Magazine Analysis: Intended Audiences Kerrang: I think this magazine is intended for the age range (14-27) for various reasons. The “Kerrang” header itself is distressed and messy possibly to symbolize the type of people that read this particular magazine, stereotypically the types of people that read ‘Kerrang’ magazines are rebellious and like to think themselves different form society, it is quite cluttered and messy, once again to represent the audience reading it. We can tell this magazine is very genre specific because the image over laps the header so you cannot see the whole word properly this is because the magazine is known so even by covering a few letters, the audience will still recognise the magazine. The main sub heading is yellow on a red background so the colours will clash and the writing will stand out more, this would attract the reader. The font is smaller than the masthead but larger than the other cover lines. It is bold and its colours; white and yellow makes it an eye-catching cover line. There are multiple images on this magazine, but the main image is a band and the sub head says “we’re a REAL band” They are posed in a very calm but cool way, again to represent the people that listen to this specific music. it is very genre specific because the reader is already expected to know who all the bands are and understand shortened names e.g. “Trash talks riotous risk….” The layout is of a basic magazine cover, it includes a mask head, colour, date, barcode, subheading, text/copy, main image, other images, issue number, advertising. It doesn’t have much text there are more images which is deliberate to suit its intended audience. I think it is aimed at males rather than females because of the dark colours, articles and images, stereotypically a girl would not be attracted to this type of magazine but having said that girls may be attracted to the posters and features of their favourite male bands inside so it appeals to both male and female. The social class for this magazine is working class/ students because of the price ‘£2.20’ it is and in expensive and highly assessable magazine. It also uses slang and funny quotes ‘Fat Mikes dark side exposed’ which suggests it is for a lower class.

Magazine Analysis: Intended Audiences

Kerrang:I think this magazine is intended for the age range (14-27) for various reasons. All About Soap:

I think this magazine is indented for the age range (15+) it is aimed at people who are fanatic about soap. It is very genre specific because you are expected to know who all the characters are. It includes varies sub headings and images to attract the reader ‘Max Christmas PROPOSAL?’ and ‘Together AT LAST’ Its use of bold fonts and question marks would intrigue and excite the reader. It has a large feature in the top right corner placed deliberately above the header saying ‘2 WEEKS REVEALED!’ and ‘Christmas REVEALED’ this would immediately attract anyone interested in keeping up

with the latest soaps. a It uses all different colours, red, white, yellow, pink, black with outlines to make the text stand out and appeal to the reader.

The layout is a standard magazine with a mask header, sub headings, date, variety of colour, issue number, images. It is very cluttered with a lot going on.

I think this magazine is aimed at females rather than males because stereotypically females watch soaps more that males. It is aimed at working class people because it is very in expensive ‘£1.65’ I think it is designed for people to pick up when commuting etc.

The main image would attract the intended audience because the magazine is very genre specific you would be expected to know those specific characters and story line being featured.
