NAME:____________________________________ Biochemistry Visual Reference Guide
Use the boxes below to draw a monomer and polymer of each macromolecule. You may also draw pictures of examples of each macromolecule.
Draw a picture that represents a monomer and a polymer. Label each. On the polymer indicate with arrows where energy is stored between the monomers that create the polymer.
Carbohydrate
Lipid
Protein
Energy of macromolecules (Caloric Value) You want to load up on high calorie food for energy. Divide your plate containing all three macromolecules based on the calories per gram. You may include a picture of the macromolecules but NOT label with any words.
Energy of Macromolecules (Used for Energy) You are running a race tomorrow and tonight you are fueling up for the big event. Divide the plate below based on the macromolecules you will want to have to supply your body with enough energy for the race.
STORED ENERGY
Answer Key
Circle and label the reactants. Put a box around and label the products.
6CO2 + 6H2O ------> C6H12O6 + 6O2 REACTANTS PRODUCTS
Activation Energy/Effect of Enzymes Below is a graph of a chemical reaction without an enzyme. Add a line that shows the reaction if the enzyme was present. Label the Activation Energy for EACH chemical reaction.
Enzyme Specificity Below is an enzyme and the substrates they specifically interact with. Draw the product of the reaction the enzymes have on those substrates by creating/breaking bonds.
Changes in enzymes structure Draw an enzyme structure and then draw an enzyme after it experiences higher pH or temperature.
