Steps authorized by vote September, 2006

John has moved that a committee be created to gauge interest and identify key areas and structures for subdivision groups. Alanah seconded. Motion passed. Catherine indicated that it should not be dictated from the top-down but bottom-up.

John moved that web committee be created which will manage the integration of the website between ASDL and ANYL, which includes but is not limited to the Secretary, Newsletter Editor, Publicity Chair, Webmaster and ASDL Managing Director. Motion passed (John/Laurie)

Recommended next steps

Ask current and immediately past EC members and members of the Strategic Planning Group to review this PowerPoint to improve its content and impact so that it can be put on our web site. This is best done by end of 2008.

Reconstitute and empower the strategic planning teams. Have them review, update, and fill out the tasks, referring to the full plan for detailed suggestions for implementation.

Create a Programming Committee to assist the Program Chair in meeting planning.

Invigorate the Membership, Finance, Award Canvassing, and Industrial Liaison Committees as these are critical issues for the Division.

Devote a half-day meeting at 2009 Pittcon devoted to review of strategic plan, update of goals, and recommendations to the EC for implementation. Use some of the travel money in our recent grant to bring key players to the meeting.

Have the issue of where the Division is with regard to the strategic plan a part of all physical EC meetings and at least 2 phone conferences between meetings. I recommend that the Past Chair be responsible for this action.
