ANDE IN SOUTH AFRICA The South Africa Chapter is made up of more than 50 members who work to support small and growing businesses (SGBs). 20 of these members have their headquarters in South Africa. Members benefit from the opportunity to network with and learn from other like-minded organizations, as well as to gain links to ANDE’s extensive regional and global activities, all while working together to support South Africa’s SGBs. The South Africa Chapter is based in Johannesburg and serves intermediary organizations in South Africa. The Aspen Network of Development Entrepreneurs (ANDE) is a global membership net- work of organizations that propel entrepreneurship in emerging markets. ANDE mem- bers provide critical financial, educational, and business support services to small and growing businesses (SGBs) based on the conviction that SGBs will create jobs, stimulate long-term economic growth, and produce environmental and social benefits. Ultimately, we believe that SGBs can help lift countries out of poverty. OUR WORK, EVENTS, & PUBLICATIONS NETWORKING STATE OF THE SGB SECTOR DINNER & QUIZ Each year, the ANDE South Africa chapter holds a State of the SGB Sector Dinner and Quiz. INCUBATOR & ACCELERATOR ROUNDTABLES AND KNOWLEDGE BRIEF In 2017 and 2018 we held a series of four roundtables on the accelerator and incubator landscape in South Africa and published a knowledge brief based on these roundtables in 2018. We will hold another series of roundtables in 2019 to continue these discussions. CORPORATE ROUNDTABLES We recognize the important role that corporations play in small business development in South Africa, as well as the opportunities and complexities that the Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment (BBBEE) codes raise.
