Birth Born June 25, 1852 in Catalonia, Spain Antoni Gaudi as a child suffered numerous

times from rheumatic fevers that were common at the time. Being sick caused him to be alone most of the time, and it also allowed him to spend lots of time alone with nature.

It was thought that the exposure to nature inspired him later to use the natural shapes and themes into his works.

Early Education When Gaudi went to school, he attended

the Escola Tècnica Superior d'Arquitectura in Barcelona from 1873 to 1877.

He didn’t excel in many subjects, but he did well in trial drawings and projects

After five years of hard work, he achieved the title of an Architect.

Soon after he was awarded, he worked on plans and designs for buildings. Most of these are found in Barcelona.

Other than work… Gaudi was very religious (Catholic)

and he stopped designing buildings and became a devoted Catholic

Also, he devoted his life to his Sagrada Familia

The Sagrada Familia was a building that has 18 towers 12 4 for the 4 evangelists, one for Mary and one for Jesus

Reasons he stopped designing Gaudi’s later years were filled with heartfelt

times and Gaudi's attitude changed and so did his desire to work.

His decline in work was due to the losses of his niece Rosa Egea and a faithful collaborator named Francesc Berenguer Mestres

After this, he stopped having his picture taken, refused to talk to reporters and became isolated in the Crypt in Sagrada Familia

Death Antoni Gaudi died by getting run over

from a tram. Cab drivers didn’t give him a ride for he

might not of been able to pay the fare because he appeared as a poor person, wearing raggedy clothes

His friends, when they went to the hospital to get him, Gaudi said that “He belongs here with the poor.” He died three days later.
