1.0 Introduction

A *obie phone is a wireess handhed de1ice that aows users to *a&e cas

and send te2t *essa+es, a*on+ other features. The eariest batch of *obie phones

coud ony *a&e and recei1e cas. Today3s *obie phones, howe1er, are pac&ed with

a ot of additiona features such as 4eb browsers, +a*es, ca*eras, 1ideo payers and

e1en na1i+ationa syste*s. An eectronic teeco**unications de1ice, often referred to

as a ceuar phone or ce phone. Mobie phones connect to a wireess

co**unications networ& throu+h radio wa1e or sateite trans*issions. Most *obie

 phones pro1ide 1oice co**unications, Short Messa+e Ser1ice (SMS), Muti*edia

Messa+e Ser1ice (MMS), and newer phones *ay aso pro1ide internet ser1ices such

as 4eb browsin+ and e5*ai. Mobie phones are used for a 1ariety of purposes,

incudin+ &eepin+ in touch with fa*iy *e*bers, conductin+ business, and ha1in+

access to a teephone in the e1ent of an e*er+ency.

Peope beco*e addicted in ce phone because they are +ettin+ *any faciities

by usin+ it. Most sy*pto*s of *obie phone addiction can be ony e2perienced with

the peope with the addiction. Peope who are preoccupied with their phones, and who

spend a ot of ti*e on watchin+ and touchin+ the phone, shoud be aware of their e1e

of addiction and need to be concerned about reco1erin+ fro* addicti1e beha1ior.

There are ad1anta+es and disad1anta+es of usin+ the *obie phone. Probe*s

*ay happen toward socia and heath a*on+ the wor&ers by usin+ a *obie phone

durin+ their wor&in+ ti*e. There are *any researchers where they are indi1idua or in

+roup that done so*e research on usin+ of *obie phone. There are so*e pro and

cons of usin+ *obie phone. This report is to anay6e so*e of probe*s that had been

identified happened because of usin+ the *obie phone durin+ wor&in+. So*e

research had been done and had identified that these probe*s are the *osty

happened because of usin+ *obie phone in a wor&pace7

2.1 Accidents because of negligence.

The usin+ of *obie phones durin+ wor& coud ris&s to wor&ers. Mobie phone

coud distractions wor&ers especiay for those who wor& with *o1in+ *achine,

dri1in+ the truc&s or for&ifts. t3s not :ust the wor&ers who dri1e that need to ha1e

their wits about the* at a ti*es. ;e phones are distractin+ not ony because they

re<uire attention to operate but because the con1ersation itsef en+a+es the wor&er3s

*ind on so*ethin+ other than the :ob at hand. For e2a*pe, a for&ift dri1er ta&in+

on his ce phone was so distracted that he stepped in front of another for&ift. That

coud *a&e an accident happened in the wor&pace. t aso can cause in:ury or e1en

death. -1erwhe*in+y, the super1isors a+ree that *obie phones are distractin+ in

the wor&pace and can ead to the accidents and in:ury

For other wor&ers who wor& with the *o1in+ *achine shoud put their safetyas their priority. For e2a*pes a wor&er *ay re*o1e their safety +o1es to te2t

*essa+es or to side the screen to answer a phone ca. They e1en too& out their safety

he*et to hear the caer 1oice ceary. f he too& a on+ ti*e ta&in+ on the phone, he

*ay not reai6e with the *o1in+ con1eyor that brin+ the products aon+ throu+h the

*achine. The products *ay be da*a+e or the *achine *ay e2pode. =1en so*e of

case, the wor&ers coud hurt his sef because of ne+i+ence

2.2 Decreasing of production.

For a production co*pany, e1eryday they had their own tar+et of production

achie1e*ents. They shoud +ain and produce *ore and *ore products base on the

de*and fro* custo*ers. The usin+ of *obie phone a*on+ the wor&ers *ay interrupt

their concentration and focus durin+ wor&in+. As we &now that the *obie phone

nowadays had *any atest appications such as tweeter, insta+ra*, faceboo& or e1en

they can si*py access to the internet.

