Twenty Seventh Sunday in Ordinary Time
Welcome To The New Annunciation Parish!
Uniting The Catholic Community of Newington * Established June 29, 2017
We extend a warm welcome to all new families/individuals. Our parish is nourished by your
presence. We hope you feel at home here, and want to make Annunciation Parish YOUR parish.
Every family in the parish should be properly registered. New parishioners should register at the Parish
Office. Single adults over 21 years of age should register separately from parents.
It is necessary to be registered to arrange baptisms, marriages, enroll in Religious Education classes,
and to obtain sponsor certificates for baptism and confirmation.

Daly Notes...
A couple things I would like to bring to your attention this week.
The past month has presented us with a seemingly unprecedented number of natural disasters.
Next weekend a special collection will be taken up for the victims of Hurricanes Irma and Maria.
You were most generous in helping those devastated by Hurricane Harvey, and now we have to
ask you to help those in Florida and Puerto Rico. Many of us can’t imagine what these people
have gone through and will continue to go through as they try to get their lives back to normal.
This emergency collection will be used to both support the humanitarian and recovery efforts of
Catholic Charities USA and to provide pastoral and rebuilding support to impacted dioceses.
Please be as generous as you are able. Again, in advance, thank you for your generosity.
Regarding the availability of Mass intentions, there are open Masses, some on Sundays and
many on weekdays, available this year at Saint Mary and Holy Spirit. Anyone who would like a
Mass celebrated for a specific intention should inquire at the rectory either in person or by
telephone.
SACRAMENTALS Why do we sign ourselves with the Holy Water?
We are sacramental people, and the sacraments are what define us as Catholics. Sacramentals
are holy objects specially blessed by Ordained Catholic Priests and Deacons for the sole purpose
of what such an object is intended, and mostly used for private devotions. These include rosary,
statues, crucifix, candles, medals, Bible, scapula, sacred photos, holy water and many others.
This weekend our focus would be on holy water.
Holy water reminds as of our Baptism, and during Mass, funerals and other para-liturgical
activities like blessing of homes, new sites, offices etc. The church has holy water at its
entrance, where we are encouraged to bless ourselves with the sign of the cross to recall our
spiritual Baptism, our response to the call of holiness, and the promise to reject Satan and his
worldly allurement. Thank you, God bless!
Please feel free to write to me with any question bothering you about your faith, and I will do my
best to share with you with the Word of God.
Thank you, Father William

A Thank You From
Family Promise to our
Religious Education Program
Thank you so much for your generous
donation of pillows to our organization. This
was a wonderful donation from the 10th grade
Confirmation class from Annunciation Parish.
As you are aware, we serve homeless families with
children, and this donation will assist them greatly, as
each person receives a new pillow upon entry to the
program. It is because of organizations like yours, that we
can continue to help our families.
Thank you once again, and best to you all for a wonderful
happy and healthy fall.
