GREETINGS FROM BERNIE THOMPSON PARK
Our monthly barbeques held on the 4th Thursday of the month are very popular and well attended. We were very pleased to support Cecily who works tirelessly for Legacy and has done so for many years when a group of us went to see the movie “The Lady in the Van” starring the incredible Maggie Smith. Afterwards we enjoyed a lovely lunch at Depz. March birthdays were celebrated in style. One rather unique one was an “afternoon high tea”. I hear it was a great success and alcoholic beverages were served after sunset or a little earlier!! Fingal Bay Bowling Club Trivia Night – This is held on the last Tuesday of the month with great prizes. BTP and Harbourside residents are encouraged to join us. Please ring Rae on 0400054524 or Carol 49849632 to let us know if you are interested in joining our Villagers team. A courtesy bus will pick us up and bring us safely back home. St Patrick’s Day, 17 March – we celebrated this at very short notice with silly hats, green things to eat and Beveridge of the Guiness variety. There were reminiscences, some very bad jokes and animated conversation at the end of the evening. A typical St Patrick’s Day, to be sure! Our thanks to Rod Ryder for providing a lovely bookcase for our ever-expanding popular library, housed in our very damp rotunda. . I would like to acknowledge the fantastic show of concern we experienced in BTP a few Fridays ago now, when we had a number of instances in one day which were quite confronting on the surface. Without intruding, I believe neighbours showed their concern and gave reassurance where it was needed. We send our love and best wishes to all those not feeling too good at the moment and hope they are having more good days than the other kind. On behalf of anybody who has known Garth over the years, we send him and his now very lucky wife our love and best wishes. Congratulations! I wish everyone a very happy and peaceful Easter. Carol Russell

Five plastic chair covers were bought for the BBQ area to protect the chairs. Two covers are now missing. Has anyone seen them? If so would you please let me know, on 4981 4715 , thanks Joy. Thank you to Pauline Orr for getting the cushions in the Rec Hall cleaned. Pauline would like to thank the ladies from Craft Cottage for covering these cushions. They look great placed on the large chairs along the wall. Well done by all. Would anyone have a largish ceramic pot to donate to the Rec Hall for the plant near the flag which has outgrown its pot? My thank you this month is to Wal Townsend for setting up the Hall for Indoor Bowls every Thursday. It is a big job and he does so in his own quiet way and it is greatly appreciated by all the bowlers. All the best. Joy Hart MONTHLY BBQ Don’t forget to come along to our monthly bbq on the first Sunday of the month at 3 p.m. All Welcome.
