Dear parents,
First and foremost, we would like to thank you for entrusting us with your child.
NCC is an excellent platform for your child to gain self-confidence, develop his leadership quality and learn about teamwork amongst other things. There are many opportunities for your child to learn more about himself through the various HQ courses, oversea trips, camps and competitions.
In addition, we have a team of dedicated teacher ocers and we believe that we have a comprehensive programme that will bring out the best in your child during his four years with us.
Once again, we thank you for giving us the opportunity to groom your child into a confident Senior Cadet Leader.
Yours faithfully,CPT(NCC) Andrew Gey

WELCOME PARTYBy Jing Hao and Ivan
On 19 February, the annual Welcome Party was held to welcome our 26 new Secondary One Junior Cadets to AHSNCC. Many games, such as dodgeball and Dog ‘n’ Bone, were played to foster camaraderie and closer bonds between cadets. Cadets also got to know more about one another through a sharing session. The highlight of the day was inarguably the traditional war game, which was similar to Capture the Flag. The day concluded with a loud group cheer and a sumptuous dinner.

PDS BASIC COURSEBy Jing Hao
As one of nine NCC PDS Training Centres in Singapore, AHS holds the PDS Basic Course quad-annually to train cadets from neighbouring schools. During the 3-day course early this year, cadets were instructed in the execution of the 21 basic PDS drills and underwent the PDS Rifle Physical Training. At the end of the course, cadets were tested on their newly acquired skills. Cadets were then presented with the Basic PDS badge and a certificate. The cadets gave feedback that they had learnt tremendously from our Auxiliary Instructors (AIs) and had refined their PDS skills considerably.

VALUE-IN-ACTIONACTIVITIESBy Bryan Chan and Koh Jin Jie
Several Value-in-Action activities were conducted in the first half of the year. During Tzu Chi recycling, where students collected and sorted discarded items, the cadets gained valuable insights into the importance of recycling and the impact it brings to the Earth and the underprivileged. At Willing Hearts, cadets prepared food for elderly citizens, gave tuition to the needy, and learnt to be more compassionate. The students also helped the needy through flag-raising programmes for various organisations.

I would like to take this chance to specially thank this student, Bryan Tan Tze Yang from class ID, who did a very commendable job. He was seen waiting at 8.00am at the reporting area when I was still setting up the booth. I then asked him to return around 8.30am when the booth was ready. During his shift, he returned to the reporting station to get a second donation bag as the first one was getting full and heavy. He was asked to rest, but he insisted on starting the second bag immediately after returning the first one. One of the sta asked him what had he learnt from the flag day today, and he replied that he had to keep asking around.
SPECIAL MENTION
— Ms Velda Lim, Fundfraising Executive, RSVP Singapore
The sta then asked him what he meant, and he replied saying that he should not give up so easily. He brought much joy to us that day and put a smile on many of our faces. It was also proven, as we kept a rough record of the amount of donations collected from each bag, and his [contributions] was significantly much higher compared to the rest. We are really glad and touched to have such a helpful volunteer, being so cheerful and positive at such a young age.

PART A CAMPBy Jia Yue
Part A camp is a rite of passage for every AHSNCC cadet. It equips them with essential skills such as situational awareness, as well as instill values of teamwork and discipline, which are vital for later parts of their life in the CCA. Through demanding activities that aimed to bond the cadets with each other, such as Dog-and-Bone and the Amazing Race, stronger ties were created as they learnt more about each other’s strengths and weaknesses and the importance of working as one.
...tough, but we went through it as one.

HQ NCC
The Armation Ceremony is an event organised by HQNCC for all Secondary One cadets to formally welcome them into NCC. In this event, cadets are able to bond with one another through myriad activities, while learning more about NCC at the same time. This year, the ceremony was held at Victoria School. The cadets gained more knowledge of NCC, and also felt proud to ocially become an NCC cadet.
“[It was] interesting, fun, exciting and there were many booths which allowed me to understand NCC better.

Camp STEEL is a 2-day-1-night camp organized by HQNCC for all Part B cadets. Held in Amoy Quee Camp, it challenges cadets both mentally and physically through adventure activities, such as the Rappelling Wall, Advanced Paintball Challenge and various other team-building activities. Other activities include Weapon Technical Handling and the basic Emotional Intelligence knowledge workshop, which serve to equip the cadets with essential skills.

Camp Steel was quite engaging and I really liked it. It was quite challenging as some of us had never done these activities before. I also managed to make friends with people from other schools. I also understood the meaning of teamwork and motivation.

PART C CAMPBy Nicholas Tan
In the 3-day-2-night Part C Bonding Camp that was held in March, cadets played several games and participated in many fun-filled activities. Besides taking a break from their studies, the cadets were able to strengthen their brotherly bonds while having fun. The camp concluded with a campfire and a heart-to-heart session, which enabled cadets to understand each and everyone's feelings about each other better. Certainly, it was an enjoyable and meaningful camp.
ere were great activities that allowed us to learn meaningful values such as teamwork and cooperation.
—3SG Dave Teng
I managed to understand my platoon mates even better through this camp, and this has helped in strengthening bonds between one another.

PART C SPECIALISTASSESSMENTBy Jovan Tan and Wei Kang
Secondary 3 cadets went through the Specialist Assessment to attain their Third Sergeant rank. The assessment included a variety of tests, such as physical fitness, General Specialist Knowledge (GSK), and Individual Field Craft (IFC). We are proud to announce that all our cadets have passed the assessment and have been promoted to the rank of 3SG (Third Sergeant).
LIVEFIRINGBy Matthew Goh
Having acquired the necessary Technical Handling knowledge in Secondary 1, and having gone through the Individual Marksmanship Trainer, a computerised simulation, in Secondary 2, Part C cadets finally had the opportunity of firing a SAR 21 rifle at the firing range at Nee Soon Camp. Indeed, this was the culmination of years of shooting practice through their NCC journey. Cadets who attained a score of 20 and above (out of a total of 24) were awarded a woven Marksman Badge, which they could sew on their uniform.
