the students got to
apply their
knowledge and learn
even more about the
3 types of rocks that
they have been study-
ing in science. They
were also exposed to
numerous different
minerals that our
Earth produces. The
students got to see
and even purchase
some really cool
rocks and minerals! It
was so much fun!

Parent Teacher Interviews
We would like to extend a special invitation to Parent(s)/Guardian(s) to attend parent-
teacher interviews at the school on October 22 and October 23, 2019 from 3:30 – 6:30
pm each night.
As always, students are encouraged to accompany their parent(s)/guardian(s) to the in-
terview. Please visit the teachers in their homerooms.
Grades 1-12
Interviews will be scheduled – please call the school office at 403-224-3422 to book
your time. If an interview time is not available on October 22 or 23, the teacher will
contact you to arrange a mutually convenient meeting.

BGS student's in grades 5-12 are preparing for the upcoming federal election. The student
vote will be held on October 18 and is an au-thentic learning program that provides stu-
dents with the opportunity to experience the voting process firsthand and practice the hab-
its of active and informed citizenship.

Agricultural Society Scholarships:
This award is given to students who have earned their diploma for the Green Certificate Program. This Scholarship,
provided by the Bowden and District Ag Society, consists of $200 to be put toward post-secondary education.

Rotary Youth Service Award:
This award of $200 is given to the student in Grade 9 who has demonstrated leadership by providing
a positive example to their peers, has provided noteworthy service to others on a local, national or
international level, and/or has self-initiated any projects or services to benefit communities.

MLA Citizenship Award:
The MLA Citizenship Award is awarded to a student from the 2019 graduating class who exempli-
fies volunteerism and dedication to the common good, involvement in school and community and
has demonstrated potential for leadership, honesty, perseverance, friendliness and dependability.
Liam Fagan
Most Outstanding Grade 12:
The honour of Most Outstanding Student is given to the student who has not only achieved academ-
ic success, but who has contributed to the quality of school life through active, responsible partici-
pation in school activities (council, yearbook, etc) and/or sports achievement during his or her high
school years. Roger and Sena Urichuk have graciously donated a sum of $300 to the student who
receives this honour to be used towards their post-secondary education.

Syd Cannings Resiliency Awards:
Resiliency is the ability to overcome challenges of all kinds and bounce back stronger, wiser and more per-
sonally powerful. All of these students have displayed remarkable resilience in one way or another.
