Blessed are you who are poor, for the Kingdom of God is yours.
Blessed are you who are now hungry, for you will be satisfied. Psalm 19:15
Dear Parents,
Two weeks into the school year and things continue to be going GREAT here at Annunciation. It’s great to see the classrooms running smoothly and getting into some strong learning this week. Some teachers commented on how the children were a bit reserved and quieter than normal at the beginning of the year, likely due to the extended absence from school and the masks, but they are warming up to the routines of the classrooms and beginning to engage in the lessons. One routine that has been greatly missed is attending mass with the children. I am happy to say that all children in grades 1-8 have returned to mass in this past week and will continue to attend with their class once each week. It was wonderful to share in the traditions and Eucharist with the children. We are aware that TADS recently made changes that negatively affect families making online payments using their checking account. TADS has added an extra processing fee to the transaction. We are in the process of working with TADS to change our account type in order to not produce these fees. We will update you when we know more.
Please note this REMINDER: If your child is in the PRIMARY building, you must call the school office at 630-851-4300 before dropping off your child late to school (after 8:35am) or picking up your child for an appointment. Calling the school enables us to sign in your child over the phone and alert the primary building of your arrival for drop off or pick up.

COVID Symptom Protocol
Last month, the Illinois Department of Public Health outlined a decision tree providing guidance on
symptomatic individuals and the exclusion policies to follow based on each circumstance. We
understand that many suspected COVID symptoms are common ailments seen in children and are
likely not an indication of a positive COVID case. With that being said, we want to provide a rational
and safe approach to symptom protocols. Please note the following guidelines to help us keep all our
students and staff healthy. https://www.isbe.net/Documents/IDPH-COVID19-Exclusion-Decison-Tree.pdf
PRE-EXISTING/SEASONAL CONDITIONS– If your child has a pre-existing or seasonal
ailment, such as allergies, migranes, IBS, lactose intolerance, etc., it will be helpful to have a
record of this ailment for diagnosis purposes. Please obtain a note from your child’s doctor or
health care provider stating the condition and submit it to the school office for our records.
STAY HOME WHEN SICK - If your child exhibits symptoms prior to the start of a school day,
please keep your child home and call the office to document the symptoms. The school office
appreciates a detailed record of all symptoms.
HEALTH CARE PROVIDER – We will be following the IDPH guidance which STRONGLY
encourages families to consult with their health care provider about all COVID symptoms and
diagnostic testing questions. In order to return to school after symptoms, we will require a
consultation with the child’s doctor or provider and a note or email from the provider. If there
is no follow up with a health care provider, your child will remain out of school for 10 calendar
days after the onset of symptoms.
FEVER – If your child is discovered to have a fever during the school day, the parent will be
called to pick up the child. Please monitor your child for other symptoms and consult with
your child’s doctor. If your child is fever free after 48 hours without medicine, he/she may
return to school as long as no other symptoms have developed and your child’s doctor has
approved the return to school.
VOMITING – We know that young children vomit for a variety of reasons that do not often
have accompanying symptoms. If your child vomits here at school, the parent will be called to
pick up the child. We are extending the stay at home period from 24 to 48 hours after vomiting
as long as no other symptoms have developed. This extended time period will enable a parent
to look for any new symptoms. If no other symptoms develop, we will not require a doctor’s
note to return to school.
SIBLINGS – If a child is home sick or sent home from school with fever or vomiting, any
siblings here at school will also need to remain home or be sent home for the 48 hour period
while monitoring the situation.
Treat yourself to a delicious meal with no cooking! All day long tomorrow, Thursday, September 10, is Annunciation Day at Panera, 2987 Kirk Road. Panera will donate a percent of sales back to Annunciation’s Home and School. Please see the flyer at the end of the newsletter for more information.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- With some new protocols in place, we feel that we can now safely begin milk distribution for students desiring milk. We will begin providing milk on Monday, September 21 for those who would like to order it. The first order will be for the time period of September 21 through October 30, 2020. Milk is available in one half pint cartons of low fat chocolate milk or 1% white milk. Students may order two cartons of milk, and these cartons do not have to be of the same type. Milk orders will be taken on SchoolSpeak through Friday, September 18, 2020. The cost for milk is $12.25 for the period of September 21 – October 30, which is approximately 43 cents per day. A convenience fee will be applied. Please do not miss the order deadline of September 18. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Monday, September 14, is Picture Day. Picture order forms were sent home last
week with every child. Ordering pictures is completely optional; however, every child
will be photographed so that he/she may be included in the class composite. Lifetouch
highly encourages parents to place orders online, and offers some incentives for doing
so. If parents do not order online, students should bring their order forms to school on
Monday, September 14 and hand them directly to the photographer.
Class composite pictures are included with every package at no additional cost.
Uniforms do not need to worn on Picture Day, however, all rules for dress down days do apply.
Students working remotely are invited to come to school for pictures so they will be included in
the class composite. Any parents who would like to have their remote learners get pictures
taken should bring them to the office between 8:35 and 8:45 a.m. Remote learners will have
pictures taken before classes are called to the gym. If you plan to bring your remote learner
to school, please leave a message at the office by Thursday, September 10 so we know who
to expect. Parents will wait outside while their child’s picture is taken. Parents my order
portrait packages online at mylifetouch.com using Picture Day ID EVTPBX64 , picture
forms are not necessary.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Please make sure your child has a jacket on cool days, and on rainy days, an
umbrella. As we begin to see the end of the summer weather and start of cooler
temperatures and rainy days, please remember that your child will most likely
be outside at some point during the day, whether it is waiting to enter the
building in the morning, recess time, or walking to church. Students in the
primary building walk to the upper building at some point on most days to
participate in P.E., technology class, art, music, etc. so it is very important
these students have an umbrella available to use when necessary.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
While our school calendar shows next Friday, September 18, as Grandparent’s Day,
unfortunately due to the current situation we will not be able to invite grandparents to
visit school on that day.
Dismissal will remain at 11:55 p.m. and there will be no after-school care on that day.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Is it possible that you are a coach still carrying around a key card to the building
that you have had since last March when we had to close school? If so, please
return it to the office at this time. All key cards have been disabled, but we would
like the cards back so we can re-issue them at a future date. Thank you!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
If your child brings a water bottle to school, please find a way to mark it
with his/her name; possibly on the bottom. We are acquiring quite a
collection of lost water bottles!
