I’m so glad you are considering The King’s Seminary (TKS) for the next step of your educational and ministry training. I hope that as you learn more about what TKS offers you’ll find that our end goal isn’t simply to help you earn a degree. We want you to experience transformation. Yes, you will be earning an accredited degree at TKS, but our goal is to help develop Spirit-formed leaders who are rooted in God’s Word, empowered by the Holy Spirit, united with one another, and transformed through their time at TKS.

I can state with confidence that people don’t leave The King’s Seminary the same as when they started. One of the reasons for this is that God has given vision for TKS to people like our founder, Jack Hayford, chancellor, Robert Morris, and vice-chairman, Kenneth Ulmer. The three unique ministry perspectives from these great leaders regarding Spirit formation, the blessed Church, and the ministry of reconciliation give TKS students a well-rounded legacy from which to draw. Some clear expressions of that legacy include a focus on our Jewish roots and an emphasis in developing women in ministry leadership.

One thing that was true at the beginning of TKS and is still true today—whether online or on campus–our students encounter the presence and power of the Holy Spirit. That is a key ingredient in our educational and ministry training, and it’s what makes transformation at The King’s Seminary possible.

Dr. David Cole

Dean of Jack W. Hayford School of Graduate Studies

Situated within the Jack W. Hayford School of Graduate Studies at The King’s University (TKU), TKS equips students for effective pastoral leadership.

Founded by Pastor Jack Hayford in Van Nuys, California, in 1997, TKU is now under the leadership of Pastor Robert Morris in partnership with Gateway Church.

TKS offers a unique training experience focused on the distinctive ministry priorities found in the apostolic church leadership of TKU Founder Jack Hayford and

Chancellor Robert Morris: clear communication of Scripture as the authoritative Word of God, a Spirit-formed approach to the Christian life that includes a charismatic worldview, the priority of the local church, a deep commitment to the Jewish roots of the Christian faith, a lifestyle devoted to the practice and power of prayer, the open invitation for every person to encounter the Lord’s presence through worship, and a heart to build bridges of unity and reconciliation in the body of Christ.

For many TKS students, interrupting the rhythm of life and ministry simply isn’t practical. That’s why we offer online options for students who want to earn their degree without disrupting their daily routine.

Our online education program includes hybrid and modular courses—which feature short, periodic residencies on campus in tandem with online learning— along with classes that take place completely online.

About

Online Learning

I’m the Gateway Church Frisco Campus Pastor and I also oversee two of Gateway’s other campuses. Working in ministry with three church campuses, life is busy. And to top it off, my wife and I just welcomed our third child into the world.

Thankfully, The King’s Seminary’s flexible hybrid courses allow me to fit learning into my busy schedule. There are many reasons not to go to school right now. But I know that one of the ways God opens doors is through education.

The degrees and courses are part of the equipping process, and God can use them to open doors for what He wants me to do in the future. What I love about The King’s is that we talk about education and experience. When you leave here you will know how to minister to people effectively.

Firmly rooted in our founding values of Spirit-formation, renewal, and Church unity, this program will equip you for all types of transformative ministry.

Concentrations

Messianic Jewish Studies Whether you desire to lead in the Messianic community or feel called to be a bridge between the Church and the Jewish people, our Messianic Jewish Studies (MJS) program is designed for you.

With accredited degrees taught by distinguished, Spirit-filled faculty, and as one of few schools approved by the Union of Messianic Jewish Congregations for training rabbis and teachers, the MJS program at TKS is truly one of a kind.

Offering MJS concentrations in the Master of Divinity, Master of Practical Theology, and Doctor of Ministry, students learn to articulate a biblically-based theology of Messianic Jewish ministry and leadership that is Spirit-empowered and informed by the calling of Israel and the Body of Messiah.

“This is a kairos moment, an opportune time in

history to gain a Messianic Jewish perspective

on who God is and what He is doing in the

world today. For 1400 years, there was no

Messianic Jewish community and therefore

no opportunity to learn from Messianic Jews

and Messianic Judaism. We should not take

for granted this opportunity today.”

Dr. David RudolphDirector of Messianic Jewish Studies

Women in Ministry Leadership One of the first of its kind among Spirit-empowered seminaries across the country, The Center for Women in Ministry Leadership (WIML) is designed as a gathering place for personal development and spiritual growth as women learn to navigate the unique issues within their ministry context.

A WIML concentration is available to women enrolled in any master’s program at TKS and includes courses on the history and theology of women in ministry leadership, as well as current issues.

Women in the concentration also attend a retreat focused on soul care and intentional spiritual formation. As they eliminate distractions and focus on the voice of God, they experience moments dedicated to the inner life of the leader rather than the activities of leadership.

“We see the Center for Women in Ministry

Leadership as an opportunity for growth

and unity in the Church amidst a volatile

cultural climate. We asked ourselves,

‘How would God’s kingdom move forward

if women were empowered and equipped

for spiritual leadership?’ The Center is

our faith-filled response.”

“The Holy Spirit is integrated into

everything we do. It’s part of who we are.

Good theology ought always to lead us to

deeper relationship with God.”

Dr. David Moore, M. G. Robertson Professor of Pneumatology

“We believe in the preparation of the head,

heart, and hands for ministry. It takes theologians

and practitioners alike to prepare God’s people for

faithful service to the local church and the world.”

Dr. Dan CallDirector of Doctor of Ministry

“The Master of Organizational Leadership degree

has the same core spiritual, biblical, and theological

foundations of all of our other seminary programs, but

the concentration is classic organizational leadership.

It’s a leadership degree with the heart of a seminary.”

Dr. Frank Markow Professor of Leadership Studies
