Hope this letter finds you in the best of your health and faith.
We are pleased to submit the Progress Report of “Aghosh Al-Khidmat Rawalakot”.
This project aims to support orphans in terms of education, sustenance and
healthcare at Aghosh Al-Khidmat Rawalakot.
This nine months report will provide comprehensive information regarding
progress of the project and its activities during the year 2013. ICNA Relief Canada
funded this project with the total amount of C$ 113,566 in the year 2013 which
helped us in successfully renovating the building and meet the operational cost of
the project.

An Overview of Rawalakot:
Rawalakot is the District Headquarter of Poonch in Azad Kashmir. It is a beautiful valley
surrounded by hills. Rawalakot is a centrally located city of AJK at latitude 33°51'32.18"N,
longitude 73°45'34.93"E and has an elevation of 5374 feet. It is approximately 120 km from the
city of Rawalpindi at a drive of 3 hours. The population of this district is more than 0.4 million
while that of AJ&K is about 3.5 million. The city also has an airport. The people of Rawalakot city
belong to a mix income group; however people living in surrounding rural areas are generally
poor.
Establishment of Aghosh Al-Khidmat at Rawalakot:
Al-Khidmat Foundation Pakistan has taken a lead to support and care those vulnerable orphans
who are deprived of basic necessities of livelihood. To provide a better living residential
environment and provision of educational facilities free of cost to vulnerable orphans of
Rawalakot and surrounding areas in AJ&K, an orphanage has been established in Rawalakot city.
Aghosh Al-Khidmat Rawalakot started functioning from March, 2013. Inauguration ceremony of
Aghosh Rawalakot was held on 14 April, 2013. President of The Government of Azad Jammu and
Kashmir AlhajSardar Muhammad Yaqoob Khan was the Chief Guest while the inauguration
ceremony was presided over by Dr. Hafeez-ur-Rahman President Al-Khidmat Foundation
Pakistan. Dr. Riaz Ahmad President Al-Khidmat Foundation AJK, KhurramFarooq Secretary AKF
AJK, WaseemKhursheed President AKF District Poonch, Muhammad Ahmad Khan sb from
Karachi, Col (r) Khalid MahmoodAbbasi Director AOCP, Col (R) Muhammad SaeedBaig Program
Manager Aghosh, notables of Azad Kashmir, mothers and guardians of orphans attended this
ceremony. Currently 41 orphan children are enrolled. The total capacity of present infrastructure
can accommodate 55 children while after constructing First floor on present building; this can be
raised to accommodate 100 or more children. There had been many activities in Aghosh
Rawalakot during the calendar year which includes visits of famous media personnel of different
TV Channels. To attain remarkable educational performance of students was the real focus;
however participation in co-curricular activities and gain religious orientation was also given the
due consideration in daily program. Five meetings of Advisory Board and 04 meetings of
Executive Committee were also held in Aghosh. All board / Committee members and notables,
who attended all these activities, collectively appreciated the performance of institution.

Final examinations were held during the month of December, 2013. All students had passed their
examinations and promoted to the next grade. Detailed result of each student will be intimated
on receipt from school.

Inauguration Ceremony:
Inauguration ceremony of Aghosh Rawalakot was held on 14 April, 2013. President of The
Government of Azad Jammu and Kashmir AlhajSardar Muhammad Yaqoob Khan was the Chief
Guest while the inauguration ceremony was presided over by Dr. Hafeez-ur-Rahman President
AlKhidmat Foundation Pakistan.
Recreational Trips:
Banjonsa Lake
Aghosh Rawalakot organized a recreational trip to Banjonsa Lake with the courtesy of
SardarAjazAfzal Khan. He accompanied the Aghoshians and arranged refreshment for children
during trip. NazakatMahmood Advocate, Haji Hanifsb and AsifQaziSb also came with AjazAfzal
Khan Sb to accompany Aghoshians. Children enjoyed the trip and had a great fun.
Toli Peer
Aghosh Rawalakot organized a recreational trip to Toli Peer with the courtesy of Muhammad
Shahid Khan Owner of Shalimar Guest House and Shadi Hall Rawalakot. He accompanied the
Aghoshians and arranged all the requirements of trip. His 8 family members and Principal READ
Foundation Model Primary School Kharick Mr. WaseemSayyed also came to accompany
Aghoshians. Children enjoyed the trip and had a great fun.
