The EBSQ certificate attests that a surgical oncologist possesses the knowledge, skills, and attitudes essential for an optimal treatment of cancer patients. It offers physicians the opportunity to test and assess their level of knowledge. The deadline for the submission of applications is 31st May. More information on the eligible criteria and the application procedure is available from the ESSO website (www.essoweb.org) and the European Board of Surgery (EBS) website (www.uemssurg.org). ESSO Training Fellowships The ESSO Education and Training Committee is pleased to offer fellowships for young surgeons to visit a specialist centre and develop their experience or be trained in new techniques. The deadline for application is 15 th October 2014. For more information on the eligible criteria and the appli- cation procedure visit the ESSO website : www.essoweb. org Select Education/Training Fellowships. Help the ESSO Education and Training Committee expand its database of training opportunities for young surgical oncologists The ESSO Education and Training Committee (ETC) which is responsible for granting the ESSO fellowships, is keen to assist young cancer surgeons in finding a hospital/ institute / cancer centre that responds to their specific training needs and that have available training opportunities. Hence, ESSO has started creating a registry of available host locations across Europe for a training fellowship. The ETC strongly believe that such a registry will help in- crease the mobility of young cancer surgeons across Europe and help many of them find the most suitable location for their training. With this objective in mind, the ETC would welcome receiving expressions of interest for hosting a young surgi- cal fellow or information on fellowship opportunities in Europe. To this end, ESSO has developed a questionnaire for host institutions that can be downloaded from the ESSO website at www.essoweb.org or requested from the ESSO Secre- tariat ([email protected]). With this information the ETC hopes to expand its database of available training opportunities in Europe for the benefit of young cancer surgeons eager to extend their practice.
