ANNUAL EDUCATION RESULTS REPORT 2016-2017 and
SCHOOL EDUCATION PLAN (2017-2018 – 2019-2020)
ST. HUBERT SCHOOL
Alberta Education requires all schools to maintain an education plan that reflects and aligns with the district’s 3 Year Plan. These plans are cyclical and fluid and are to be considered “living documents”.
The Annual Education Results Reports (AERR) is the evaluation for all the desired and specific outcomes identified in the school plan. It is in the AERR that schools report their assessment of progress as it relates to the school’s past performance and achievement of targets. The AERR appears first followed by the 3 Year Plan to reflect the cyclical planning process. There should be a strong connection between the AERR and the School Education Plan.
The School Education Plans are to reflect the adjustment of strategies and targets for each year.
Target setting means establishing outcomes that arise from the analysis of current measures and performance at the school and district level and are expressed qualitatively.
Outcomes are measurable statements of what you seek to achieve. In broad terms, they answer the question, “What will this look like when we get to where we want to be?”
THE SCHOOL’S VISION/MISSION STATEMENT
St. Hubert School is a learning organization in which staff and parents encourage and
assist our children to reach their full potential, to meet the challenges of life, to serve their
community and to journey in faith with God through Christ in the Spirit.
SCHOOL COUNCIL INVOLVEMENT
The St. Hubert School Council and our parents play an important role in our school
community. The school plan is shared in parts throughout the school year and through
this process, feedback is gathered to assist with planning for the following school year.

Comment on Results for Local Outcome 1.1 (The school models the social teachings of the Catholic church by both receiving and giving mercy and engaging in the works of mercy.)
Last year’s District theme was “Be Merciful as Your Father is Merciful”. We are very proud of our school community for “giving from the heart” to help those people in our community, city and throughout the world whose lives have been adversely affected. Our students are taught about “social justice’ and how their acts of kindness positively affect others. As a school community, we participated in the following service projects during the school year:
Toonies for Terry
Placemats for the Homeless
Food Hampers
“We Scare Hunger” Project
Valentines for Vets
Veterans Poppy Fund
This year’s theme is “Ask and it will be given you”. We will continue to work on a variety of service projects which incorporate this faith theme during the school year.

Comment on Results for Provincial Outcome One: Alberta’s students are successful.
Comment on Results for School Outcomes: Literacy and numeracy is focused on as a means to achieve success for all students.
We are very proud of our cohort results (students who wrote the exams) as we believe they are a reflection of a “whole school” approach that focuses on building a strong foundation in literacy and numeracy. We have put a strong focus on the “Empowering Writers” program and on consistent Math Problem Solving language across all grade levels. Teachers in division one are also using the Daily Five program as an effective classroom management tool. Our focus on technology and the benefits of reading and mathematics programs like Raz Kids and Mathletics has also helped us to motivate our students and foster effective learning programs.

Comment on Results for Provincial Outcome Four (Teacher preparation and professional growth focus on the competencies needed to help students learn. Effective learning and teaching is achieved through collaborative leadership.)
Comment on Results for School Outcome: A cohesive professional development plan is established.
We provide opportunities for leadership and collaboration among our staff in order to improve
current practice and learn new initiatives. Staff members learn during our PLC’s (Professional
Learning Communities), school based PD, district based PD, EPD web-based training,
assistance from district instructional support members and from each other. We have spent
some time exploring Self Directed PD as well. We encourage staff members to be lifelong
learners and do the best so they can improve on the competencies they need to help students
learn. We believe that it is important to empower our teachers to be instructional leaders.
