Presented by The Honourable Sophie Cotsis
Year 11 Daniel Liu Daniel Liu has been an exemplary student: committed, eager to learn, consistent and a regular High Achiever. Daniel is highly respectful, polite, and a true gentleman. Learning is always his first priority, whether it is helping others in need or seeking additional work to consolidate his own learning. He has represented the school with great dignity in everything he does, Daniel has the respect of both staff and peers, always ready to stop and chat in a friendly and approachable manner. We are thankful to have such a treasure in our Year Group. Congratulations Daniel and thank you for your valuable contributions to our community.
Year 10 Sailes Kharel Sailes is this year's recipient of the Year 10 Cantabrian Award. As a member of the SRC, he has demonstrated excellent leadership qualities. He has been involved in the Lawyers in School program and has enthusiastically volunteered to be a speaker at the prefect induction and the Year 12 graduation. Sailes has been involved in our school's programs with the local primary schools and was a great mentor for the STEAM workshop. Sailes wears his school uniform with pride, has an excellent attendance record and has displayed outstanding learning habits. Sailes approaches staff and peers with respect and co-operation. He has embodied the school's motto of truth and honour in everything in which he has been involved. It is with great pride that the school presents Sailes with the Cantabrian Award.
Year 9
Ky- Nishimura-Smirthwaite Ky is a mature and conscientious young man who contributes positively to the class and school environment. He participated in the Kidd’s Say No Program and led visiting Japanese students for a tour of our school community. Ky has been an active member of his Grade Sport teams and has offered his assistance to his teammates and coached by offering advice and umpiring several matches. Ky approaches staff and his peers with respect and cooperation, is always ready to contribute and eager to learn. He has maintained excellent learning habits over the year and has achieved impressive results. Congratulations on a productive year Ky.
Year 8 Daniel Stewart Emery This year, the nomination for Year 8 Cantabrian was difficult. However, when you consider that a Cantabrian is someone who shows the values of the school including truth, honour and respect, this year's recipient was a clear choice. In the classroom, Daniel has always made learning a priority by completing all tasks to the best of his abilities, supporting his peers and contributing class discussions as much as possible. Beyond the classroom, Daniel, has shown the school's values of the sporting field competing in both summer and winter grade variations of soccer demonstrating great sportsmanship and encouraging not just his fellow team mates but his opposition. Congratulations to the Year 8 2016 Cantabrian, Daniel Stewart Emery
Year 7 Jackson Sobkowski
Truth, Honour, Respect and Integrity are the four main values and characteristics of any Cantabrian, and this year’s Year 7 recipient exhibits all of these qualities, within and outside the classroom. Jackson approaches everything he does with a sense of enthusiasm and a radiant smile on his face. He has displayed excellent learning habits, and his attendance and uniform records have been outstanding during 2016. He has represented the school at Zone for swimming and cross-country and achieved outstanding results. Jackson also made it into the District side for swimming. Jackson is always considerate and modest despite his talents and has the leadership qualities that a Cantabrian requires. Jackson- congratulations for an outstanding year. We are certain you will continue to shine and exceed your expectations at Canterbury Boys High School.
