Auctioneer and Ringmen compliments of

Page 2: animal? Youth Livestock Auction€¦ · If you’re the highest bidder on an animal, you have two options to manage your purchase: 1. Buy Back: This option is best if you want to

• Bid by raising your hand to signal your bid. Whether you purchase the animal or not, your bidding shows support of the 4-H youth.

• The highest bidder purchases the animal. • Let the ring man know whether you want

custom processing or buy back. • Proceed to the sale clerk to make payment. You

may pay by personal check, cash, credit card, and/or certified funds. Checks are payable to “Arapahoe County Youth Livestock Auction”.

• Payment must be completed at the time of the sale.

Please be advised that a 3% transaction fee will be applied if paying with a credit card.

• All buyers will receive a picture/plaque of the animal and seller. Buyers will be recognized in a news release, fair signage, fair book and website.

The Auction is an independent 501 (c) 3 and may benefit your income tax plan as a charitable contribution. Contact your tax advisor.

If you have questions or need help bidding, an auction assistant will be available to help you.

I won! What happens next?If you’re the highest bidder on an animal, you have two options to manage your purchase:

1. Buy Back: This option is best if you want to donate towards the purchase of an animal without having to deal with a meat processing plant. You do not receive the animal, but the proceeds go back to the 4-H youth. You pay the difference between the purchase price and the floor price.

Pricing Examples:Options Purchase Price Floor Price Buyer Cost Buy Back $400.00 $200.00 $200.00 (Floor price based on animal weight multiplied by price per lb.)

2. Custom Processing: This option lets you put meat directly into your freezer. You pay the amount of your successful bid, plus processing fees. After the Fair, the Auction Committee will transport the animal to a processing plant arranged by the committee.

*Please note: If you choose to move your appointment at the processing site selected by the committee to a later date, or you want to work with a different processing plant, you are solely responsible for collecting and transporting the animal to your packing plant of choice.

You must contact the sale committee for a designated load-out time for the animal you will be transporting.

Every year, local youth invest their time, talent and substantial funds in raising a market animal

to sell at this event. They follow quality production practices in nutrition, health, care and handling of their livestock to ensure high quality meat.

And every year, community leaders, businesses and citizens help youth raise funds to continue their education by bidding on and buying their animals.

We hope this year will include you. Your support lets our future leaders and livestock producers know that responsibility and hard work are still valuable principles today.

Our Mission is to inspire, promote and facilitate the advancement of education and science in agricultural and related activities for youth.

Who can bid at the auction? Anyone with a desire to support local youth and to enjoy quality meat.

Partner Purchase Program – Partner with another buyer or get a group together for a combined purchase of an animal. This is a great way to support the 4-H program with others who are interested. Contact the sale committee for details and we can assist you in finding a purchasing partner.

How do I bid at the Auction? For a successful bidding and buying experience follow these simple steps.

• Register for your bidder number when you arrive. You will receive a catalog showing the sale order, animal weights and owners.

• When each animal is led into the ring, the auctioneer will suggest a bid in dollars per head (i.e. $150 for a lamb.)
