Treated fabrics

• Offer the best overall flame protection available for cotton and cotton rich blends, as proved by

comprehensive testing in line with international flame retardant standards.

• Low shrinkage when exposed to heat and flames, thereby ensuring that the skin is not exposed

to hazardous conditions.

• Particularly cotton, unlike synthetics, will not melt in the presence of heat and flames.

• Afford excellent thermal protection when heat is an added danger.

Garment comfort is essential for effective workwear. Wearing of these garments is usually accompanied by

strenuous physical effort; therefore comfortable clothing is more likely to be used—and used properly.

Cotton, the most widely used material is known for its inherent softness, enhanced by its ability to keep the wearer

cool in hot climates, and warm in cold climates. Additionally, it offers a breathability that is far superior to that of

synthetic fibers. Whereas some flame retardant finishes work by forming “films”, or complexes, on the

surface of the garment, resulting in a stiffer handle, fabrics treated with PYROVATEX® maintain their original

softness.

In order to ensure that the highest standards are met for this potentially life saving finish, Huntsman Textile Effects

has installed a three point plan which controls the proper use of PYROVATEX®.

2. Mill accreditation

Mills that wish to use PYROVATEX® brand name must apply to Huntsman for a trade mark license agreement.

By signing a trade mark license agreement the mill ensures

• That all finished fabrics fully meet Huntsman quality control specifications, and that they will provide

fabrics for testing.

• That the PYROVATEX® brand/logo will be used properly.

3. Care instructions to maintain safety during life cycle

• In order for PYROVATEX® to function properly during its entire life cycle, and to obtain durability of the

flame retardance for the lifetime of the fabric/garment we provide optimal care instructions for the

laundries.
