1 TURNING POINT ANNUAL REPORT 2017

From our CEODear Friends,

2017 was another year of fantastic successes and outcomes! The following pages illustrate the difference we made and the impact our services have had on thousands. This year we are also very excited to present the short videos done by some members of our Survivors Speakers Bureau! If you haven’t watched them they can be found on our website. Each survivor offers a message about their healing. We thank these brave survivors for sharing their experiences to help educate others!

In 2017 the emergence of the #MeToo movement started conversations about how we treat sexual assault survivors, the dismal results in the criminal justice system as an avenue to hold abusers accountable and the lack of commitment to prevention. Now our state and community has heard about the lifelong consequences of violence on so many! We will continue to advocate and use this opportunity to strengthen prevention in our state and community.

Finally, this is my last Annual Report letter! There have been so many milestones and successes to reflect upon from the opening of the Forensic Nurse Examiner Program to the building of a new emergency shelter. I have been honored to lead this amazing organization since 2001. I thank all of the staff, volunteers and our community partners and allies for your ongoing support and faith in this organization’s mission and work! Also, thank you for supporting my leadership! Not many people have the privilege to come to work and know what they do saves lives, changes futures and opens minds! I leave Turning Point in a place of strength: with highly developed survivor centered services; a fiscally sound organization and a growing donor base that will help us succeed for many years to come. I look forward to watching as Turning Point continues to lead the way on trauma informed services, advocacy and prevention.

Sincerely, Suzanne Coats, CEO
