dEAR MEMBERs,

I am humbled by the opportunity to stand on the shoulders of our founders, Hugo and Lucy Vianello, and many of you who have shepherded this organization through some challenging and turbulent times. The fact that we remain a viable organization is a testimony to your dedication, tenacity, and commitment to the mission of providing quality symphonic and orchestral musical experiences to the community. We are grateful and we applaud you.

As with other orchestras across America today, in order to remain solvent we are re-engaging, re-examining, and re-creating our role both of and for a diverse community. It is our ambition to engage with the community in ways that create new and distinctive opportunities for creative expression and connections on social, cultural, and economic planes in an ever-shifting landscape.

Looking forward and embracing “Our Story” of impact, community engagement and education, we cannot rest on our artistic laurels. We must strive to assure the validity of the musical experience; strengthen and unify the arms of the Symphony organization; deepen connections within and without the community; define and galvanize our target audiences and finally, to advance the orchestral experience for both young and old, fresh and seasoned.

To this end we are fortunate to engage around our gifted and talented Director of Music, Kirk Trevor, a committed membership, our Board of Directors, our Conservatory organization, our Womens Symphony League, our staff, and our community stakeholders.

In conclusion, I sincerely thank you for your support and enthusiastically pledge to forge ahead utilizing strategic thinking, as we strive to energize, expand, and enhance the musical experience we have come to expect in this community.

Warmly,

gwen Jones, PresidentThe Missouri symphony Board of directors
