Ang Mabuting Balita ng Panginoon ayon kay San Marcos Noong panahong iyon, dumating si Hesus sa Jerico, kasama ang kanyang mga alagad at marami pang iba. Nang umalis na sila roon, may naraanan silang isang bulag na nakaupo sa tabi ng daan at namamalimos. Siya’y si Bartimeo, anak ni Timeo. Nang marinig niyang naroon si Hesus na taga-Nazaret, sumigaw siya ng ganito: “Hesus, Anak ni David, mahabag po kayo sa akin!” Pinagsabihan siya ng mga tao at pinatatahimik, ngunit lalo pa siyang nagsisigaw, “Anak ni David, mahabag po kayo sa akin!” Tumigil si Hesus at kanyang sinabi, “Tawagin ninyo siya.” At tinawag nga nila ang bulag. “Lakasan mo ang iyong loob,” sabi nila. “Tumindig ka. Ipinatatawag ka niya.” Iniwaksi niya ang kanyang balabal, paluksong tumayo at lumapit kay Hesus. “Ano ang ibig mong gawin ko sa iyo?” tanong sa kanya ni Hesus. Sumagot ang bulag, “Guro, ibig ko po sanang makakita.” Sinabi ni Hesus, “Humayo ka; magaling ka na dahil sa iyong pananalig.” Noon di’y nakakita siya at sumunod kay Hesus.

Reflection: Take courage; get up, Jesus is calling you. (Mark 10:49) Today’s readings all involve a call from God. In the first reading, the Lord makes a joyful announcement as he calls his people out of captivity and back to their homeland of Jerusalem. He promises to rescue them and accompany all of them

along the way. He is determined to leave no one behind. He is preparing the way for a new covenant, and he wants all his people to join him. In the second reading, God calls his Son, the unblemished Lamb of God, to the high priesthood as the One who offers forgiveness and whose self-offering shows us the way to our heavenly Jerusalem. Finally, in today’s Gospel, Jesus issues another call - a calling filled with hope – while on the road to Jerusalem. He calls Bartimaeus, a blind beggar, to his side. He makes it clear that he has come to rescue everyone. He will leave no one behind, not even this blind man. Not even us! The hour has come. Jesus, the great high priest now walks to the place of his Passover sacrifice where he will offer a new covenant in his blood, and he invites us to join him as joyful witnesses. As their paths meet, Bartimaeus throws off his cloak and eagerly follows Jesus. What an image! When you receive the Eucharist at Mass, be like Bartimaeus, and throw aside everything that limits your vision and your expectations. He has marvelous plans for your life. So let him heal your heart and fill it with the fire of his love. As adopted sons and daughters of God, we all have a royal heritage. Don’t let obstacles or difficulties make you lose sight of it! It’s not where you’ve come from, but where you are heading that counts. So try your best to persist, with faith and trust in the Lord. Believe that he will remove what need to be removed, strengthen what needs to be strengthened, and give you the grace to get up and follow. Remember: he’s calling you!

I want to see!” (wau.org-Oct2015) MGA KAGANAPAN AT BALITANG SIMBAHAN News 2015-10-16 First Grand Marian Exhibit blessed and opened The Marian Exhibit at St. Joseph Chapel of St. John the Baptist Parish (SJBP) was blessed and opened last Friday, October 16, 2015 after the 6:00 p.m. Mass that was presided by Msgr. Nestor C. Cerbo, SJBP Parish Priest.

Ang ebanghelyo noong araw na iyon ay mayroong tatlong paalaala: una, dapat maging makatotohanan at hindi mapagpakunwari; ikalawa, dapat matakot tayo hindi sa tao kundi sa Diyos na makapapatay hindi lamang ng katawan kundi pati na rin ng kaluluwa sa pamamagitan ng pagbubulid nito sa impiyerno; at ikatlo, hindi tayo pababayaan ng Diyos dahil ang bawat isa sa atin ay mahalaga kanya.

