Ziyarah of Imam Musa ibn

Jafar al Kadhim (a.s)

Another Form of of Ziyarah

Shaykh al-Mufid, al-Shahid, and

Muhammad ibn al-Mashhadi have

said the following:

If you intend to visit Imam al-Kazim

(a.s) in Baghdad, you may first bathe

yourself with the intention of visiting

him, direct to the holy shrine, stop at

its gate, ask permission of entrance,

and then enter there while saying the

following words:

(عميه السالم)زيارة اإلمام موسى بن جعفر الكاظم Ziyarah of Imam Musa ibn Jafar al Kadhim (a.s)

م صو الل ل علد وا محم

د محمO' Alláh send Your blessings on

Muhammad

and the family of Muhammad.

allahumma salli àla muhammadin wa ali

muhammadin


ي ن بسم الل حم حم الر الرIn the Name of Alláh,

the All-beneficent, the All-merciful.

bismi allahi alrrahmini alrrahimi


يبسم ي ا لل لل وبٱ

In the Name of Allah (I begin), in Allah

(I trust),

bismi allahi wa billahi


يوف سبو ا للon the way of Allah (I proceed),

wa fi sabili allahi


ة رسل وعل يمل ا للand on the norm of the Messenger of

Allah,

wa àla millati rasuli allahi


ي صل ي ا لل ليعل وا

may Allah bless him and his

Household,

salla allahu àlayhi wa alihi


الم وا لس ٱء عل ياول ا للand peace be upon the intimate

servants of Allah.

wa alssalamu àla awliya'i allahi


ٱ هر م الم عل يالس ف ا لل ا الرضظلمٱت

Peace be upon you, O light of Allah in

the darkness of the earth.

alssalamu àlayka ya nura allahi fi zulumati

al-ardi


You may then walk until you stop in front of the grave of Musa ibn

Ja`far (A). When you stop there, you may say the following words:

ٱ ول م الم عل يالس ا للPeace be upon you, O Allah’s intimate

servant.

alssalamu àlayka ya waliyya allahi


ة ٱ حج م الم عل يالس ا للPeace be upon you, O Allah’s

argument.

alssalamu àlayka ya hujjata allahi


ٱ بٱب م الم عل يالس ا للPeace be upon you, O door to Allah.

alssalamu àlayka ya baba allahi


م المت د اه الة اش ا لصI bear witness that you performed the

prayers,

ashhadu annaka aqamta alssalata


ت ثهٱة وا ا لز

defrayed the poor-rate,

wa atayta alzzakata


معروفوامرت ل بٱ

enjoined the right,

wa amarta bilma`rufi


ت عن مونروه ا ل

forbade the wrong,

wa nahayta àn almunkari


ت ن جٱب وثل حق ثالوثي ا ل

recited the Book as it should be

recited,

wa talawta alkitaba haqqa tilawatihi


دت ف يوجٱ ٱدى ا لل حق جstrove for the sake of Allah as exactly

as strife should be,

wa jahadta fi allahi haqqa jihadihi


وصبرت ف جوبي ا الذى عل محجسبٱ

endured harm for His sake expecting

His reward,

wa sabarta àla aladha fi janbihi muhtasiban


وعبدثي مخلصٱ اثٱك حجك ن

ا ل

and served Him sincerely until death

came upon you.

wa àbadtahu mukhlisan hatta ataka

alyaqinu


م د اه اشي اول لل

وبرسلي بٱ

I bear witness that you are the closest

to Allah and His Messenger

ashhadu annaka awla billahi wa birasulihi


م يرسل ا بن واه حكٱ ا للand you are verily the son of Allah’s

Messenger.

wa annaka ibnu rasuli allahi haqqan


ابرا ي إل من اعدائم ا لل

I repudiate your enemies in the

resence of Allah

abra'u ila allahi min a`da'ika


ب واثكري إل االثم ا لل بم

and seek nearness to Allah through

my loyalty to you.

