Message from the Directorof

Industry Linkage Division, Department of Higher Education

Assalamualaikum wbt dan Salam sejahtera.

A very warm welcome I bid to all of the participants and speakers of the 8th RegionalConference on Molecular Medicine, in conjunction with the 4th National Congress forCancer Research. UMBI has been hosting this event every other year and this yearmarks its 8th time of conducting this prestigious event, well done!

As a researcher myself, I appreciate and value the effort of organizing scientificconferences to bring together academicians, students and industrial partners insharing our research findings. With this year’s theme of “Empowering MolecularMedicine for Future Healthcare”, this conference has attracted a diversified portfolio ofresearchers all over Malaysia and across the region as well. This is an opportunity forMalaysia to uphold and increase its status as a nation full of curious and motivatedscientific minds.

I would like to congratulate the organizing committee and to UKM for coming up withsuch a beneficial and successful event. Furthermore, I would like to thank our localand international speakers for sharing their findings and knowledge at this conference. To the young researchers and postgraduate students, please take this goldenopportunity to network and discuss with the speakers and other participants as well.

Lastly, I hope that this conference will be an engaging and memorable experience toall of the attendees.

Thank you.

Message from Vice-chancellor of

Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia

Assalamualaikum wbt. and Greetings.Welcome to all participants of the 8th Regional Conference on Molecular Medicine, inconjunction with the 4th National Congress for Cancer Research. This yearlyconference organized by UMBI has been one of the most anticipated events of theyear. This year, the theme of the conference encompasses a wide spectrum of topicsfrom molecular basis of diseases to its epidemiological status within the Asia Pacificregion. I am beyond delighted that UMBI is again taking the lead in organizing aregional-level conference focusing on molecular medicine and cancer. As one of the top research institutes in UKM, UMBI embraces the role of being one ofthe selected Higher Institution Centre of Excellence in Malaysia. UMBI has proven tobe one of the top research institutes in the nation by leading important projects suchas The Malaysian Cohort and the Space Science Program.I would also like to applaud the organizing committee and the management of UMBIfor their efforts in organizing this regional conference. A special thanks to the scientificcommittee for coming up with an interesting program filled with lectures on the latestfindings and developments in molecular medicine. I would also like to express mygratitude to the invited speakers, for sharing their insights and exciting findings withus.

Thank you.

Assalamualaikum w.b.t. and Salam sejahtera.

I am indeed pleased to welcome all of our participants and speakers to the UKMKuala Lumpur campus and to the 8th Regional Conference on Molecular Medicine inconjunction with the 4th National Conference for Cancer Research for the year 2018.Congratulations to UMBI for organizing this conference since 2006 which hasbecome a signature event for the institute.

The theme “Empowering Molecular Medicine for Future Healthcare” is very currentas precision medicine is now the talk of the town despite the challenges in terms ofits implementation. I hope that this conference will be beneficial to all delegatesespecially to the participants. Please take this golden opportunity to socialize amongeach other, exchange research ideas, discuss scientific findings and moreimportantly extend your network especially with our esteemed faculty of speakers. Iwould like to thank our distinguished speakers for being able to join us in thismomentous event and are willing to share with us their exciting research findings.

Furthermore, to our international participants and speakers, I hope you will havetime to enjoy the city and the local cuisine. I would like to applaud the organisingcommittee for a job well done.

Organizing Committee

Assalamualaikum w.b.t. and Salam sejahtera.

It gives me great pleasure to welcome all the speakers and participants to our 8thRegional Conference on Molecular Medicine in conjunction with the 4th NationalConference for Cancer Research. This year’s theme, “Empowering MolecularMedicine for Future Healthcare”, reflects the core identity of UMBI’s vision andmission, and extensively, UKM’s insight for the future of healthcare. Moreover, in thisera of precision medicine, molecular medicine has paved its way not only in themolecular basis of diseases, but in public health as well.

This year again, UMBI offers a program with multidisciplinary and transversalapproach, ranging from molecular biomarkers, to omics in public health approach. Weare excited to introduce our distinguished panel of speakers, from both local andinternational institutions, who will be sharing with us their knowledge and researchfindings.

This conference will also provide a platform for exchanging scientific ideas, instigatingscientific debates as well as providing opportunities for learning, sharing andnetworking among participants and speakers.

More importantly, I would like to thank the top management of UKM for the supportand also to our generous sponsors. Furthermore, I would also like to extend mygratitude to the organizing committee for their continuous outstanding work. Finally, onbehalf of the organizing committee, I wish all participants and speakers a greatconference and we hope to see you again in future conferences.