For e2a*pe, the wor&ers who wor& on the eectronics co*pany, they are

wor&in+ with a s*a tiny eectronics co*ponents and de1ice. They need to focus on

the eectronics *ain board, handin+ the soder toos to soder the co*ponents on the

board. or*ay the board wi +o throu+h aon+ the con1eyor bet on the ine. =ach

ine *ay do different tas&s. f the wor&ers answerin+ a phone ca or access to the

internet without focusin+ on their wor&, he or she coud *iss to soder the

co*ponents on the board. Then the board wi decare as scrap when it can3t be use in

the eectric e<uip*ents.

n eectrica industry, the wa1e of *obie phone si+na *ay interrupt the usin+

of co*puter. Most of the *achines on coectin+ data or chec&in+ the product are

controed by co*puters. t *ay cause in1aid data when the co*puter is bein+

interrupted by the wa1e of inco*in+ si+na fro* *obie phone. The production

depart*ent had recorded the faiure products produced in haf of year 0"$#. T&"#! 1

2.3 Behavior and social problems among the workers.

4ith the ad1ances of technoo+y, *obie phones are beco*in+ a way of ife.

Mobie phones are not used as :ust co**unication toos but are aso considered as

de1ices which ha1e stron+ co**unication networ&s aon+ with the other

functionaities such as audio soutions, FM radio and ca*era features. Because of the

updated appications, *obie phone coud chan+e hu*an beha1ior and socia ife.

So*e of disrupti1e beha1ior that i*pacts a*on+ the wor&ers is annoyin+ rin+ tones,

ta&in+ too oud, interruptin+ coea+ues and inappropriate con1ersations in pubic.

'ust i*a+ine if there are inco*in+ cas recei1ed in the sa*e ti*e, with *any

different of rin+ tone here and there. That &ind of situation in the wor&pace wi

bother others concentration whie they are doin+ their wor&.

As noticed that there are *utiracia wor&ers and aso forei+ner wor&ers in

the wor&paces. The usin+ of different *other ton+ue with oud 1oice coud disturb

others concentration. Fro* the inter1iew that had been done, aso unco1ered se1era

e+a5conse<uences beha1ior that incuded inappropriate ca*era use, and se2in+ and

te2tua harass*ent especiay toward the fe*ae wor&ers. The phone ca*eras were

used inappropriatey to ta&e pictures that were ater posted to the internet. These &ind

of beha1iors coud i+nite fi+ht a*on+ the wor&ers and infuence others e*otion.

Besides it aso creates the unco*fortabe situation for the* to wor& because they are

seein+ each other durin+ wor&in+ ti*e.

Most of the wor&ers are absence because of heath probe*. The probe*s that been

identified are seepin+ disorder, hearin+ probe* and aso bad headache. As noticed

that the wa1e of si+na recei1ed throu+h the *obie phone coud affect the hu*an.

 n 0"$$, nternationa A+ency for 9esearch on ;ancer (A9;) has cassified

*obie phone radiation on the A9; scae into roup 0B 5 possiby carcino+enic.

That *eans that there coud be so*e ris& of carcino+enicity, so additiona research

into the on+5ter*, hea1y use of *obie phones needs to be conducted. -ne we5

understood effect of *icrowa1e radiation is dieectric heatin+, in which any dieectric

*ateria such as i1in+ tissue is heated by rotations of poar *oecues induced by the

eectro*a+netic fied. n the case of a person usin+ a ce phone, *ost of the heatin+

effect wi occur at the surface of the head, causin+ its te*perature to increase by a

fraction of a de+ree. n this case, the e1e of te*perature increase is an order of

*a+nitude ess than that obtained durin+ the e2posure of the head to direct suni+ht.

The brainEs  bood circuation is capabe of disposin+ of e2cess heat by increasin+

oca bood fow.

