Upon impact from the plane, the building shuddered, and Roselle was roused from her sleep. She ventured from beneath the desk and waited for a command to SPRING into action. The Lord Himself is just such a Guide. He sees the beginning from the end and longs to guide us safely through the chaos of life. He waits patiently for us to simply say, ‘Forward.’ He needs no other encouragement to SPRING into action. The question is, will you take hold of His harness, and move forward into "fresh air and freedom?" As true Disciples of Christ, each day we have been given a choice to make. We are to seek, see, and stay on the path that God has placed before us. No matter what hardship we face, as true Disciples of Christ, the Lord has giv- en us a promise as shared by the words of David in Psalms 23, “Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shad- ow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me”. If we are to find our way through the darkness, the depression, and the disasters that we find ourselves facing, then we must make the choice to never walk alone. Like David, we must start each morning by realizing that we are not to stay in “the val- ley and shadows of death”; we are to walk through the valley and shadows of death. But the only way to get through what we are going through is to faithfully focus and follow the Words, the Will, and the Way of the Lord. God Bless Your Hearts, Pastor Frederick Sampson Frederick G. From the Pastor: Moving through the Valley and Shadows Greetings Church,

A while back I read an article that helped me realize that God has given us all a choice to make if we are to seek, see, and stay on the path that He has placed before us.

A man named Michael Hingson is the author of the new book, "Thunder Dog: The True Story of a Blind Man, His Guide Dog & the Triumph of Trust at Ground Zero". In this book, Hingson shared how on the morning of September 11, 2001, he was sitting at his desk on the 78th floor of the World Trade Center North Tower. He was not alone. Under his desk lay napping his faithful companion, Roselle—a two-year-old, yellow lab guide dog. You see, Mike Hingson is blind.

Upon impact from the plane, the building shuddered, and Roselle was roused from her sleep. She ventured from beneath the desk and waited for a command to SPRING into action. Unsure of which way to go to escape the en-croaching chaos, Mike took firm grip of her harness and simply said, “Forward.”

That was all the encouragement Roselle needed to take control of the situation. With smoke and noise, congestion and confusion filling the hallways, Roselle purposefully and determinedly steered Mike from his desk to the center stairwell. ”Roselle was calm as ever and did not sense any danger in the flames, smoke, or anything else around us. I chose to trust her judgment because Roselle and I were a team. Hingson clutched Roselle’s harness and with focus and confidence they headed down the 1,463 stairs to fresh air and freedom.”

“I can imagine that the only thing more frightening than being trapped in the burning inferno of the World Trade Towers that day would have been to have been trapped there…blind. Truth be told, we are all blind. When faced with crisis we must all look to a guide—one who is better equipped to sense the danger and to forge a safe way through the crowd.

The Lord Himself is just such a Guide. He sees the beginning from the end and longs to guide us safely through the chaos of life. He waits patiently for us to simply say, ‘Forward.’ He needs no other encouragement to SPRING into action. The question is, will you take hold of His harness, and move forward into "fresh air and freedom?"

As true Disciples of Christ, each day we have been given a choice to make. We are to seek, see, and stay on the path that God has placed before us. No matter what hardship we face, as true Disciples of Christ, the Lord has giv-en us a promise as shared by the words of David in Psalms 23, “Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shad-ow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me”.