Visitsof Anchor Persons/Guests& AKFP Officials:
A delegation of Doctors led by Muhammad Ahmad Khan Sb from Karachi visited Aghosh
on 01 May 2013. Members of delegation were 8 in number (5 Males and 3 Females).
Program Manager Aghosh and Administrator Aghosh received the delegation.
Administrator Aghosh gave a presentation to the distinguished guests. All of them
appreciated the cause and work of Aghosh.
Dr. Riaz Ahmad President AKF Kashmir visited Aghosh on 04 June 2013. He met the staff,
praised their commitment with the cause and advised them to be more vigilant. He
passed some time with the children and advised them to work hard.
MujahidBralvi senior Anchor person of CNBC visited Aghosh Alkhidmat Rawalakot on July
18, 2013. He made a documentary of Aghosh and it was telecasted on July20, 2013 on
CNBC. Program Manager Aghosh also paid visit and briefed about the Aghosh Homes
program to the visiting Anchor.
Dr Muhammad Farooqsb ENT Specialist and Dr Muhammad Shafiqsb Child Specialist
visited Aghosh on July 26, 2013 and had their Iftari with Aghoshians. Checkup of
Aghoshians was also managed by them. They paid all the expenses of Iftari.
Anchor persons of Samaa TV visited Aghosh Alkhidmat Rawalakot on July 28, 2013. They
planned to visit again in near future to prepare a documentary on Aghosh Alkhidmat
Rawalakot.
Mr Muhammad Nadeem Khan a government teacher visited Aghosh on 18 of Ramdan and
had his Iftari with Aghoshians. He paid all the expenses of Iftari.
Mr Khalid Nisar, Head master Govt School and a notable from Community visited Aghsoh
on 19 of Ramdan and had his Iftari with Aghoshians. He paid all the expenses of Iftari.
Sardar Muhammad Haleem Khan AmeerJamat e Islami District Poonch visited Aghosh on
21st of Ramdan and had his Iftari with Aghoshians. He paid all the expenses of Iftari.
Program Manager Aghosh Cdr(r) SaeedBaigsb and Coordinator AJK AKF Atif Iqbal Abbasisb visited Aghosh Rawalakot. They held a meeting with Administrator and staff separately.
A delegation of doctors from Karachi visited Aghosh on 23 September, 2013. Directorate AOCP managed this visit. Doctor Muhammad Ahmad sb lead this delegation.
READ Foundation District Team Visited Aghosh on 1st October, 2013. They appreciated Aghosh work. District Manager READ Foundation wrote his comments on comments book.
Administrator Aghosh AlkhidmatBagh visited Aghosh AlkhidmatRawalakot. He participated in the staff meeting too.
Program Manager and Program Officer AOCP visited Aghosh Rawalakot and they had a meeting with the staff of Aghosh Rawalakot. Program Officer helped Admin and Accounts Officer Aghosh Rawalakot to maintain the finance.
Regional Manager AFAQ Mr. Tariq Mahmood Tariq visited Aghosh and had a meeting with the Administrator of Aghosh Alkhidmat Rawalakot. Administrator Aghosh Rawalakot shared the planning for winter camp with the Regional Manager AFAQ. He appreciated the planning and included his suggestions. Regional Manager AFAQ is a well known educationist and he is running his own private college in Rawalakot.
Donations(SADQA):
Aghosh Al-KhidmatRawalakot managed Sadqa of 20 Goats during the Holy Month of
Ramdan. These Sadqas were sponsored by ICNA Canada.
Aghosh Al-KhidmatRawalakot managed Sadqa of 04 Goats during the month of
September.
Distribution of Cloths &Eidi:
Aghosh Alkhidmat Rawalakot distributed cloth for
01 pair of dress, Eidi of Rs 500 and 02 bottles of
RoohAfza to each child. Alkhidmat Foundation AJK
arranged RoohAfza while Syed IhsanullahWaqas
Vice President Al-Khidmat Foundation Pakistan
managed cloth and Eidi. Aghosh Rawalakot also
distributed 01 pair of dress (T- Shirt + Trouser) to
each child for Eid- ul- Fitr.
Sports Material Distribution:
President Al-Khidmat Foundation District PoonchWasimKhursheed Distributed Sports Material
among the Orphans of Aghosh Alkhidmat Rawalakot.
