My perspective of Ellen by Kyleigh

I think that Ellen is very

brave because she is in a

very tough situation. She is

leaving her home , Kristi,

Annemarie and Denmark.

Annemarie will miss Ellen.

She is her best friend.

Number the Stars takes place in Copenhagen, Denmark.

Annemarie is ten years old and often plays with her best

friend Ellen who is Jewish. When Ellen`s parents have to

leave Ellen struggles to find hope.

I think that the Nazi soldiers

are very mean. To me tracking

people down if they have a dif-

ferent religion is very mean! The Nazi

soldiers have no right to storm through

peoples houses and towns looking for

Jewish people like Ellen`s family.

During this time Jews of all ages

were being re-located . 5.7 million

Jews died during World War II .

Only some of the many Jews sur-

vived World War II.

What is happening in Denmark during the year of 1943?

I am happy that all the

Jews are leaving on uncle

Henrick`s boat because it

will help the Jewish people

escape from the war to free-

dom. It makes me feel like a

hero to know that.
