    Dear members and supporters,

2014 has truly been an amazing journey for Jayma Kunan and we were again able to

cause a difference for so many children in Moldavia and Peru. With a total amount of

more than EUR 28,000 raised we did not only raise the largest amount in our history,

with the construction of the sports ground in HUAYCAN we were also able to complete

our largest project so far. Thank you all so much for your incredible support and generous

donations, without you we would have not been able to make this impact in so many

    little lives!

    Kind regards,

    Your Jayma Kunan Team

    2014 IN A NUTSHELL

    KEY HIGHLIGHTS

The year 2014 was great for Jayma Kunan, not only in terms of projects but also for the

organization itself. Obviously, we could never have been that successful without the help

of hundreds of supporters. At this point, we would like to thank you all very, very much!

Here are some key highlights of 2014:

The Sportsground: Early in the year we were asked by the community of Huaycn to help

them building a sportsground. We agreed, financed and organized the

constructions. On February 14th 2015, several of our members were

present when it was officially inaugurated.

The Bet: Quickly it became clear that normal fundraising wouldnt yield to the

required results to be able to finance the constructions of the

sportsground in a short period. Hence, Quirin and Sven made a public

bet over AUD 20,000 or EUR 13,000 which eventually made Quirin do

a half Ironman (113km triathlon) race and provided the necessary

    funds.

Bigger and better: Also as an organization we grew. We now have four additional

members and raised EUR 28,304 as opposed to EUR 10,127 in 2013.

Furthermore, we now have a new website and our number of fans on

Facebook increased from 312 to 424 which is important for as it

increases the awareness about our cause.

Thank you so much for making this possible! We truly hope that you are as excited about

what was achieved as we are and that you continue to support us in helping people who

    really need it!

MY KEY LEARNINGS From Quirin, member since 2014

Three events had a special impact on me and I would like to share my learnings with you.

When we started our bet to raise $20,000 via Facebook in 6 weeks, we did not only get

positive responses. A few people had doubts, called it optimistic, impossible or stupid to

even try to raise money with such an idea. However, thanks to your amazing and

continuous support, belief and donations we raised over $20,000 in under 6 weeks,

    truly unbelievable!

When I lost my part of the bet with Sven and had to commit to my first Half Ironman, I

could not swim more than a 25m lap, run more than 3km or cycle over 5km. Funny and

crazy was the response of some, simply impossible said the most. 6 months of intense

training later with plenty of frustrations and swearing, but 18kgs lighter, and thanks to

Svens never ending support, I completed my first Half Ironman, swimming 1.8km, cycling

90km and running 21km in 7h. The emotions of the last 2km before finishing are

    something I will never forget.

Finally that Sports ground had to be built in HUAYCAN. To successfully construct

something in a remote country is something many other organisations have failed in,

often caused by problems due to distance, language or cultural differences. Adding that

we had not managed a construction site before, you could have called the chances pretty

low to complete the works to the level we expected. But thanks to a great team on the

ground with an unbelievable commitment we were able to open this amazing sports

ground in February 2015. Thank you so much for believing in us!

So what can we take away from all this? Nothing is impossible! We can all have an

influence and drive change, no matter who we are and how difficult it might appear.

Always believe in yourself and your dreams, never give up and be thankful to the ones

    supporting and believing in you!

I am looking forward to a great 2015 and all the new projects we have planned.

HOW CAN YOU HELP? TWO EXAMPLES

    KITCHEN SALE AT WORK

Of course there are multiple ways to help us. You can donate directly for one of our

projects on either on our Web-, Betterplace.org or on our Facebook Page1. Alternatively

you could supply us with in-kind donations like clothes for instance, either in Germany or

    in Peru.

However, the initiative of a few interns at Rema

TIP TOP Australia Pty. Ltd really impressed us and

we would like to encourage you to copy it at your

    employer.

In February 2014 Rema TIP TOP Australia Pty.

