Shelter and Clothing

In Japan, the summer climate is hot with temperatures reaching 40⁰C. In the winter, it is almost the complete opposite extreme, with cold temperatures. In the spring and

fall, it is very nice warm tolerable temperatures.

The climate in Japan has made for Japanese architecture to be built raised for air to flow all around, along with being built out of wood to better withstand earthquakes, and climate change.

During the Kamakura period, women began wearing robes, along with veils and robes worn over the head.

Ancient Japanese clothing was highly influenced by Chinese clothing.

The ancient clothingwas mainly robes withdragon designsembroidered on the back.

Another piece ofclothing that was worn by women, was called the Cheongsam. It had a high neck with a closedcollar, and short or long sleeves. It had buttons on the sides , and slits going up to compliment their figures
