape and understated and clever buildings, which bear witness to a real know-how of the builders (villages, farm architecture, drailles, sheepfolds, drinking troughs...).