Limited started a very small kitchen sale with

products like chocolate bars, chips, nuts, etc. It

was managed by three interns, Mariah, Nico and

Jack, who take care of the supply chain, the

margins, product selection and also of fast and

slow moving items. Every once in a while they

even baked a cake or cupcakes to sell it there as

well. The success is amazing: with a mere

investment of AU$ 50 at the beginning, they

raised more than AU$ 1,200 in 2014. In 2015 they

will hand their business over to Jennifer and

Daniele, who for sure will continue the good

    work.

We think that their initiative serves as a great role

model and we hope that it may find imitators in

other companies. It is so easy but it makes a real

difference! With the proceeds of the sale we were not only able to cover Jayma Kunans

share of the Christmas party in Huaycn, but also finance the entire inauguration

ceremony of the sportsground including all food & drinks and the balls.

    BOOTHS AT FESTIVALS

The LEO Club Ulm/Neu-Ulm Danubius (the younger version of the Lions Club), is

supporting us for 2 years already and we are extremely grateful for their help. Every year,

they have a booth at the 11 bis 11 (in English 11 to 11) festival in Ulm, Germany,

where they sell drinks and delicious food to visitors. After deducting the material costs

they use one part of their

    profit to pay antibiotics

for Saif, a three year old

boy from Libya who is in

    hospital for a long time

    already due to an

    immunological disease.

    The other part is donated

    to Jayma Kunan and we

    pay the majority of the

    lunches for the kids at

    Camino al Cielo with

    their funds. We find this

    initiative very impressive

    and encourage everyone

    to engage in something similar.

We want to thank every Leo, who was involved in the festival for their support and help!

Your activity takes a lot of pressure

from us, in particular because you

are a constant supporter of our

    cause!

If you want to learn more about

    the Leos, please visit their

    website: http://www.leos-ulm.de/

If you are interested in similar

    initiatives this would obviously be

    appreciated very much! We would

    http://www.leos-ulm.de/

also be happy to provide you with specific causes for which your donation could be used.

As mentioned above already, Leos contribution is used for the lunches whereas the

kitchen sale proceeds were used to finance the inauguration of the sportsground.

    ACHIEVEMENTS 2014

    HUAYCN (LIMA, PERU)

After having ensured the continuous supply of lunches, finishing the building and the

supply of educational material for Camino al Cielo, we were asked to support the entire

community by financing a sportsground. As this projects budget was almost twice as high

as the 2013 annual budget for Jayma Kunan, we would like to dedicate a separate section

to that. Obviously, this project was our main focus for 2014.

Nevertheless we of course still continued our involvement with Camino al Cielo itself by

providing funds but also through personal involvement. The following sections will

    summarise a few highlights.

Food Although we concentrated on the sportsground, it was very important to us also stay

involved with Camino al Cielo itself. One of our main concerns is the provision of a

nutritious and healthy meal for every single kid at the Centre. Again, we would like to

thank Leo-Clubs Ulm/Neu-Ulm Danubius (please refer also to Booths at festivals ) which

used a major part of their net proceeds of their stand at the 11 bis 11 Fest in Ulm

(Germany) to finance seven months worth of lunches in 2014.

Christmas Party The Peruvian company Tasa contacted Jayma Kunan to offer the sponsorship of Camino al

Cielos Christmas Party. Tasa collected donations and sponsored the presents for the kids,

the Xmas lunch and the clowns while Jayma Kunan provided the funds for a magician and

the presents for the teachers. The entire event would not have been possible without

them! We really appreciate their support and help!

Christmas at Huaycn was a lovely experience. The children and their parents gave us an

enthusiastic welcome. These children touched our hearts and we realized that they truly

need support and opportunities to get ahead. Together we enjoyed a clown and a magician

show. We laughed, danced and shared a fantastic morning.

Family Day As part of Camino al Cielos 2014 program, the school decided not to have a Mothers and

a Fathers Day celebration, but to have a Family Day instead. Mayra, one of our members,

was present helping with the organization and having fun with the kids and their parents.