Hinamon ni Msgr. Cerbo ang mga nagsimba, na sa kanilang pagbisita sa Marian Exhibit ay lalo sana silang magiging makatotohanan at maiwasan ang pagkukunwari dahil dadalawin nila ang Ina ng Katotohanan at ang Katotohanan na walang iba kundi ang Panginoong Hesus na siyang hindi lamang Katotohanan kundi Daan at Buhay. Na lalo sana silang magkaroon ng takot sa Diyos dahil si Maria ay may takot sa Diyos kaya sinikap niyang mamuhay na banal, kaya hindi nagkasala sa buong buhay niya. Dahil hindi siya nagkasala sa buong buhay niya, hindi namatay ang kanyang katawan at kaluluwa kundi sa paglisan niya sa mundong ito si Maria ay iniakyat sa langit ng buong buo. Dahil si Maria ay may takot sa Diyos, hindi siya pinabayaan ng Panginoon na

mabulok sa lupa bagkus dinakila agad sa langit. Sana tayo na may takot sa Diyos tulad ni Maria ay hindi rin pababayaan ng Panginoon. Pagkatapos ng Misa, ang Marian Exhibit ay binasbasan sa pamumuno ni Msgr. Cerbo. Ito ay dinaluhan ng mga nagsimba at ng iba’t-ibang kasapi mula sa mga ministries, organizations at movements ng SJBP. Mayroon ding galing sa ibang parokya at iba’t ibang lugar.

Blessing of the Exhibit Bago magtapos ang pagbabasbas, pinasalamatan ang mga nag-organize at nag-put up ng First Grand Marian Exhibit na ito. Kabilang dito ang Family Rosary Crusade, Legion of Mary, Mario Albaladejo, Marion at ang Hermana Mayor ng Rosary Month Celebration, Hon. Mayor Guia Gomez. Pinasalamatan din si Rev.

Fr. Herbert Camacho, ang Priest In Charge of Worship Ministry ng SJBP, na nagsulong na maisakatuparan ang kauna-unahang Marian Exhibit na ito sa ating Parokya.

News 2015-10-17 MBG New Members inducted The new members of the Mother Butler Guild (MBG) – St. John the Baptist Parish (SJBP), were inducted last Saturday, 17th October 2015, during the 7:00 AM mass presided by Msgr. Nestor Cerbo.

Additional seven (7) Handmaids of the Lord joined the MBG. The new members were:

The event coincided with the 90th Birthday of their oldest member who was no

other than Sis. Flor Dizon. The occasion ended not only spiritually but physically, too, because of the good “chow” prepared by the birthday celebrant, which was held at the Parish Celebration Hall.

SJBP Catholic Women’s League (CWL) members receive loyalty award

Four CWLs from SJBP unit received a Loyalty Award during ceremonies for such purpose organized, as a regular activity by the CWL of the Archdiocese of Manila held at the Manila Cathedral-Basilica on Saturday, October 17, 2015.

The awarding ceremonies were preceded by a Eucharist Celebration where our Parish Priest, Msgr. Nestor C. Cerbo, con-celebrated. The awardees were: Nitz Bingcang, Lourdes Guerrero, Pining Castaňeda and Ely Salayon. The Unit Officers who attended the event were Dra. Cecilia Marcos – President; Dr. Myrna Valentin – Vice President; Zeny Luces – Secretary; Bebot Hipolito – Treasurer; Merle Natiola – Auditor.

There are already three BEC cells in Pasadena headed by Sis. Pina Gonzales.

Boom microphones and acoustics wire for guitar installed For the choirs to elicit greater participation in singing during the mass from the mass attendants, boom microphones and acoustic wire for guitar were installed on Saturday, October 17, 2015 in the evening when there was no more activity inside the Church. It was also the time when the choirs were practicing which is just opportune so that the microphones and acoustics wire were already checked and tested in their performance. So far the performance of the boom microphone is good, unless there is feedback to the contrary. Please relay them to our Parish Office, if such problem is encountered. News 2015-10-18 Pistang Birhen ng Fatima sa BEC Rivera “Pamayanang dumadalangin kay Maria, kay Kristo’y nagkakaisa.”

