DODGE TECHNICAL SEMINAR

November 9-10, 2017 Las Vegas, NV

JACK ADAMS, CFSP has over 50 years of funeral service exper ience. In addition to

representing The Dodge Company in Northern Illinois, he is a member of The Dodge

Company embalming research staff, author of many embalming articles that appear in The

Dodge Magazine, an Embalming Lab Instructor at Worsham College, and a very popular

technical presenter. Donor Case Embalming With Focus On Long Bone & Skin Donation Cases, Parts 1 & 2:

Jack will discuss techniques utilized by procurement and recovery teams along with methods

to successfully approach challenging or difficult cases. Participants will be able to develop a better

understanding of how these advanced medical and restorative procedures impact donor families all while

developing techniques which will allow them to conquer any prep room challenge. This program should help

embalmers gain the skills needed in order to move forward in the 21st century world of embalming wherein

they will be prepared to present a thoroughly embalmed case, devoid of leakage, odor, premature

decomposition, etc.

MATT BLACK has been a licensed funeral director and embalmer in the State of

Pennsylvania for over 20 years. He represents The Dodge Company in Central and Western

Pennsylvania. Matt is licensed in eye and corneal enucleation. He has held various positions

in state and local funeral service organizations during his career. In addition to being a

graduate of the Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science, Matt also holds degrees in Bio-

Medical Engineering Technology and Industrial Management.

Embalming Tricks & Treats, To Include Airbrushing Tips and Other Helpful Hints:

This class is aimed to give participants an opportunity to learn one or more useful pointers on making

embalming a bit easier. Pointers that just may save you a lot of time and grief in the prep room along with

helping to achieve excellent embalming and cosmetizing results. Matt will also demonstrate a relatively new

option for some embalmers for effective cosmetic application to achieve the best possible presentation of the

deceased. While many are hesitant to embrace airbrushing, once they do, they are amazed at how easy it is to

go from satisfactory to spectacular!

JOHN KRENN has been an Illinois licensed funeral director and embalmer for over 40

years. He has been with Gift of Hope Organ & Tissue Donation since 1994 and is their

Supervisor of Tissue Recovery and Peri-Operative Services and Material Management, as

well as their Funeral Service Liaison.

Tissue Recovery & Allograft Usage: This program is intended to give par ticipants a

better understanding of the need for tissue donation and recovery. Attendees will be able to

walk away with a better understanding of the long bone donation and long bone recovery process all while

learning that their role is vital to the success of tissue and long bone donation and ultimate family satisfaction.

DODGE TECHNICAL SEMINAR

November 9-10, 2017 Las Vegas, NV

JACQUIE TAYLOR, Ph.D., CFSP is cur rently the Special Projects Coordinator for The

Dodge Company. She is an internationally recognized leader in funeral service education.

Prior to joining Dodge, Jacquie was the Executive Director at the New England Institute at

Mount Ida College. She is a licensed funeral director and embalmer, and holds both a B.S. and

Masters in Business Administration. In 2011, Jacquie completed her Ph.D. in Interdisciplinary

Studies from Union Institute and University in Cincinatti, OH.

The Embalmer’s Paperwork: This program is aimed to help par ticipants under stand exactly what is

required of them as embalmers with regards to all types of necessary documentation and paperwork. This

includes authorization/permission to embalm and authorization to perform radical reconstructive procedures.

Embalming reports and the proper completion of what should be mandatory for each case; pictures and how

they’re protected from authorized viewing; Safety Data Sheets and how to use them to your advantage will

also be discussed.

KARL WENZEL, CFSP, MBIE is the Coordinator of Technical Education and Training

for The Dodge Company. Karl worked for the Arbor Group (largest independent funeral service

chain in Canada) for 6 years as their Manager of Decedent Care and Preparational Development

prior to joining Dodge. Karl has been a licensed embalmer in Ontario since 1997. Karl is the

Fountain National Academy Canadian Ambassador.

Almost Anything Is Possible - Recreation of Physical Features For Identification: Attendees will learn

the importance of identification of a body from both the law enforcement side and the funeral service

practitioner side. This includes the art of 2 and 3-dimensional illustrations, enhancing the visual skills of

recreating physical features “lost” in traumatic situations and decomposition all while helping to reinforce the

importance of “open casket policies”.

Jaundice - More Than Just Color: At the conclusion of Kar l’s program, par ticipants should be able to

better understand the difficulty that may be encountered in treating jaundice cases along with determining the

best approach for treating the case at hand.

RORY McKEOWN has been a licensed funeral director and embalmer for over 30 years.

Since 2013, Rory has served as a sales representative with The Dodge Company, serving

Arizona, Colorado and New Mexico. Rory spent much of his funeral directing and embalming

career in the Chicago area before moving to Albuquerque, New Mexico in 2009 to work for a

privately owned central care facility.

Difficult Cases… Overcoming the Obstacles: During this session, Rory will hold an

interactive discussion using pictures of very difficult cases that have been embalmed and restored; showing all

the steps taken to reach the final result. Participants should walk away from this program with a better

understanding of the methods utilized to successfully handle what many would refer to as a ‘challenging case’

and be able to embrace new techniques which will help them to successfully treat the issues being

encountered.