    THE SPORTSGROUND IN HUAYCN

Due to the generous support of more than 140 people and working on the project for

almost 10 months, we were finally able to inaugurate the sportsground on Valentines

    Day 2015.

It was an amazing ceremony in Huaycn with more than 80 parents and very happy kids,

representatives of the community and Camino al Cielo and even a brass band. Some

    friends of Jayma Kunan incl.

Bruno, a sports teacher, joined us

    as well and played volleyball,

    soccer and basketball with the

kids. We also brought a dozen

balls with us and gave every child

present a little back to school

    starter kid.

    What made us particularly happy

was that the mayor of the entire

    district called during the opening

and promised to build bathrooms next to the sportsground. Its just great to see that one

initiative can really cause further positive initiatives.

    Overall, compared to how it

    looked like before, the

    sportsground turned out

great: it is now suitable for

    playing soccer, basketball

    and even volleyball with a

removable net. It is even the

only place in the area with

    real grass. But frankly

    speaking, the best part was

    seeing the kids smiling,

    having fun and enjoying the

place. A lot of people thanked us and promised to take great care of it. We are very

happy that everything worked out so smoothly and that we were now able to get also

engaged in the community of Huaycn.

However, we have to admit that we initially planned to also build a playground just next

to the sportsground, which we unfortunately did not manage to do. The reason was not

the funds, but rather security concerns as we couldnt squeeze it within the fenced area

of the sportsground. The funds budgeted for the playground will now go into the roof of

the kindergarten in Villa el Salvador (see Introducing Programa de Education Temprana

    in Villa el Salvador, Peru).

  • 12 | P a g e w w w . f a c e b o o k . c o m / j a y m a k u n a n

In total we invested close to EUR 17,000 in

the pitch which came basically from two

    sources:

    a) EUR 10,000 was donated by a family who

would like to remain anonymous, a desire we

of course respect. Nevertheless, we would

like to express our deepest gratitude at this

    point!

    b) The Bet (see next chapter), which raised

around EUR 13,000 within only six weeks and forced Quirin to prepare more than six

months for a half Ironman (a 113km triathlon), which he finished on November 30th 2014

    in Sydney, Australia.

    THE BET

So what was this bet about? In March 2014 we realized that the sportsground will be way

more expensive than the EUR 10,000 initially planned. Yet, as we had already announced

that this is going to be our main goal for the year, we somehow had to come up with a

way to raise a lot of money in a very short period of time. During a brainstorming session

we came to the conclusion, that the most attention is created when someone makes a

bet which makes that person suffer in case he loses. Hence, Quirin and Sven agreed on

the bet below which was then shared via Facebook and email.

    LET'S HELP THESE KIDS!

Like us here Jayma Kunan and donate here www.betterplace.org/en/projects/17723

OUR GOAL: Build a sports/playground for kids in Huaycn, a slum in Peru.

THE BET: Can we raise $20k for this by Easter? Quirin says NO, Sven says YES

THE STAKES: If we raise $20k, Quirin has to do a half ironman. If not, Sven will spend his entire annual

leave in Peru help building the sportsground.

YOUR PART: Like our page, donate min $5 and nominate 3 friends to do the same.

And it worked!!!! Thanks to all of you we were able to raise the EUR 13,000 (or AUD

20,000 at that time) within only six weeks! Incredible!!!! Thank you so much!

    CEADIR LUNGA (MOLDOVA)

In 2014 we also continued to support

Gloria in Ceadir Lunga with in-kind

donations. We were very happy that the

    Peter Schweizer Elementary School in

Gundelfingen provided 40 tables and 80

chairs for the 1st 4th graders in Ceadir

Lunga. Of course we are very grateful for

this generous support and would like to

thank the school administration for their

    help.

