COMMUNITY SUPPORTThe Lethbridge Hurricanes are excited to announce the 14th
Annual Celebrity Sports Dinner to be held on Saturday, January 25th, 2020. This year’s event will feature Hurricanes alumnus and current Post-Game Analyst for Fox Sports North covering the Minnesota Wild, Wes Walz. We also welcome TSN’s Play-by-Play Announcer for the Winnipeg Jets, Dennis Beyak.
As the name implies, this event has been running for the past thirteen years and this could not happen without the supportfrom you, our fantastic community members!
We thank you for your past contributions to this event and/or the Lethbridge Hurricanes Hockey Club in any other capacity. We hope we can continue building our partnership to offer a firstclass developmental experience for our players, to ice a competitive team for the entertainment of our community, and to build a stronger community for all of us.

WES WALZBorn in Calgary, Walz played with the Lethbridge Hurricanes from 1988-1990 where he accumulated 244-points (83G, 161A) in 119 games. He was awarded the Jim Piggott Trophy as the WHL Rookie of the Year in 1989 and helped lead the ‘Canes to an East Division title the following season. Walz also won a World Junior Championship that year, helping Canada to gold with 5-points (2G, 3A) in 7-games.
Walz was drafted by the Boston Bruins in the 3rd round 57th
overall in the 1989 NHL Entry Draft. He bounced between the NHL and the AHL for awhile, with a brief stint in Switzerland, before settling in with the Minnesota Wild in 2000. Walz played 7-seasons with the Wild, helping them to the Western Conference Final in 2003. Walz retired from the game in 2007 and joined the Tampa Bay Lightning’s coaching staff the following season.
He went on to coach his kids at East Ridge High School in Minnesota and is now the Post-Game Analyst for Fox Sports North covering the Minnesota Wild.
DENNIS BEYAKBorn and raised in the small farming community of Winnipegosis, Dennis Beyak began his broadcasting career on CFAR 590 Radio doing play-by-play for the Flin Flon Bombers of the Western Canada Hockey League. Since then, Beyak has provided play-by-play commentary for the WHL's Saskatoon Blades, Victoria Cougars and Seattle Thunderbirds, and the AHL's Toronto Marlies. Beyak has also done television play-by-play for the NHL's Edmonton Oilers and was the primary radio voice of the Toronto Maple Leafs since 1998.
In addition to radio, Beyak has called the IIHF World Hockey Championship and the IIHF World Junior Championship on TSN.
Beyak’s 49-year career in sports also includes stints outside of the broadcast booth, as he was the assistant general manager of the Saskatoon Blades from 1981-1990, the general manager of the Seattle Thunderbirds from 1992-1994, and the general manager of the Tri-City Americans from 1994-1995. He was also the chairman of the Memorial Cup tournament in Saskatoon (1989) and Seattle (1992), and was named the WHL Executive of the Year in 1989.
In 2011, he joined TSN as the play-by-play announcer for the Winnipeg Jets.

TICKET PRICESTABLE OF 10: $1,250.00 | INDIVIDUAL TICKETS: $150.00The 14th Annual Lethbridge Hurricanes Celebrity Sports Dinner will be held at the Sandman Signature Lethbridge Lodge (320 Scenic Drive South) on Saturday, January 25th, 2020.The night begins with a cocktail hour from 6:00-7:00PM, the program will begin at 7:00PM.
The event is a 3-course plated dinner created by Prime Catering; the evening will include a live and silent auction, as well as a 50/50 raffle. The program will feature a hot stove with Hurricanes Alumnus, Wes Walz and stories from the Winnipeg Jets’ Play-by-Play Voice for TSN, Dennis Beyak.
When purchasing a table of ten, you may upgrade to include tickets to the VIP Reception for all your guests for just $250.00 (regular $500.00).
VIP RECEPTION | ADDITIONAL $50.00 /TICKETThe VIP Reception will be held in the Courtyard located on the main level of the Sandman Signature Lethbridge Lodge from 4:30-6:00PM. Guests will get the opportunity to a personal meet and greet, as well as an autographed photo with Walz and Beyak, which guests will take home at the end of theevening. Alcohol is complimentary during the VIP Reception; this is limited to 90 guests.
