LADIES AND GENTL EMEN-

In conformity witb the usual custom, your Colllmittee has the honour to present the Annua l Roport and Balance Sheets for the year ended June 30th, 1911, and in doing !iO wish to thank the many subscribers for their generous and continued support to the Institution. In the tables which follow will be found complete information regarding the work done by the Hospital, and the financ ial position of the Institution at the present time.

During the year 1312 cases have been treated as l n·door patients. I n the Out-patient department 1514 cases were afforded relief; the total number of their visits amounting to 6 182, while the number of casualties was 578.

The total income for the past year was [4916 Is. 3d., and the expendi ture, [5401 13s. 7d., leavin!{ a debit balnncc of [455 12s. 4d. on the transactions for the twelve months.

T he expenditure compares favuorably with that of previous years . T he datly average of 90 for the present year makes the average cost per occupied bed [55, which is satisfnctory, and below the mean cost per bed of the J Iospitals of Victoria.

In view of the promised legislation for Charitable Institu· tions, your Committee has been content to keep the buildings, &c., in working order. Improvements have not been considerecl, with the exception of the hot water radiation for the QHeen Victoria W omen's ·ward, which is now being installed. by the consent of the Treasurer, [600 was allowed to be expended

l3y the death ot l\[r. Andrew Anderson the Hosp•tal loses one of its oldest subscribers. Mr .. \nden;on was a member of Committee for many years, :lml was :111 Ex -President. 'vVe record his death with much sorrow.

Several changes have taken place on the paid staff. Drs. Brennan, O'Sullivan and Bennett havinl-( resigned their posi· lions, Drs. Lemon :1.lld Shelton were appuinled to the onices of Senior and Junior l~estdent l\1edical Ollicers respectively. On the resignation of Mr. Dyer as Dispenser, Miss Haylock was appointed to 1111 that position.

' 1. 'l'he object of the Institution is to aO.'o••d Medical and S urgical Aid to poor persons requiri.ug it, in·espoctive of country Ol' creed, and for casualties; but no person wbo s hall meet with casualties, fl~d be found able to pay for aid elsewhere, shall recei•e further than temporary assistance.

2. Tbe Institution shall consi~t of 11 President, two Vice-Presidents, Tre,.s ure~, Governors, and Contributors.

3. The following shall be the q ualifications and privileges of Governors and Contributors :-

4. Annual Subscriptions must be paid in advance for the current year, such year to be computed from the day on which such subscription is paid, and no Governor or Contributor'-will be entit led to any privilege until th~ subscription be paid.

5 . L ifo, H onorary, and Annual Governors, Life nnd Annual Subscribers, all Honorary Officers and other Contributors of £1 and upwards pc1· anuum, shllll be entitled to one vote at all meetings of Govorm>ra and Contributor& to the Hospitnl.

6. No person shall vote as a Governor or Contributor while be is 11 salaried officer or p upil of the Hospital ; nol' nny n~w Go•e•·oor ot· Contributor unless his subscription shall bave been paid one month previously.