Students Authority Day:
On Sunday 12 September, 2013 in Aghosh Rawalakot Students’ Authority Day is celebrated. Students enjoyed a lot.

Art Exhibition at School:
Art exhibition was held at school on Oct 2013.Students of Aghosh Rawalakot also participated in the exhibition.
Alumni Ceremony at READ Foundation School:
Alumni Ceremony was held at READ Foundation model Primary School Kharick. Students of Aghosh AlkhidamtRawalakot also participated in the Alumni ceremony
Bar-B-Q Gala:
Bar B Q Gala was arranged by Aghoshians on 2nd November, 2013. Students enjoyed a lot.
Sports Day Celebrations:
Sports Day has been celebrated by the management of READ Foundation Model Primary School Kharick. Aghoshians participated in different games like Cricket, Badminton, Tower Making and Eating Competition etc and got prizes.
Meetings:
A meeting has been held on 13 September, 2013 with the staff of READ Foundation Model Primary School Kharick. Agenda of meeting was as under: i. Academic Condition of the students ii. Problems of the students iii. Step taken by school iv. Steps taken by Aghosh v. Planning for weak students
A meeting held on 23rd of November, 2013 of Program Manager Aghosh along with his team with Administrator and Admin & Accounts Officer. He discussed all areas of Aghosh, gave observations and presented his suggestions for the improvement of these areas.
Meeting of Advisory Board was held on 23rd of November, 2013. Program Manager
Aghosh Cdr(r) Muhammad SaeedBaig, Program Officer Aghosh Ali Hasan, Administrator
Aghosh AlkhidmatBagh Muhammad Luqman, Religious Mentor Aghosh AlkhidmatBagh,
Waseemsb Principal Read Foundation School, Khalid Nisarsb Principal Govt High
Schooland Administrator Aghosh AlkhidmatRawalakotSajjad Ahmad Khan participated in
this meeting.
Main points of the previous meeting were discussed with an emphasis to focus100%
implementation.
According to Agendafollowing points were discussed and decisions taken:
i. Annual Examination: Annual examination has been started w e f 23rd of November,
2013. It was decided to collect Model papers from school in order to prepare the
students forexamination.
ii. New Admissions: For coming session, 14 new students will be admitted. Entry tests
for new admissions will be on 15 and 27 of February, 2014. Criteria will be as under:
a. The age of newly admitted students will be from 6 to 10 years. Aghosh will do its
best to admit the students in initial classes. The admission test will be managed at
school level and it will be necessary to qualify this test. Only paternal orphan
students will be admitted.
iii. Winter Vacations: Aghosh will remain closed for one month in winter.
iv. Winter Camp: To address the weak areas of the students, Winter camp will be
arranged for one month duration.
v. Shortage of Water: To meet the shortage of water in Aghosh, Contact with Public
Health Dept.
vi. Carpeting in Residential Blocks: Measure the Floor dimensions in residential blocks to
lay carpets during winter season.
vii. Barber Shop: In near future barber shop will be constructed inside the Aghosh at
some suitable place.
viii. Extension of Shades: Fiber shade will be extended and the gap between the 02
buildings will be covered under one shade, a room will be constructed for the parking
of Suzuki Bolan and the other one will be used for store.
ix. Visits: Invite the journalists, lawyers and businessmen to visit Aghosh. At least one
visit should be ensured in a month.
x. Incentives: Introduce the incentives to create and develop competitive environment
between children, such as Well Dressed Student of the Month or best student of the
month etc.Develop a format for the purpose.
Future Plans:
a) To create a competitive environment, Room of the Week and Student of the Week will be
declared after the observation of different specified areas during the week.
b) 14 more students will be enrolled in the coming session.
c) A badminton court will be prepared to provide children a facility for sports.
d) Expansion of facility to cater more admissions in future.
e) To construct a fabricated building to have a spacious Hall for various activities and indoor
games.
f) Installation of Central Heating system.
g) Provision of Generator to meet the short fall of Electricity.
h) Electric water cooler - 03 in number.
i) Multimedia with LCD to display movies to the children for their entertainment and
enhance learning capabilities and Education.
j) Notables from various walks of life will be approached so that every month at least one
notable or a delegation from the local community may visit Aghosh to meet children.