Naging masungit man ang panahon dahil sa bagyong Lando, masaya at masigla pa ring naipagdiwang ng mga taga-barangay Rivera ang kapistahan ng kanilang mahal na patrona, ang Birheng Fatima. Mas naging makabuluhan ang pagdiriwang na tila sumasariwa sa mismong pangyayari noong Oktubre 13, 1917 nang huli at milagrosong nagpakita ang Birhen sa tatlong bata sa Fatima, kung saan sa gitna ng malakas na buhos ng ulan, nagsasayaw sa langit si haring araw. Ito rin ang naramdaman ng bawat isang dumalo sa pagmimisa na ginanap ng araw na iyon, na nakatagpo ng liwanag sa gitna ng pag-ulan dahil sa mga buhay na aral mula sa Salita ng Diyos. Sa pasimula ng misa, inihatid sa kanyang luklukan sa altar ang bagong imahen

ng Birheng Fatima na ipinagkaloob ng isang butihing donor.

Pagluluklok ng Imahen ng Birhen ng Fatima Sa homiliya naman ni Msgr. Nestor Cerbo, na punong tagapagdiwang ng misang iyon, apat na aral ang kanyang ibinahagi sa komunidad: magpatawaran, umiwas sa tukso, maging lingcod upang maging dakila sa Panginoon, at talikdan ang kasalanan. Sa panghuli’y hinamon din ni Msgr. Nestor ang mga miyembro ng BEC sa Rivera na makapaghikayat pa ng karagdagang mga lingkod, lalong higit ang mga lay liturgical servers.

Pagkaraan ng misa’y nagsalu-salo ang lahat sa payak ngunit nakabubusog na agahan.

Tila dininig naman ng Mahal na Ina ang dalangin ng marami sapagkat naging maaliwalas ang langit kinagabihan, at maayos na nairaos ang taunang prusisyon ng Birhen ng Fatima na inililibot sa buong Barangay Rivera at karatig barangay.

Mga Batang kumikilala kay Maria Children’s Catechesis sa BEC Rivera

Oktubre 11, 2015 --- Bilang paghahanda sa darating na kapistahan ng Birheng Fatima sa Barangay Rivera, ang BEC Rivera Youth Ministry ay nag-organisa ng Children’s Catechesis sa humigit tatlumpung bata sa barangay. Hangarin ng gawaing ito na sa murang edad ng mga bata ay maipakilala at mapaunawa sa kanila kung sino ang patron ng barangay.

Si Imah kasama ang batang mag-aaral Tampok sa nasabing catechesis ang isang maikling film showing ng pelikulang, The Miracle of Our Lady of Fatima. Pagkatapos manood, ipinaliwanag sa mga bata ang kwento at mensahe ng Mahal na Birhen. Ipinaalala sa kanila ang kahalagahan ng pagdarasal ng Santo Rosaryo araw-araw, gayun din ang pagsusumikap na umiwas sa anumang uri ng kasalanan. Nagkaroon rin ng maikling balik-aral ang mga bata tungkol sa mga panalangin

ng Rosaryo.

Sa huli, bakas ang sigla sa kanilang mga mukha di lamang dahil sa masarap na merienda ang kanilang pinagsaluhan at mga pabaong bagong Rosaryo, kundi dahil na rin marahil sa mga bagong aral na kanilang natutunan sa kabutihan ng Mahal na Ina, ang Birhen ng Fatima News 2015-10-21 BEC Wednesday Meeting The Basic Ecclesial Communities (BEC) Meeting last Wednesday October 21, 2015 went through its usual main routine aside from songs and praises to the Lord. First, there was the exegesis of the three readings for the coming Sunday, the 30th Sunday in Ordinary Time (October 25); second, sharing based on the three readings explained, and third, other matters of concern for SJBP.

Rev. Fr. Herbert Camacho, SJBP Parochial Vicar, presented the exegesis for the three readings. With the guide questions given, two of the attendees shared their reflection/experiences. On the other matters concerning the Parish, Fr. Herbert reminded the body of the upcoming activities up to November 2. Fr. Herbert went through each activity starting from the Exhibit and the schedule assignment of each BEC’s where and which Carosa will they be accompanying during the Grand Marian Procession on Saturday 24th October. Fr. Herbert also reminded the parents to be wary of the kids during the November 1 celebration portraying the image of the devil and wearing the bad looking masks. The reason why the “Dress Like A Saint” is introduced to our Parish. This is the second year that SJBP will be doing this. As of the meeting date, there are a total of 70 kids will be participating. Msgr. Nestor Cerbo on the other hand, discussed the business arising from the previous meeting and laid out the plans for the Ministries under his direction and these are the ministries that are involved with Education, Social Services and Development, Temporalities, Family & Life, BEC.
