shown in the photo, and fixwith fast-drying glue. You havenow made the anti-aircraft gunswith shielding.

5Hold piece 6, as shown in the photo, and, with

fast-drying glue, fix a piece 4in each cavity. Place the pieces 4with the hole at the bottom.

4Checking against Step 6, fitpieces 4 in piece 6. If they

12Following Steps 11 and12, fix the other three

anti-aircraft guns with shieldingon the starboard side of thecommand bridge.

7From a distance of 30cm, spraymetal primer evenly on the

anti-aircraft guns with shielding. It is easier if you secure the pieces on cardboard with double-sidedadhesive tape.

10Take the command bridge andall the anti-aircraft guns with

shielding built so far. As shown in thephoto, fix with fast-drying glue oneof the guns on the forward port sideof the command bridge. Make theedge of the guns fit the contours ofthe circle drawn on the bridge. Thebarrels should point to the side.

11As in the previous step, fixtwo more anti-aircraft guns

with shielding, both in the centreand on the port side aft of thebridge.

9When the paint is dry, paint thesmall cavities with a mixture of

matt black and battleship greywatercolours in a ratio of 1 to 2.

14Smooth pieces 1, 2 and 3with sandpaper grain no.

800, without changing theiroriginal shape. Fill any holes ordepressions on the surface withputty, wait until dry and removeany excess with sandpaper grainno. 800.

13Remove any irregularitiesand projections from

pieces 1, 2 and 3 with the metalfile. Where the file cannot reach, use the tip of the craft knife, being careful not to damage thesurrounding parts.

15From a distance of 30cm,spray metal primer evenly

on pieces 1, 2 and 3. It is easier ifyou secure the pieces oncardboard with double-sidedadhesive tape.

16When the primer is dry, spray a light coat of

battleship grey on pieces 1, 2and 3 from a distance of 30cm.Repeat several times and fromdifferent angles, always allowingthe paint to dry.

19Place a piece 2 with the flatside facing you. In the centre

of the circle, fix a piece 1 with fast-drying glue, as shown in thephoto (right). Then fix on theopposite side of piece 1 another piece2. Work on a flat surface, as shown inthe photo (far right), so that thebases of the pieces 2 are aligned.

17Secure pieces 3 on awooden strip and paint the

cavities with a mixture of mattblack and battleship greywatercolours in a proportion of 1 to 2. You have now made themachine-gun firing controlmechanisms.

22As in Step 21, fix the othermachine-gun firing control

mechanisms on the starboard side.

18Fix pieces 1 on awooden rod and paint

the cavities with a mixture ofmatt white and light brownwatercolours in the proportionof 10 to 1.

21Place the bridge as shownin the photo and, with

fast-drying glue, fix one of themachine-gun firing controlmechanisms on the port side (Figure B).

20In Step 19 you made awinch. Make another and fix

both with fast-drying glue on therear deck of the ship, checkingagainst Figure A.

34Cut piece 5 to get threesegments 6mm long.

Then, as shown in the photo, fitpiece 5 against the ruler and, starting from the extreme right, make reference marks at intervalsof 6mm.

29To make the windows of therangefinders, cut two squares

with sides of about 3mm from asheet of silver foil. Then, as shown inthe photo, fix them in the recesses ofpieces 2 and 3 with fast-drying glue.

32Detach pieces 4 by cuttingalong the joins with the craft

knife.

33Smooth the cuts of pieces 4with the metal file.

31As in Step 30, fix piece 3 inthe recess on the right side

of piece 1. You have built themain guns turret.

36Use the metal file tosmooth the ends of each

5 segment, taking care not toreduce the length.

35With the long-nosedpliers, cut piece 5 at the

marks made in Step 34.

37Divide each segment 5 inhalf (as shown in the

photo, you should hold the tip ofthe segment in order not to losethe piece once cut). This resultsin six segments, eachapproximately 3mm in length.

38From a distance of 30cm,spray metal primer evenly

on pieces 4 and the segments of5. It is easier if you secure themto cardboard with double-sidedadhesive tape.

30Holding piece 1 as shown inthe photo, fix piece 2 with

fast-drying glue in the recess on theleft side.

40Checking against the photo, drill a hole with the

1.2mm-diameter bit in the mainguns turret completed in Step 31.Drill another hole on the oppositeside. Some part may be suppliedpre-drilled, in which case Steps 40to 45 will be not be required.

39When the primer is dry, froma distance of 30cm spray the

pieces created in Step 38 with a lightcoat of battleship grey. Repeat theoperation several times from differentangles, always allowing the paint todry between coats.

46As in Steps 43 and 44, fitpieces 4.

42In each hole drilled inStep 40 insert a segment

5, fixing it with fast-drying glueso that it comes about 1.2mmout of the main guns turret.

45As in Steps 40 to 42, fit thesegments 5 on the main guns

built earlier. If the holes are toosmall, after making a mark with anawl, proceed with the hand drill, first using the 0.5mm-diameter bitand then the 1.2mm.

43On the sides of the mainturret, at the points with

the stamped shape of the rungladder, fix a segment of piece 4with fast-drying glue, afterhaving cut it to size. Rememberto do this on both sides.

41Checking against Step 42, fita segment 5 in the holes. If

the segment only goes in withdifficulty, widen the hole with theround file, as shown in the photo.

44As in Step 43, fix a piece4 on the back of the main

guns turret at the point with thestamped form of the ladder. Donot fit the ladder on the uppersurface nor, for the moment, onthe front.
