Many English churches were designed to have bits and pieces of earlier Saxon buildings

The churches had 2 different styles In the South, the Roman model had

incoporated chambers to the sides of aisle-less nave, and a apsidal on the east end.

In the North, they had simple designs featuring tall naves with no side chambers, and rectangular chancels.
