HOLY COMMUNION FOR SHUT INS
St. Teresa of Calcutta said, “Holy Communion, as the word itself implies, is the intimate union of Jesus and our soul and body. If we want to have life and have it more abundantly, we just live on the Flesh of our Lord.”
When one grows old or ill, nothing is more comforting than the Bread of Life. If someone you know is no longer able to attend Mass, please call the parish office or Ruth Hall at (636) 222-4594 to arrange for weekly Eucharistic visits. We have ‘angels’ ready to take Communion to anyone who cannot attend Mass.
THE WORD OF GOD
“Has none but this foreigner returned to give thanks to God?” —Luke 17:18
Most of us live “easy” lives. We have food, shelter and clothing. We go on vacation every year and own a car or two. Most of us take this all for granted. Did you ever notice that people with the least amount of possessions are usually the most grateful? Shouldn’t this be the other way around? Take time every day and thank God for all He has given you.

DYNAMIC CATHOLIC, ALIVE! archstl.org/dynamic Gratitude
Sometimes life actually does get better! When it does, we may feel great relief—for just a while. Then the “better” becomes the “new normal” and we actually forget to express our gratitude to God for our blessings. It’s so easy to forget, but we have ways to remember. We can take time for adoration of God, for talking to God through prayer, and for intentional self-sacrifice that expresses our thankfulness and praise. Forget not all God’s blessings! (CCC 2095-2100)
MASS INTENTIONS
JONAH PRAYER MINISTRY
Jonah Prayer Teams are available next weekend, October 15 and 16, after the 4:00 p.m. Mass on Saturday and after the 8:30 a.m. and 10:15 a.m. Masses on Sunday. The teams will be by the baptismal font. All prayer is confidential.
Dear Parishioners,
This past Monday, we were delighted to welcome Archbishop Carlson to Holy Infant for the annual All-School Mass celebrating the Missionary Childhood Association. We have been chosen to host this inspirational Mass for several years.
At this liturgy, student representatives, teachers, principals and clergy from Holy Infant and eight other Catholic grade schools gathered together to pray for all those who support the missionary efforts of the Church. Thank you to all of our parents, faculty members, staff, and students who warmly welcomed our many guests and helped host this memorable event. It was a very prayerful and uplifting celebration.
On another note, our annual Mass of Remembrance will take place on Sunday, October 30 at our 12:00 Noon Mass. We will join together as a spiritual family to pray for each of our loved ones who have gone before us in faith and to ask God for His healing grace and comfort.
Many parishioners have already submitted names of family members whom they would like to be remembered at this Mass. If you have not yet responded, please fill out the form in this bulletin with the name of your deceased relative or friend, so that we can prepare for this special Mass. You may place it in the collection basket or drop it off at the parish office. All are most welcome to attend this Liturgy.
On a final note, we have many rooms on our campus that are used throughout the week and even the day for various meetings by many organizations in our parish. Along with this gift of having great meeting spaces comes the responsibility of caring for them. I am grateful to those good stewards who help us keep these areas clean and presentable for the next users and I appreciate those who remember to turn off the lights when their meetings are finished. I ask that all who sign out keys for any room on our campus to please see that the doors are locked, so that the building will be secure when their activity is over. Thanks for your attention to this matter. God’s blessings for a fantastic week!
“Come to me, all you who labor and are burdened, and I will give you rest…”

MASS OF REMEMBRANCE We are currently planning our annual Mass of Remembrance for all in our community who have experienced the loss of a loved one this past year. This Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 12 p.m. on Sunday, October 30.
This Mass of Remembrance gives us an opportunity, as a spiritual family, to join together in prayer, to ask for healing, and to give thanks for the lives of those who have gone before us in faith.
If you—or someone you know—would like to attend this special Mass, we will prepare a candle which will be presented during this celebration. The candle is a symbol of our baptism into the resurrection of Jesus Christ and is a reminder to us that we have the hope of eternal life. We would like to place the names of those we are remembering on the candles, so we ask those who would like a candle to fill out the form below and place it in the collection basket or simply drop it by the parish office. If you are not able to attend, we will be happy to include the name of your loved one to be read during the Mass.
I hope many will consider attending this Memorial celebration. It can be a time of healing and comfort. May the Lord continue to give strength, encouragement, and solace to all who have experienced loss.
Please fill out the form below and return it to the parish office, through the collection basket, or by dropping it off before October 17. This will help us plan for the Mass.
Thank you.

HEAL BROKEN RACE RELATIONS THROUGH JN17 BIBLICALLY BASED SMALL GROUPS
Holy Infant’s Adult Faith Formation Committee is partnering with neighboring parishes this fall to host a series of small group discussions on healing broken race relations in St. Louis. JN17 is a biblically-based, multi-ethnic training that guides participants to develop deep and enduring cross-cultural relationships essential for racial reconciliation and healing. It is based on John 17, in which Jesus prayed that His followers would be one, even as He and the Father are one. Small groups will meet in Holy Infant’s upper cafeteria for eight weeks, beginning Sunday, October 23 from 4:00 to 5:30 p.m. to discuss and share experiences in life, based on the topics in the manual, The Christian Life Primer. This program was developed by the St. Louis Reconciliation Network. For information, call Kathie Hanneke at (314) 704-2350. To register, email [email protected].

Please share your generous and caring spirit, that is an attribute of Holy Infant parishioners, by participating in an hour of prayer on Saturday, October 15th, the adopted day for our parish to pray in front of Planned Parenthood. Any hour of prayer that is convenient for you from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
It is a peaceful, legal hour of prayer that is such a strong witness of our faith and prayerful presence for the unborn babies that has many times touched the hearts and minds of many moms and dads and saved a baby's life—in fact, more than 800 women have changed their minds since 2011 and had their baby.
When you participate and give an hour in prayer, you are joining more than 4,500 people of different faiths and backgrounds!
This is truly a chance to make a difference, when so many times we feel like I'm only one person, what can I do?
We are signing up prayer volunteers in the church lobby this weekend; This is the last signup weekend to volunteer to pray for an hour.
We have all been so blessed and given so much, won't you please prayerfully consider an hour of prayer on October 15th to help an unborn child have a chance at life!
