“I Hope You Know”
How can we describe all our Lord has done for us? Paul
said, “Oh the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgments
and His ways past finding out” (Romans 11:33)! Paul was not inquiring about “how” unsearchable are the Lord’s
judgments; he was exclaiming with delight they were above comprehension. There are two things the world
knows about our Lord, His birth and His resurrection. In no way should either of these blessed events be
diminished. Yet the scope of our Lord’s life transcends
these two essential events. Paul even remarks how the Lord’s wisdom and greatness is greater than ours, we
could not possibly offer Him counsel or direction concerning His way, “For who has known the mind of the
Lord? Or who has become His counselor” (Romans 11:34)? To know our Lord we must look to the fullness of
all that has been revealed to us.
Our Lord’s existence reaches beyond the pages of written history. The Holy Spirit told John, “In the beginning was
the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God” (John 1:1). Lest we think our Lord’s life consisted of
merely thirty-three years (as some faiths do) and His coming was the result of impulse of God, we should
reexamine the scriptures. Jesus’ coming was never
intended to be a failsafe plan, or a backup to some failed system of faith. Moses knew the Lord’s revelation to him
would one day bring about the presence of a, “Prophet like you from among their brethren” (Deut 18:18). Who else
could this be but Jesus? Yet this Prophet would come forth into fleshly existence, having for a time, set aside His right
to deity (Philippians 2:7).
Our Lord’s existence surpasses the coincidental. The Prophets spoke of Him not only with certain confidence,
but with precision. Before crucifixion was even an employed means of punishment, David wrote with graphic
and haunting detail of our Lord’s suffering and death
(Psalm 22:14-18). Zechariah knew to tell of our Lord’s entrance to Jerusalem would be upon not just a donkey,
Our Lord’s existence delves deep into the hearts of
men. His presence here was not strictly political, though His words and teachings impacted the
authorities of His day (Matthew 27:20). His presence here was not strictly social, though His
actions rivaled the popular trends of His day (John 4:7-9). His presence here was not strictly moral,
though His teachings of morality could not be denied (Matthew 5:27-32). Jesus invited all men
to surrender their lives to Him for His sake
(Matthew 10:39). Jesus taught all men to leave the fleeting promises of this world behind, and
gain His hope of eternal life (Matthew 16:27). I hope you know, when we place every portion of
our lives under the Lord’s control, not an oppressive control, but a freedom to choose
righteousness, we will surely see that, “of Him, through Him, and to Him” our lives will eternally
be blessed.
but the “foal of a donkey” (Zechariah 9:9). Surely
it must have excited Malachi to speak of the coming of the Lord’s Messenger (Malachi 3:1).
With assurance our Lord comforted the hearts of His apostles when He told them, “all things must
be fulfilled which were written in the Law of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms
concerning Me” (Luke 24:44).

SUMMER CAMP WEEK 2 is underway! Again a
full week with about 85 campers ages 7-14 are there for a week full of fun and learning more about God. With Staff, that puts us well over 110 for the week. Following a full to capacity Day Camp with over 75 and Week 1 with over 80 campers, it has been a busy month already. This week we study 26.2 in relation to Hebrews 12:1. Next week brings us another Teen Week with anticipated numbers to be around 80 campers as well. What a blessing summer camp at Meribah is to our church family as well as the community. Our thanks continues to Clay & Tara Chessor, Joey & Paula Chilton, Matthew & Cissy Dotson and the rest of the staff for all the hard work and
efforts to make summer camp so memorable.

Volunteers Needed at Camp Meribah
During the most recent flooding, the
access road and the spring fed stream bed above the lake at camp sustained considerable damage in
the form of heavy gravel deposits. A volunteer working is planned for Saturday, July 19, 2014 to relocate the gravel and restore the area to its former condition. Board members will make available two or three farm tractors with bucket lifts and scraper boxes. A three-pronged need still exists: (1) Volunteers to serve as general helpers, directors, etc. (2) A good backhoe with an operator to lift gravel that can’t be cleared with the bucket loaders. (3) A dump truck and operator to move some gravel to other areas on the camp and off-site. Start time will be 7:00 – 8:00 AM.