Fro* so*e inter1iew *ade towards the wor&ers, *ost of the* had a ac& of

seep because of *a&in+ a ca or te2t *essa+in+ unti *id ni+ht and aso payin+

+a*es throu+h the *obie phone. Because of not enou+h seep, they fet seepy and

difficut to wa&e up to wor&. Thus, so*e of the* feein+ di66y and headache and at

the end, they wi +et fe1er because of restess and seepess. -ther reason of heath

probe* was a hearin+ probe*. The respondents aways use the earphone to isten

the *usic durin+ their wor&in+ ti*e. This situation coud affect the hu*an ear

because so*e of the* do not turn the 1ou*e to the *ini*u* or ower.

Mobie phones ha1e beco*e a necessity for ife, and without this thin +ad+et,

*any peope woud fee inco*pete. 4e now use *obie phones in our e1eryday ife

as a phone, 1oice recorder, diary, aar* coc&, watch and for *a&in+ and confir*in+

appoint*ents, deain+ with cients etc. Mobie phones are for *any, funda*enta

when or+ani6in+ their i1es. Mobie phones are not si*py an eectronic +ad+et, and it

is difficut to define in one way about the usa+e of *obie phones.

Base fro* the probe*s that been identified, the usin+ of *obie phone *ay

infuence hu*an daiy routine. n this scenario, it is *ore focus to the wor&ers

whereas it cause of socia or *edica probe*. had pro1ided so*e reco**endation

that *ay hep you to o1erco*e these probe*s. As an e*poyer, it is your

responsibiity to e1auate chan+es and carryout new rues. =*poyer has a duty to

safe+uard wor&ers fro* the ris&s posed by *obie phone use at wor&. Mobie phone

use isn3t one of the wor&pace ha6ards addressed in pro1incia -ccupationa, /eath

and Safety (-/S) aws.

This *ay incude use of *obie phones on the :ob, especiay if you &now or

shoud &now that such a probe* e2ists at your wor&pace. Future *ore, e*poyer

coud estabished a Mobie Phone and ;a*era se poicy that addresses the uses of

*obie phone and ca*era in *ini*u*. *pe*entin+ the poicy that restrict *obie

phone use wi be an e*otionay char+e issue that wi be chaen+in+ enou+h. =1en

thou+h the poicy does not ban the *obie phone, the restriction isn3t seen as a chan+e

but rather a oss. The e*poyer shoud be co*prehensi1e e*phasi6in+ both

appropriate and inappropriate usin+ the *obie phone in the wor&pace. This incudes

dos and don3ts infor*ation on disrupti1e beha1ior, *obie phone eti<uette, ta&in+

and te2tin+ whie operatin+ the *o1in+ *achine incuded dri1in+ the truc& or for&ift,

ca*era phone uses and te2tua harass*ent. By carryout this poicy, the wor&ers wi

obey and foow the poicy as the principe of wor&.

n the other hand, the *ana+e*ent of co*pany *ay pro1ide a few teephones

outside the wor&in+ station so that the wor&ers *ay use it to *a&e a ca or e1en

recei1ed a ca in case of e*er+ency. The usin+ of oc&er *ay hep the wor&ers to

&eep their *obie phone safey since they didn3t aow brin+in+ the *obie phone at

the wor&in+ station. The ;;TG ca*eras woud hep the co*pany *uch better to

*onitor the wor&ers perfor*ance. The /u*an 9esource Depart*ent coud aso *a&e

a short *eetin+ or course to the wor&ers about the probe*s of usin+ the *obie

phone durin+ wor&. This wi hep the* to understand, *ore conscious and aert about

their safety durin+ wor&. By puttin+ the si+n of HMobie phone is not aowI *ay +i1e

the wor&ers *ore aert of it. Besides, ha1in+ a 1ery har*ony and ca*in+ situation

wi *a&e easier for the wor&ers doin+ their wor& in peacefu.