wa ataqarrabu ila allahi bimuwalatika


الي عٱرفٱ بحكم ٱ م جم اثI have come to you, O my master,

recognizing your right,

ataytuka ya mawlaya àrifan bihaqqika


الٱ ٱئم م الولdeclaring loyalty to your loyalists,

muwaliyan li'awliya'ika


العدائم معٱدٱ and incurring the animosity of your

enemies;

muàdiyan li'a`da'ika


شفع ل عود ربم فٱ

so, (please) intercede for me with your

Lord.

fashfa` li ìnda rabbika


ٱ بن رسل م الم عل يالس ا لل Peace be upon you, O son of Allah’s

Messenger.

alssalamu àlayka yabna rasuli allahi


You may then throw yourself on the grave, kiss it, place both your

cheeks on it, turn to the side of the Imam’s head, stop there, and say

the following words:

م صٱدق د اه اشI bear witness that you are veracious.

ashhadu annaka sadiqun


ت هٱصحٱ ادYou fulfilled [your duty] sincerely,

addayta nasihan


ت اموٱ ولل

spoke honestly,

wa qulta aminan


ت شدا ومضand passed away as martyr.

wa madayta shahidan


م ثؤثر ل عم دى عل

ا ل

You never preferred blindness to the

true guidance

lam tu'thir àman àla alhuda


م ثمو من حق ول

بٱطو إل

and never slanted from right to wrong.

wa lam tamil min haqqin ila batilin


ي صل م ا لل علMay Allah send blessings upon you,

salla allahu àlayka


بٱئم وابوٱئم وعلٱرن ا ا لط

upon your fathers, and upon your

sons the immaculate.

wa àla aba'ika wa abna'ika alttahirina


م م إل ا عجمدت اللO Allah, I have had recourse to You,

allahumma ilayka i`tamadtu


You may then kiss the grave and offer a two-unit prayer. You may then

offer any prayer you like. After that, you may prostrate yourself and

say the following supplicatory words:

م لصدت وإلmade my way to You,

wa ilayka qasadtu


ت وبفضلم رجhoped for Your favoring,

wa bifadlika rajawtu


ذيولبر إمٱم ا ل اوجبت عل

طٱعجي زرت visited the tomb of my Imam the

obedience to whom You have made

obligatory on me,

wa qabra imamiya alladhi awjabta àlayya

taàtahu zurtu


ت ل س م ث وبي إل

and I have chosen him as my means to

You;

wa bihi ilayka tawassaltu


ذيفبحكم اوجبت ا ل عل

هفسم so, [I beseech You] in the name of their

rights which You have made

incumbent upon Yourself,

fabihaqqihimu alladhi awjabta àla nafsika


مؤمون ا غفر الدي ولل ل ول

forgive me, my parents, and the

believers,

ighfir li wa liwalidayya wa lilmu'minina


ٱ هر م O All-generous.

ya karimu


ائج م لد علمت ح اللO Allah, You have already known my

requests;

allahumma qad àlimta hawa'iji


You may then put your right cheek on the ground and say the following

supplicatory words:

فصو د عل ل محمد وا محمٱ وا لض

so, bless Muhammad and the

Household of Muhammad and settle

them for me.

fasalli àla muhammadin wa ali

muhammadin waqdiha


ت ذهب م لد احص اللO Allah, You have certainly taken

account of my sins;

allahumma qad ahsayta dhunubi


You may then put your left cheek on the ground and say the following

supplicatory words:

د ل محمد وا فبحق محم

so, [I beseech You] in the name of

Muhammad and the Household of

Muhammad,

fabihaqqi muhammadin wa ali

muhammadin


صو د عل ل محمد وا محم

send blessings upon Muhammad and

the Household of Muhammad,

salli àla muhammadin wa ali muhammadin


ٱ بمٱ اهت وا غفر ق عل وثصدلي ا

forgive them, and grant me as charity

that which suits You.

waghfirha wa tasaddaq àlayya bima anta

ahluhu


شنرا Thanks.

You may then return to the position of prostration and repeat the

following word one hundred times:

You may then raise your head from prostration and pray for your

needs.
