Dear Colleagues,
It is our great pleasure to welcome you to the ICOI Central America Symposium which will be held February 28 to March 2, 2019 in San Jose, Costa Rica.
We are excited to have you join us and know that your time in Costa Rica will be memorable. Costa Rica is recognized as one of the happiest countries in the world and one of the most popular vacation destinations. This extraordinary country lies majestically between the Pacific Ocean and the Caribbean Sea, in the Central American isthmus. Its irregular coasts are full of incredibly beautiful beaches, peninsulas, bays and gulfs that make it a privileged travel destination.
The Symposium will discuss a wide range of different concepts and philosophies related to the etiology, prevention and management of complications. As expected, both the surgical and prosthetic part, in addition to legal considerations, will be exposed to help clinicians gain a better understanding of the different factors that will lead us to perform long-term successful treatments in oral implantology.
We look forward to experiencing the unique environment of Costa Rica with you. Prepare yourself for a country where varied ecosystems live together to create impressive landscapes and unique scenic points with you. Costa Rica is the birthplace of ecotourism. Think, rainforests, volcanoes, rivers and waterfalls; the sightseeing in Costa Rica is just breathtaking!
We thank you for your participation and as they say in Costa Rica - “Pura vida”- a fun phrase and way of life with literally translates to “pure life”, the more practical definition would be don’t worry, it will be alright.
Dr. Ivan Navarro, Scientific Program Chair

Upon completion of this symposium attendees will:
• Be exposed to relevant scientific literature related to the treatment plan phase of Dental Implants, in order to avoid complications.
• Understand the importance of planning prior to performing an oral implantology treatment: Medical evaluation, radiographic evaluation, pharmacology which are directly related to the success levels of our cases.
• Understand the etiological factors that directly or indirectly influence morbidity in oral implantology.
• Understand the limitations of the new prosthetic products and materials available today in oral implantology.
• Understand the prevention of functional and aesthetic complications related to the prosthetic design and the principles of occlusion.
The ICOI Central America Symposium has the mission to train its participants through a comprehensive review of all the scientific and treatment aspects in oral implantology, without neglecting the complications that may arise in this science.

TABLETOP AND POSTER PRESENTATIONS Thursday, February 28, 2019 | 6:00 pm - 8:30 pm
Plan to participate in our very popular Tabletop and Poster competition which will be held in tandem with our Welcome Reception in the Exhibit Hall on Thursday from 6:00 to 8:30 pm. It allows presenters to interact with colleagues in a social, yet instructive manner. Tabletop and Poster presentations should display a challenging case or concept in a limited time format, i.e. 5-7 minutes, so that the case can be repeated as new observers gather. Poster presentations will be placed (tacked or taped) on boards at the beginning of the symposium and will remain on display throughout the symposium. Poster presenters should be at their posters to answer inquiries during the Welcome Reception. All presentations will be judged, with the winners receiving awards and main podium consideration for future ICOI meetings.
REMEMBER, ALL FELLOWS, MASTERS AND DIPLOMATES WHO CONDUCT TABLETOP OR POSTER PRESENTATIONS HELP FULFILL THEIR FIVE-YEAR MAINTENANCE REQUIREMENTS.
Parties interested in conducting a Tabletop and/or Poster presentation must contact the Chair for this competition, Dr. Avi Schetritt, to request an application.
Completed applications must be submitted by February 1, 2019.
