Company Overview

Emirates Gold specializes in the smelting, refining, assaying, trading and minting of precious metals

such as gold and silver and offers a wide range of products, including various types and sizes of

gold bars, coins, pendants, medals and other items. Emirates Gold has a large refining capacity of

approximately 200 tons of gold annually in its state-of-the-art-factory in Dubai.

With more than 25 years of continuous operations, Emirates Gold has played a vital role in the

development and improvement of many industry standards in the United Arab Emirates and has

set new benchmarks through on-going integration of industry leading technologies and by the

knowledge and skill sets of a highly specialized and dedicated team.

Established in 1991 by Mohamad Shakarchi

and backed by more than 55 years of his

personal experience in the gold industry, Emirates

Gold has emerged as one of the most influential and

respected gold refinery in the Arab region. Located

in Dubai, the City of Gold, and steeped in rich family

traditions and Swiss precision, the Emirates Gold brand is

synonymous with trust, quality, and commitment.

Precious Stones and Diamond

Separation

SmeltingOur smelting division plays a central role in the manufacturing process of many of

our products. A wide range of induction furnaces allow us to melt gold and silver

of varying purity, from low-grade precious-bearing waste materials, to fine gold

including many types of recycled, scrap and mined gold (doré).

Melting allows homogenization of the gold content and the production of fine grains which are then

used by the refinery. Our smelting division has the capacity to produce up to 2,000 of our flagship

Emirates Gold kilo bars in a single day.

MintingOur minting and die making division is unique in the Middle East region and offers a comprehensive

range of gold and silver products such as investment bars, coins, medals and pendants.

Our gold and silver investment bars feature our trademark rose, a symbol of strength, beauty, purity

and wealth. The gold and silver bars come in a wide range of denominations from 1 gram to 100

grams.

A custom made coin is ideal to celebrate a special occasion, commemorate a key historical event,

congratulate the long service of employees, or offer as a gift or incentive. We tailor to our customers’

specific requirements by offering a fully customized service, where our clients work together with

our artists and engravers to build their own coins, bars or pendants. Our skilled workforce can

produce 3D portraits, 2D logos or designs, and can also laser engrave and produce gold platted

products. All our dies and artwork are produced in-house which provides us flexibility to meet our

client’s requirements.

Emirates Gold has also been selected as a “minting partner” by the Dubai Gold and Jewelery Group

during the world-renowned Dubai Shopping Festival, where we minted the 1 kilogram of 22 carat

raffle coins - The largest coins produced in the region.

In addition to a large portfolio of clients ranging from individuals, banks, insurance companies,

corporates (car dealerships, petroleum companies, event companies, sport venues, traders, jewelers,

hotels, etc.), and Dubai and Abu Dhabi government entities, we have produced in the past the iconic

Vision Of Dubai coin featuring Vice President “His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum”.

We have also produced the gold coins offered by the Dubai Municipality as prizes for the weight loss

programs “Your Weight in Gold” and “Your Child in Gold”.

More recently, following a thorough assessment, Emirates Gold was selected by The Royal Mint of

the United Kingdom to produce Royal Mint branded investment bars in the Middle East.

AssayingEmirates Gold has expertise in providing analysis services of precious metals such

as precise gold and silver assaying. In our laboratory, we monitor the quality of

the precious metal bearing material throughout the process of manufacturing by

determining its exact content of gold, silver and possible presence of impurities.

Accurate weight and purity are at the core of our culture and excellent reputation, so our laboratory

plays a crucial role in every aspect of our operations. We use the well-established and tested fire

assay method (cupellation) and spectrometry to test gold, and the gravimetric method to assay

silver. Thanks to our technology, skill-set and more than two decades of experience, a wide range of

clients rely on Emirates Gold to analyse and test their material.

RefiningAt the heart of our operation is our ability to purify gold and silver bearing material.

Refining recycled jewelery or gold doré, which contain precious metals as well as

other elements, requires a process that eliminates unwanted materials thus isolating

the valuable gold and silver.

The fast and effective methods we use at Emirates Gold are “aquaregia” to refine gold and

“electrolysis” to refine silver.

TradingIn addition to our core business of refining, smelting, assaying and minting, we also

operate a trading desk which allows our clients to buy or sell physical gold or silver.

We also trade ounces on margin and provide secured financing solutions.

Our range of products and services combined with our decades of experience, numerous accreditations,

Responsible sourcing

We are strong promoters of responsible sourcing of precious metals and encourage

our supply chain partners and stakeholders to align their policies and practices to the

OECD, LBMA and DMCC guidelines.

As a key player in the supply chain, we take our responsibilities very seriously and have developed

and implemented a robust due-diligence framework based on risk assessment and modeled on

the guidance issued by the OECD (Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development), the

LBMA (London Bullion Market Association) and the DMCC (Dubai Multi Commodities Centre).

Emirates Gold is the first and to date only refinery in the Middle East to be certified for responsible

sourcing by the London Bullion Market Association (LBMA) and compliant with the Conflict-Free

Smelters Program (CFSP).

accreditationsEmirates Gold is accredited as a Dubai Gold Delivery (DGD) refinery. Our DGD

products hold certificates for 1kg gold bars of minimum 995.0 purity and 999.9 purity

and also standard large silver bars ranging from 750 to 1100 ounces of a minimum

of 999.0 fineness.

Emirates Gold is certified ISO 9001 (Quality Management System), ISO 14001

(Environmental Management System), ISO 18001 (Occupation Health & Safety

Management System) and ISO 10002 (Customer Satisfaction).

Emirates Gold is also an Associate of the London Bullion Market Association (LBMA)

since 2007, and the minting partner in the Middle East of the Royal Mint of the

United Kingdom since 2016.
