About Artcore

Artcore is a visual arts charity, with professional artists working within the local community to enhance lives by sharing knowledge and skills through the medium of art.

Artcore’s long-term objective is to promote serious art and contribute significantly to develop as a vibrant centre for the visual arts within the East Midlands. With the experience of delivering international projects and exhibitions Artcore is committed to reaching arts and crafts activities into the lives of people of all ages, abilities and cultural-ethnic backgrounds.

4

Overview

5

In an uncertain economic climate for the voluntary, cultural and arts sectors we have strongly developed in a variety of ways, in particular through diversifying and creating effective local, national and international partnerships to share resources and ideas, whilst maintaining our core focus: the provision of a contemporary, innovative and quality service to provide community based projects for visual arts in the four core areas. The increasing recognition in the type of services we are providing is one of the many reasons why other organisations, statutory agencies, voluntary sector and community groups are seeking partnerships with us.

Community events, activities, exhibitions and workshops organised by and involving Artcore have been continually well received and supported by the local communities.

This year has seen the Community Participation continue to develop and diversify; we have reached out to the wider community especially through projects such as the Games People Play which put a spectacle to more than 10 venues (gallery and non-gallery) within the East Midlands and attracted more than 35,000 audiences of all ages and abilities and not forgetting some of the festivals like Nottingham Riverside Festival and Derby Feste amongst these.

Our ongoing plans include further developing the four core areas Art in Modern Culture, Art in Education and Learning, Art in Health and Well-being and Art in the Community.

At Artcore we are lucky to have a progressive and forward thinking board, staff and members who have been committed to see the vision develop. This provides a strong backbone to the organisation. I would like to thank them for their individual and collective guidance, expertise and support throughout this past year.

A big thank you to our project volunteers, for their continued support, effort and involvement. All are much needed and their valuable strengths help to keep us going! We are aware that there are further difficult economic times ahead for the arts and cultural sectors: at Artcore we will endeavour to deal with these challenges with integrity, innovation, resolve and commitment.
