“Goals. There’s no telling what you can do when you get
inspired by them. There’s no telling what you can do when you
believe in them. And there’s no telling what will happen when
you act upon them.”
—Jim Rohn

Community Action Service Project at IELC Koramangala
In alignment with the vision of the school, this year's community action service project focused on sustainability. The main focus of these projects is to connect the child to society, the environment and most importantly, the self. Students explored water and food as resources and waste management as well. They created and are maintaining community gardens, constructed of recycled material; and learnt the value of waste management and recycling. Students of Prep Two visited the Indus Community School to share their learning with their grade counterparts and help create a small vegetable garden! The funds raised at the carnival totaled just over 1 lakh. These were used to procure environmentally friendly colour coded bins for the school, add to the garden and also shared with the Indus Community School to procure required resources for students! We appreciate the tremendous and consistent support from the parent community for the planning and participation in this project and the carnival!

Community Action Service Project at IELC Koramangala
Students of Prep Two spent the day with Grade One students at Indus Community School. They shared their learning on sustainability, planted vegetable plants together and also handed over proceeds from the carnival. The Indus Community School will use
these funds to procure necessary resources for the school.
Fun for all at the CAS carnival!!
Professional and Self Development at Indus International School
Vision of the school: ‘To create global citizens and leaders from tomorrow through traditional values of love, empathy, discipline and respect – 21st century citizens who think globally and act locally.’ In alignment with the vision, professional development and self-development of educators at Indus focuses on being self directed lifelong learners through goal setting, deep reading and building emotional intelligence. These skills will then be translated into the curriculum for students making education more relevant in the 21st century.
Parent Advisory Committee (PAC)
At IELC, we believe that engaging parents in the education system activates a built-in support system. This works to help all the stakeholders in education be more effective and aware in their jobs. This is possible with an organized program, involving the school and parents in activities linked to the school vision and goals. A partnership program built on mutual understanding and trust improves the school, strengthens families, and increases student achievement and success. With this goal in mind, we have the Parents Advisory Committee (PAC) for the parents of Indus Early Learning Centre Koramangala. The selection for the committee will take place in January. If you are interested in becoming a representative of the PAC, do inform me via email.
Play Based Learning
Play is the essential secret to some of the top education systems in the world, including Finland. Play at the preschool stage child development can successfully engage students in the process of learning, says David Whitebread, director of the Centre for Research on Play in Education, Development & Learning at the University of Cambridge. Once engaged in a task they enjoy, whether acting out a story or constructing a building, children become motivated to constantly refine and improve on their task and to increase the challenge. Carefully organised play helps develop qualities such as attention span, perseverance, concentration and problem solving, which at the age of four are stronger predictors of academic success than the age at which a child learns to read. At Indus, play is an essential part of the learning process. Play, is a serious business, at least for the teachers, because it gives children vital skills in how to learn. It’s not “just play” these are skills for life!
We consistently strive toward excellence. Sharing your valuable feedback and creative ideas will help us along this journey!
