YOUTH CONNECTING

LIFE TEEN TRAINING WORKSHOPS - FOR YOUTH LEADERS

Chika Anyanwu from Life Teen is coming all the way from the US to do an Austral-ian tour and the Youth Evangelisation Office has the pleasure of hosting her for two awesome nights! Chika is Catholic speaker and Area Contact for Life Teen in the Diocese of San Bernardino, California. She is pursuing her dream and the Lord’s commission to make dis-ciples of all the nations, through sharing talks with youth and young adults about living out the Catholic faith in today’s secular society. The two sessions we have her for are: Night #1 Life Teen Training Session An inspiring and re-energising session open to all youth leaders, particularly those already involved in (or about to start) leading in a Life Teen youth ministry. Night #2 Life Teen Information Session An infor-mation session for anyone interested in learn-ing more about Life Teen and its model of youth ministry. The training dates are: Night #1 Tuesday 19th September 7pm – 9pm Paloma Centre (Sunnybank Catholic Church) 121 Mains Rd ,Sunnybank . Night #2 Wednesday 20th September 7pm – 9pm Presentation Room (Lavalla Centre) 58 Fernberg Rd Paddington.

SOCIAL EVENTS

As Fr John is always keen for a cuppa with those who hang around after Mass, We are trying to establish tea and coffee time across the Parish. All are welcome to stay and have chat. We will still have the regular monthly hospitality at each Church and have this running every weekend after Mass.. Hospitality after Mass at St Bernardine’s Church is every 3rd Sunday of the month after the 7.30am Mass and at St Catherine’s and Our Lady of the Assumption Church’s every 1st Sunday of the month after Mass. Please bring a plate to share. CLEO LADIES DINNER - ( Catholic ladies eating out ) A Group of ladies who meet every 1st Wednesday of the month, providing an opportunity for ladies in our community to meet informally in a friendly, supportive group. Everyone is welcome, especially new faces. Details of time and venue will be in the parish newsletter two weeks before. FIFTIES PLUS GROUP– Fifties Plus Group meets on the first Wednesday of the month at 10am for morning tea at the home of a member. If you are interested please see the newsletter for dates, time and venue. This information will be in the newsletter two weeks before the morning tea is held or contact. BAPTISM CELEBRATIONS. This weekend we welcome: Sierra Faye Ragusa who will be baptised at St Catherine’s Church, Jimboomba with her family and friends who come to share this moment with them and with our Community. Please continue to pray for these children as they grow in faith. Next Baptism Preparation Evening will take place on Monday 25th September at 7:00pm at St Bernardine’s Church.

Golden Wedding Anniversary Mass Couples cele-brating their Golden Wedding Anniversary (or longer) and their family and friends, are invited to the annual Mass with Bishop Brian V. Finnigan at the Cathedral of St Stephen. The Mass will be cel-ebrated on Saturday 7th October, commencing at 10.00am. Light refreshments will be served in the Hanly Room, following the Mass and for catering purposes you are asked to RSVP to [email protected] or telephone 3324 3030 by Friday 29 September. The Cathedral car park will be available.

Parish!! Last Week Thursday was the Birthday of St Bernardine’s Catholic Parish.

MASS FOR THE DEAF—SEPTEMBER 10 An Auslan-Supported Mass will be held at St Michael’s Church, 250 Banks Street, Dorring-ton /Ashgrove, on Sunday 10 September at 8.30am. A warm invitation is extended to eve-ryone who would like to attend this special Mass, with morning tea afterwards. The last Auslan Mass at St Michaels’ for 2017 will be held on Sunday 19 November at 8.30am. En-quiries to [email protected].

CELEBRATING 100 YEARS OF FATIMA October 13th this year marks the centenary of the last apparition of Our Lady at Fatima and the Miracle of the Sun. You are invited to make a pilgrimage to our Cathedral for a CANDLELIT ROSARY PROCESSION on the evening of Satur-day, October 14th. The procession will com-mence with Mass at 6pm and will then move around the City, using the same route as the Cor-pus Christi Procession. The volunteer organising committee relies on do-nations to meet the expenses of the procession. For more information contact 0412 802 122.
