- Built-in HPC for New CFD Products
• Premium and Enterprise (solver) license has 4 built-in HPC tasks enabling to run up to 4 parallel cores without requiring additional HPC licenses
• Note:
– In order to go beyond 4 parallel cores for a single simulation, these built-in HPC tasks can be combined with HPC tasks enabled by either ANSYS HPC licenses or an ANSYS HPC Workgroup license
– AIM uses 2 cores and does not use additional HPC

• Basic option for low-level HPC (e.g. 3-4 cores)
• Each core in a parallel run consumes 1x HPC task
• Mechanical licences include 2x free cores
• Becomes expensive if used for large number of cores – hence other options are available!

Option 3 – ANSYS HPC Pack
• Provides large scale parallel capabilities on individual runs
• A single HPC Pack provides 10 cores. Adding additional packs quadruples every time 8 cores (32,128,512, 2028, etc.)
• Cores from one Pack cannot be split across multiple runs, and/or combined with individual HPC or HPC Workgroup licenses

ANSYS HPC and ANSYS HPC Workgroup give full, flexible use of a pool of licenses.
ANSYS HPC Pack gives “quick” scale-up but is more restrictive in how users can use it.
The ability to be more flexible is why the HPC Workgroup options cost more than the HPC Packs.