On top of that, we again sent numerous boxes

of clothes to Moldova. Also, wed like to thank

the pupils of Johann Michael Sailer High

School in Dillingen for their help in loading

the truck with the donations. We were also

working on the provision of more than 20

computers and screens, however, due to some

red tape; we were not able to source the

desktop computers at the time of writing this

    report.

For more information regarding the project Gloria, which is run by Wort und Tat e.V.,

    please visit their website: http://www.wortundtat.de/en/wo-wir-helfen/moldawien/.

    COMMUNICATION

From a communication point of view, 2014 was a pretty busy year for Jayma Kunan. We

built a new website, created a page on the donation platform Betterplace.org, lobbied to

appear in newspapers and massively promoted the AU$ 20,000 bet between Quirin and

    Sven.

    FACEBOOK

Jayma Kunan is obviously aware of the fact that Facebook is an excellent way to continue

building relationships with our fans and keep them aware and up to date regarding our

projects progress. In the course of 2014 Jayma Kunan increased the number of fans on

Facebook by almost 36% from 312 at the end of 2013 to 424 on December 31st 2014. For

2015 it is our goal to grow by 50%. So please help us in this endeavour by visiting us on

www.facebook.com/jaymakunan and liking and sharing our page.

The more reach Jayma Kunan gets, the more people will be aware of what we are doing

and how easy it is to support us. Please note that you do not have to be registered on

Facebook to be able to see our page there. It is open and visible to everybody and you

can also easily make a donation straight into our account by clicking on Help Us if you

wish to. It is absolutely safe as the donation functionality is provided by our partner

    BETTERPLACE.ORG

As part of our fundraising program, we found an easy-to-use online tool to help the

    organization to collect donations: www.betterplace.org

Jayma Kunan created its own profile page on the platform where multiple current needs,

project descriptions and the required funds necessary to implement the project are

listed. For you as a donor, this has the advantage that you can select the cause for which

you would like to make your donation as opposed to simply transferring funds and not

knowing for which project it is going to be used.

Donations can be made via credit card, PayPal or direct debit. This service is free of

    FINANCIAL OVERVIEW AND KEY STATISTICS

    DONATIONS 2014

2014 was an incredible year: overall Jayma Kunan raised a total of EUR 28,304 in donations

and thereby almost tripled the sum it received the year before. Also, we were able to

exceed our target of EUR 22,000 by around 29%.

FIGURE 9: CHANGE IN DONATIONS RECEIVED 2013 AND 2014

Besides an overall increase we also experienced a particularly strong increase of donations

    by individuals.

However, the picture shown in Figure 9: Change in Donations received 2013 and 2014 is probably a bit misleading as almost 50% of the 2014 donations were made via Betterplace.org (please also refer to the chapter Betterplace.org).

Since most donations we received via that platform were anonymous, we cannot tell with

certainty whether a donor was an individual or an institution. Due to simplicity reasons, we

assumed that all donations via Betterplace have been made by individuals. This leads to

the fact that 82% of all donations have been made individuals and only 18% by companies

and institutions as opposed to 2013, where this ratio was 56% to 44%.

Overall Jayma Kunan had 144 donors in 2014 and only five (or 3.5%) of them have been

either a company or an institution. The rest were individuals.

The majority of the donations received in 2014 obviously went into to the construction of

the sportsground, followed by the food and Jayma Kunans share of the Christmas party.

    FIGURE 10: UTILIZATION OF DONATIONS

    ADMIN COSTS

Another positive financial fact of the year 2014 was that our Admin costs went down

significantly from EUR 708 in 2013 to EUR 249. The primary reasons were that all

foundation and setup costs were gone and that Jayma Kunan didnt need to rent a storage

    facility anymore.

Please note that it is our goal to cover all administrative costs with our membership fees

to ensure that all donations arrive exactly where they are needed without any deductions.

