The Sacrament of Reconciliation: Confessions are heard each week on Saturday at the Church (SR #46) from 3:45pm to 4:45pm or by calling the parish office to make an appointment with a priest. Learn more about this beautiful sacrament by visiting our website: www.allsoulssanford.org/reconciliation The Sacrament of Baptism: Call the parish office to learn the necessary requirements and make an appointment with Fr. Kenneth Metz to have your child baptized. Ask us about the requirements for Godparents. The Sacrament of Marriage: Getting married? Congratulations! The process of being married in the Catholic Church could take between 6 months to a year to complete. Please contact Ann Cammarata at the parish office as soon as possible after your engagement if you would like to be married at All Souls Catholic Church. Anointing of the Sick: Please call the parish office. The Rite of Anointing tells us there is no need to wait until a person is at the point of death to receive the Sacrament. Scripture Reflection

13th Sunday in Ordinary Time

"No one who sets a hand to the plow and looks to what was left behind is fit for the kingdom of God." What have we left behind? What have we traded in to become faithful followers of Christ? The answer is different for all of us. Some of us can tell the tale of a dramatic conversion story, leaving behind a life of blatantly selfish indulgence or obviously sinful behavior in order to embrace the call of Jesus. Others of us have been Christians since the day of our baptism as infants and have always walked the path of belief, but perhaps can trace certain moments when we embraced a deeper commitment and resolved to abandon particular behaviors, relationships, or worldly priorities that were in conflict with our faith. Whatever the case, Jesus instructs us today not to look to "what was left behind." Instead, we are called to keep our focus on what lies ahead, namely, life in Christ and the ultimate hope of union with him in heaven. Keeping this focus can be quite a challenge. So often, it's tempting to think that the grass is greener somewhere else. As Christians, we can fall into the trap of imagining that it might feel better to be something else. Perhaps, seeing others around us whose lives are not shaped by their faith, we might think they have it easier than we do. Or perhaps we get lost in reminiscence about the way things were in the good old days, and thus get distracted from the mission that stands in front of us today. But thoughts like these are not fit for our new life as disciples of Christ. As St. Paul says in today's epistle, "For freedom Christ set us free." May we embrace the gift of this true freedom and follow Christ without looking back. LPI, Inc.

LPI, Inc.

The world is a very busy place. Our lives are sometimes very complicated. Everywhere we turn there are distractions. Add to all this the increasing number of people with virtually no attention span or diagnosed ADD and you have a reality where it can be quite hard to stay focused and committed to any task at hand. When you were called to follow Jesus, he knew that the call came in the midst of all this chaos. He understood that you would be pulled in every direction. That is why he urges you, as he did his first disciples, not to look behind, but to forge ahead, proclaiming the good news to all who can hear. The reality is that we cannot, on our own, believe in and follow Jesus without turning ourselves over to him completely. The aspect of this that the world will never understand is that through giving all over to God, a person finds true freedom. By forsaking everything else for God, we gain everything. Good stewardship and mature discipleship needs this "single-minded obedience" to flourish. Without it, we will be constantly distracted and tempted to change course. A person with severe ADD may need a prescription. Any Christian seeking to follow Jesus needs something too: the grace that comes from giving over one's self to God. Tracy Earl Welliver, MTS

My dear friends, On behalf of Fr. Medina, Fr. Ken and myself, I wish to commend and thank the staff and parishioners who were involved with Luis Vielma’s Visitation and Funeral Mass. All of you did an outstanding job. It was truly a great ministerial day for the parish. All Souls rose to the challenge and surpassed it. Thank you very much. It indeed was a very Spirit filled two days. May God bless you all!

Catholic Heart Workcamp This June, 55 teens and adults from our Youth Ministry program, D.A.W.G. will be traveling to

Richmond, VA to serve alongside over 400 youth from all over the country. We will be serving the neglected, brokenhearted and marginalized in any way needed. Pope Francis has called us all to be living witnesses of God’s mercy. We will feed the hungry, visit the sick and clothe the naked. We will participate in the Sacraments all week, grow in our Catholic faith and fortify our relationships with God. Will you help? We know it’s a difficult time to consider making investments, but that is what we are asking. Will YOU make an investment in the young people of All Souls? With a small donation towards our mission trip you would be a part of the transformation of our teens, the people we serve and in the life of our church. We need to raise close to $650 per student. These are teens you know well in our parish. They are Servers, Vacation Bible School leaders, Young Vincentians and more and they need your help. Please consider making an investment in us! Checks may be made payable to All Souls Catholic Church and mailed to the parish office, attention Michelle Murphy. (301 W. 8th Street, Sanford 32771). Donations can also be made online through “Online Giving” at allsoulssanford.org No amount is too small! If you are unable to donate at this time would you please keep us in your prayers? Every day we will be praying in thanksgiving for all of our All Souls Parish family.

LIVE THE LITURGY - INSPIRATION FOR THE WEEK: Very often, we get very distracted by looking back on our past: what we have done, what we didn't do, mistakes we have made, and opportunities that were missed. Dwelling on the past takes us away from the possibilities before us today and ones available tomorrow! What Christ is calling us to do today and going forward from today are what is important. Constantly looking back limits our ability to say yes to his call. LPI, Inc.
