I picked Annie Leibovitz as my female photographer because I admire her lucid Romanic style in which she photographs. She has been my favorite photographer for some time and I picked my favorite photos of hers to share in this PowerPoint.

“When I say I want to photograph someone, what it really means is that I'd like to know them. Anyone I know I photograph.” - Leibovitz

“Really great photographers can’t stop taking pictures, they do it like other people eat and breath. Annie’s whole life is the subject and that life can be seen on some of the most famous magazines of some of the most famous and interesting people that is quite the accomplishment.” -Graydon Carter of Vanity Fair

A photo that Annie Leibovitz took of John Lennon shortly before he was killed in New York City, December of 1980. This has become a very famous iconic image.

“What I learned from Lennon was something that did stay with me my whole career, which is to be very straightforward. I actually love talking about taking pictures, and I think that helps everyone. “

Annie’s uses a dreamy-yet lucid style to demonstrate a fantasy in her photos that I don’t see in other photographers work. She also uses strange props and locations to shoot her subjects.

Annie’s character portraits are chillingly telling. I love her use of gestures.

Annie said she loved to photograph strong women.

Page 8: Annie Leibovitz

The reason she liked to photograph strong women was because she said it reminded her that you can overcome anything and that there are no rules that you can not be whatever you want to be. People did not take her serious when she first started taking photos and practicing her art.

“I didn't want to let women down. One of the stereotypes I see breaking is the idea of aging and older women not being beautiful…every woman is beautiful.”

Annie said that instead of photographing people, she has become very interested in landscapes and still life nature pictures.

What I am interested in now is the landscape. Pictures without people. I wouldn't be surprised if eventually there are no people in my pictures. It is so emotional.

Annie is my hero, she one of the strongest women that has had an influence in my life and she influences my photography an amazing amount.
