Local CDC Holders registered in the contract list of Directorate of Shipping Services went on Relay Hunger Strike for four and a half month with the demands of Seniority wise enrollment on Roster and Engagement of Local Crews in Mainland Sector Vessels under Andaman & Nicobar Administration. The Andaman & Nicobar Administration with the Sailors Union of India has taken the decisions of implementation of Seaman Provident Fund for registered 355 contract CDC Holders, implementation of six months article, no further addition in the registered 355 contract list of CDC Holders and implementation of offer given by the SCI, CMD to the Lt. Governor to engage local Holders in one of the three vessels in SCI Roster. Our Relay Hunger Strike ended following a decisions from the A&N Administration, to look into the issues/ demand with due consideration. To that effect of consideration of our demands, the Director of Shipping Services, A&N Administration vide Office Order No. 4943, dated 1st November, 2016 has decided to increase period of contract article for the crews for a period of six months. For such implementation of six months contract Article, entire CDC Holders and their family are happy. I am being the Secretary and also on behalf of entire CDC Holders express gratitude to the Honorable Lt. Governor, Chief Secretary, Commissioner-cum-Secretary Shipping and Director of Shipping for such Act of increasing contract period six months. The Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh also expresses its gratitude to the Honorable Lt. Governor, Andaman and Nicobar Administration for such office order.