Given that Jayma Kunan received membership fees EUR 500 in 2014, we made a surplus

of EUR 251 in 2014 and EUR 252 if 2013s surplus is added. The surplus however, is urgently

needed, as our admin costs (such as bank fees, insurance premiums or transfer fees) are

expected to rise again as we will now start transferring money directly to Camino al Cielo

as opposed to using the transfers of a Congregation on which we could piggyback. This

obviously entails that we have to bear the transfer fees of around EUR 35 per transfer.

FIGURE 11: ADMIN COSTS 2014 VS. MEMBERSHIP FEES. DONATIONS

All of the above of course implies, that Jayma Kunan again stood up to its primary value to

not spend a single Euro or Dollar donated for administrative expenses. This makes us very

    proud!

Please note that two of our members did not have pay any membership fees in the year

2015. One of them covers all our IT related costs and the other made several trips to

Huaycn this year covering all costs herself. Hence, both of them are membership fee

exempt if you like. A third member paid his for 2014 and 2015 in one go and we allocated

it to 2015 as we already made a surplus in 2014.

    DISTRIBUTION OF DONATIONS AND DONORS

Figure 12 provides you with an overview of Jayma Kunans cash in- and outflows 2014. As

you can see, we actually made a significant surplus over the course of the year which was

obviously not our intention at the beginning. However, it was clear that we would need a

significant amount of money to finance the first stage of the refurbishment of the

kindergarten in Villa el Salvador (please also refer to Introducing Programa de Education

Temprana in Villa el Salvador, Peru) early in 2015. In fact, by the time this report was written,

the first instalment was already transferred to the project and the construction works

    commenced.

    OUTLOOK 2015

INTRODUCING PROGRAMA DE EDUCATION TEMPRANA IN VILLA EL SALVADOR, PERU

We are very happy to announce that we will also have a new project as of 2015: The

Kindergarten Programa de Education Temprana in Villa el Salvador2. We were

approached by a close friend of Marcelas family who heard about a kindergarten which

didnt have a playground for more than 20 years and also lost its government support.

FIGURE 13: A KINDERGARTEN IN VILLA EL SALVADOR JK SUPPORTS (GREEN BUILDING)

After our visit it was clear though, that the playground was a rather low priority given

that the roof of the kindergarten had massive wholes and was simply laying on top of the

walls of the rest of the building. The house has two big rooms which serve as classrooms

(one for babies from 0 1 year and the other one for kids from 2-4 years. In the

afternoon the older kids come in) and an adjacent bathroom. The problem with both

2 Villa El Salvador (VES) is an urban, largely residential coastal district on the outskirts of Lima on the coast of the Pacific. It began as a pueblo joven (shantytown) in the vast, empty sand flats to the south of Lima in 1970 because of the urgent housing needs of immigrant families who had left the sierra of Peru. Villa El Salvador evolved into a huge urban zone, largely self-organizing

facilities is though, that the classrooms do

not have an adequate floor (just concrete)

and the bathroom is in a very poor condition

and needs urgent renovation. Also, toys are

scarce goods. In total there are around 40

kids and babies attending the kindergarten.

Hence, we decided on the spot to jump in

and help. However, we convinced the

    representatives of two things:

    a) The priorities look as follows:

    Roof, floor, bathroom, toys, playground

    b) The community has to be involved in the project as well. We agreed on using a

quid-pro-quo approach. That means, that it is the communitys job to ensure the

security of the kindergarten area by

installing a fence. In return we build the

roof and the floor. The community

cleans up the area of the future

playground and Jayma Kunan builds one

Everyone is very happy with the

    arrangement and the planning phase

for the roof has already begun. It is our

goal to have the roof, the floor, the

    bathroom and the playground finished

within the next 12 months. Also we

want to provide new toys by obtaining

    in-kind donations locally in Peru.

    BUDGET AND GOALS 2015

In 2015 we have big plans and ambitious targets again which is mainly due to the

kindergarten in Villa el Salvador, which we decided to support. This in turn means that we

need your help and support probably more than ever!
