Despite his age (John flashes his bus pass) his imaginative and quirky style continues to flow with an intense passion.
FACEON Magazine asked John about his work and what it is that drives him.
"The most important thing is to love what you do - if you don't it's unlikely that you will create memorable images - 1 love creating pictures and if they give pleasure to other people then it is a huge bonus. "
We also asked him what advice he would give to a new photographer who was just starting out.
"I would advise anyone in any of the creative arts to take a long hard look at other people's work - and wherever possible don 't do that. I realise that when working to a clients brief there is a need to bring their ideas to life but when you are working on your own portfolio make
your work your own and believe in
yourself and your ideas."
1fyour work looks like everyone else's, who w:ill ever remember it why should they?"
Although John is well past
retirement age he has no intention of hanging up his camera just yet - "I
have so many images which are still
in my head" said John "and 1 can't stop while they are sitting there
waiting to come out - asking me about giving up photography is like
asking someone if they want to end a beautiful love affair - hopefully it will
stay with me till the day 1 die."
Finally we asked him which of his pictures was his favourite - John thought for a while and said "It has
to be the one I haven't taken yet."
FACEON Magazine is always
delighted to publish John's work and here are a few more for you to enjoy.
